Application: DC: 1877

Why not just a general Western RPG, I could see it working for a while, but it will probably suffer the same fate of the other RPG's.

I thought of that, but I also figured nobody would be interested in a straight up western, which is why I added in the superhero part.

I really agree with this setting basically because for the Joker(an eccentric character)needs a wide space with possibilities for lots of eccentric things can happen.Even though,I a;so do believe that a Gotham "Town" could be a nice change also.I've got plenty of ideas for possible crimes, and mischiefs of the Jokers so hopefully this will happen.

Well, I'm sure there are reasons that this never took off. Perhaps it was the strict hold on the DC universe, without an integration of Marvel? I was considering a game like OU set in the Old West where Marvel and DC characters populate rival towns.

It's a crappy idea, I know.

Well, it couldn't be any worse than this idea.

I think specialized versions of the main comics should start off first as maybe a special arc in their respective RPG's and see if the idea catches on. No offense, but I don't think there is any lasting interest in these "What If" versions of the top two comic companies. If they were just to stick to an arc in an RPG, people would still be able to have fun and enjoy them without creating an RPG that would probably die.

Following this post, people will probably think "an arc would be to hard to pull of." Not really. An arc like that would need no explanation. It could just be a "what if" in your character's RPG history. Stories do that all the time.

A Western arc would actually be really easy to explain. There are plenty of reality-shifters in both Universes that could be the cause.

IMO, why over complicate things? Just do it without an explanation as a special arc. Didn't Batman recently do an arc in another universe...just cause the writers wanted to?

Yes, but unfortunately it wasn't a very popular concept. :csad:

One of the major downsides of said arc is the nay-sayers out there, because with anything experimental, there will be those who won't like it.

I'm not the type to do a special arc just for the sake of doing a special arc.

You have to have a reason to do a fun arc? You won't just write for fun?

There's writing for fun, and then there's setting a post in the Old West for no apparent reason - in my opinion.

I am kind of lost here. Isn't the point of this RPG to have an Old West environment? I am suggesting that it should just be an arc in one of the main RPG's for those who want to do it. How is that a problem?

It's not a problem. I'm just saying that I personally would like to see a logical reason to initiate the arc. It doesn't make sense to suddenly start writing in the Old West.

It makes just as much sense as the X-Men starting an arc in the future...just like they did in Days of Future Past

Yes it does. You ever see the Justice League Unlimited episode "The Once and Future Thing part 1"? It could work like that.
