The Dark Knight Anyone think Alfred is haveing too big of a role in the new movies?

tin true, im afraid. i think it was because i HATED gordon driving the batmobile, and that gordon was hardly developed in Begins, so he wasnt much different from the B89 gordon cept he wasnt there at bruces parents murder. so, essentially, BB gordon is B89 gordon but without the oneliners. but thats only my opinion. i would like to see gordon ALOT more in TDK and not just making quick cameo appearances and doing dumb things like playing videogames in batmobile.

You are dead to me. :o

Just kidding, I forgive you.
If you admit Oldman > Hingle. :cwink:

Gary Oldman is God. I hope he has more to do in TDK than just exposition and comic relief like in BB.

I loved Caine's Alfred , just like I loved what Gough did with him. I thought Alfred was the right amount of time in BB and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing as much or more (seeing there's no "himalaya" scenes) of him in TDK.

I do want A LOT more Gordon, which I also think we'll be getting.

no he is a man.:oldrazz:

same here. i wonder at the ppl who liked him in BB, because he was hardly in it, had some pretty poor comic oneliners, and drove the freakin batmobile. nuff said. only somewhat redeeming factor was that he looked like the comics gordon. hopefully he'll do more with batman.

Like I said, I hope there's more Gordon development, but I thought it was awesome he drove the Batmobile! Great scene.

Plus, it proved once and for all in my mind this franchise doesn't need Robin. Gordon is all the "sidekick" Batman needs.

I dont get it...what would make anyone think Alfred has too much or even too little screen time in a film we know nothing about of his role?

No, he was perfect in Begins, and I hope he has more time in TDK. I LOVE Alfred in Begins.

Someone who complains for the sake of complaining, in other words 90% of the hypesters.

what i mean is, spiderman gets the black suit and gets "consumed" by his darker persona, then aunt may has to give him that dumb little morality speech about "becoming a darker person" or whatever. i just dont want that same corny sh** to happen in TDK.
I really wouldn't call what happened SM3 equal to what *might* happen in TDK. In SM3 an alien lifeform caused his personality to grow "darker", while in TDK it would be Bruce Wayne becoming too obsessed with his Batman alter ego and purposely neglecting his Bruce Wayne life. It actually makes sense that this would happen. With The Joker causing havoc throughout Gotham and making life extremely hard for Batman, it only makes sense that he'd be obsessed with bringing this maniac to justice.

Man...Caine gave one of the most memorable performances in BB; he honestly didn't miss a beat. When young Bruce tells Alfred that he misses his parents, and Alfred says, "so do I," Cain REALLY sold the emotion there. Great performances like that are missing in a lot of these comic book movies, and -if Cain can do it again in TDK - then bring it on. Give him as much time as he needs.
And I love what Nolan did with the character. It only makes sense that he would be such an influential character, since he is basically Batman's dad. Since Alfred is the one that raised the main character, we might as well get comfortable with him. He may be the butler in title, but it's only logical that he would be a lot more than that.

Alfred's screen time was perfect. I expected to see alot of him anyway, since this was Batman's origin movie, and Alfred is a big part of that.

Gordon had adequate screen time, too. Really, Alfred and Gordon were perfectly done in Begins, IMO.

Although I also don't want any corny **** in a Batman film. I can only say, welcome to the world of comics. It just seems like you were surprised about that in Spider-Man 3. In comics there has always been takes/speeches and messages on morality. Just about every comic has some cheese to it. So it shouldn't be surprising or "dumb" when it's actually something from the comics in most cases. Unless you don't like comics to begin with, and just like the films for the action alone.

Oh yeah, to stay on topic. I think Alfred's screen time was perfectly fine.

I disagree, I honestly didn't think any of Alfred's lines in BB were corny at all. In fact, I still get goosebumps in the lift scene.

He wasn't refering to alfred as being corny, he was refering to the possible cornyness of how bruce is going to have to be comforted by alfred in TDK which i think is Blasphemy! Nevah will batman have to be comforted!

^Oh, My bad.

Either way, I want Bruce to start down a darker path because of Joker.

I didn't say any lines in BB were corny. I was referring to his line about Spider-Man 3. I liked all of Alfred's lines. Only lines I didn't like in the film were pretty much these one liners.

"I got ta get me one of those!"

"Hey, nice ride!"

and the guy in Wayne Tower repeating the whole "The whole place is going to blow"

Yeah, who was that guy ? I thought he was Nolan's father or something since he got so much air time.

I love alfred, dont get me wrong, batman needs him. but why are they making him into an aunt may type of character and treating him like hes a main character or the source of bruces strength when he should just be the butler who follows orders? alfred is there for good advice and getting things done, hes like goliath to bruces davy, but they are giving him more screentime and story then friggin Gordon! they should make gordon the focus, if anyone, not alfred.

God please let this petty bickering die.
