I love alfred, dont get me wrong, batman needs him. but why are they making him into an aunt may type of character and treating him like hes a main character or the source of bruces strength when he should just be the butler who follows orders? alfred is there for good advice and getting things done, hes like goliath to bruces davy, but they are giving him more screentime and story then friggin Gordon! they should make gordon the focus, if anyone, not alfred.

Nevah! His screentime is perfect but i do want to see more of gordon.

We don't know how big Alfred or Gordon' roles are yet. I only hope that the Bat and the Clown share the movie.

Well, for the first film, at least, Alfred is a vital part to the character - he's the one true souce of soldiarity, through thick and thin, and the real link back to his childhood. What I expect you'll see is in the next film and after Alfred will fade more into the background as Bruce becomes more focused on his role as Batman, and Gordon will become more of a lead character

I surprised this is brought up. I would imagine greatly expanding a character like Alfred would be a favorable thing. I love what Michael and Nolan did with him, turned a rather dull character into a father figure. Aunt May is a boring, pretentious mess of a character, Alfred feels like real family.

I hope they give him even MORE to do in TDK. Ha! There, I said it.

Exactly, Mr. Caine brings so much gravitas to that role that Ill take as much as I can get. It is just nice to see that they didn't sell his character short as they obviously could have. And yes more Gordon please.

Alred's role is perfect in these movies. Would you prefer his only lines in the film be "yes Mr. Wayne.." And every 3 minutes he goes and fetches some wine for him?

i beg to differ. i thought aunt may was actually quite believeable, but alfred was the one in the new movie i thought was just there for emotional purposes. i will admit that i still dont see caines alfred as Alfred, i still only think of michael gough. but, its true, its a different take on what is otherwise a pretty dull character, but i thought it was a bit much when he was the main voice of the new trailer, im like whats he doing voiceing half the trailer? is he still helping bruce along emotionally in TDK? kinda dissapointing.

It's rumour that there'll be a subplot in the movie where Bruce is becoming consumed by his Batman persona and Alfred desperately tries make sure Bruce Wayne isn't "lost" and all that'll be left is Batman. I think Anjow and Miranda reported that (I'm not sure which).

But I really don't want Alfred to simply be "the man who carries the bags". I want him to be involved more and I think this subplot is just it.

I thought you said you weren't fond of the Gordon character and preferred Hingle over Oldman just because he wasn't used much.

i do still. nonetheless, i'd rather see more gordon then more alfred. get my drift?

Surely he couldn't have said Hingle was better than Oldman as Gordon. GoogleMe, please deny this horrible lie this fellow is saying about you! :csad:

I don't see how that subplot would be more like Spider-Man 3. If you're refering to the crammed nature of SM3, then I think there's nothing to worry about. This is Chris Nolan we're dealing with here. Not Sam Raimi. Nolan has more than proven that he is capable of interconnecting subpltos and characters and making them work.

I hope there's a lot more of Caine in TDK. Me and my buddies quote all his lines from BB. I'm trying to memorize Alfred's teaser dialog. Every time we bust out the Alfred lines everyone laughs. Plus Michael Caine is playing Alfred. He's an amazing actor. They should take advantage of his role instead of just being there to be there.

They are both very important. Alfred is Bernardo to Batman's Zorro, and Gordon is the last good cop in Gotham. Plus it doesn't hurt that they are played by two of the finest british actors, make that actors, in the world.

Casting is destiny. Milos Forman.

tis true, im afraid. i think it was because i HATED gordon driving the batmobile, and that gordon was hardly developed in Begins, so he wasnt much different from the B89 gordon cept he wasnt there at bruces parents murder. so, essentially, BB gordon is B89 gordon but without the oneliners. but thats only my opinion. i would like to see gordon ALOT more in TDK and not just making quick cameo appearances and doing dumb things like playing videogames in batmobile.

I was dissapointed that he was somewhat of the "comic relief" but Oldman=Gordon, whether he is Funny or not.

what i mean is, spiderman gets the black suit and gets "consumed" by his darker persona, then aunt may has to give him that dumb little morality speech about "becoming a darker person" or whatever. i just dont want that same corny sh** to happen in TDK.
