Aquaman's costume. Classic or 90s?

They should feel free to redesign Aquaman's costume as much as they want, IMO, as long as it falls within the realm of "badass underwater king who looks cool". Sticking with the orange jersey just for the sake of it is a big no-no.

Well, this Aquaman will be whatever we're given, I just hope it's cool enough. With a character like this I think some wiggle room is more than allowed. To me, the jersey is a bad design idea from the 40s that just happened to stick. They don't have to be slaves to it.

Actually Aquaman to me is one of the few New 52/Brightest Day character who can actually make the high collar look work for him and makes it look good. I now actually prefer the high collar look instead of just the regular costume with just the regular shirt like neckline opposed to Superman which I wish was back to original neckline instead of having a high collar .

While the medallion(or necklace) is optional for a costume choice. I do agree with in saying that he should keep the orange and green and just show why is one of the top dogs in the DC Universe without having to drastically change him and make him grim and gritty in the process(including cutting off his hand, killing his baby son off, and implying his whole family on his mother side might have a history of mental illness/insanity among other things)

If anything make it look more Gold and Green like Alex Ross does. But definitely have a good explanation explaining why he chose the costume and color choice like some comics and TV shows had. Post crisis/Keith Giffen Legend of Aquaman special/Peter David Time and Tide comic wrote the costume as a standard prison uniform and after learning his mother died, he escaped while unknowingly causing an uprising painting him as a hero and legend while stopping the Trickster meeting the Flash which the media painted him as a superhero and naming him Aquaman while starting the A on Aquaman's belt buckle stands for Atlantis.

New 52/Geoff Johns simply described it as Atlantean Scale Mail since he wouldn't willing "choose" orange which Green Lantern admitted he didn't mind the orange himself but his medallion has to go(even Green Arrow in Kevin Smith's Quiver said he thought Aquaman was the only one who can rock the Orange and Green).

Smallville Aquaman was a former student at the University of Miami before dropping out in Aqua when Lex was hunting for him( On the University of Miami swim team, he swam in multiple events and held multiple records and was also the Team Captain and voted MVP) , whose colors are orange and green. Arthur is often seen wearing orange and green in his regular clothes and Smallville Aquaman costume (except for his stealth costume which is black with yellow lines) so he most likely chose these colors to be his superhero colors because they are the University of Miami's school colors which says a lot about him.


But then again they could go the simple route of him wearing orange and green because he loves orange and green and he doesn't care what anyone thinks because he's Aquaman.

I don't know why so many people dislike this. I think it looks great. I just don't see the classic suite tranlating weel on screen and it never really purveyed "Warrior King" to me.

the classic suit will work fine with the right materials. it's a simple suit, not very hard to get it right. With Wilkinson, they can easily do a good job with the classic suit

I think this may be closer to what is put on screen than anything posted here so far.

If anything the colors will be very muted if they go orange and green. I think it'll be for the same reason as to why the XMen never wore their classing blue and yellow's.

Give him the traditional look as something more ceremonial. When he's kicking ass though, he gets rid of all that.

^ Are people saying that because he's shirtless there or because of his pose. If he was posing in a sort of like battle stance, will it look less "soft-core"? Because while having encountered some book covers of the erotic novels you're on about, I'm not getting the same vibe from this manip unless it's the pose that makes it seem like it's the cover of some women's erotic novels.

I think it's a combination of elements. The soft light, the sunset and the stormy beach setting all contribute. But the brooding expression, the long dyed-blonde ringlets, and the way that leather strap cuts across his extremely shiny pectorals and above his nipples, all give the impression that the design itself has been targeted at a bored soccer mom.

I think it represents the right kind of idea, but it diverges into parody.

Wow, you have been examining that manip quite aggressively, Haha. But I can see where you're coming from. I like the manip as it's the better of a lot of Momoa as Aquaman manips. The look here is something Momoa could pull of well and I've yet to see a manip of him with the classic Aquaman suit that doesn't look odd on him. Unless the green and orange he wears aren't made to be very bright, then I think he can pull that look off.

I like this suit. I's a nice way to incorporate scale-mail (which I obviously have fetish for ) without making it seem too heavy and bulky.

Less of the scale-male too? Yes. It is a very nice design. He'll fit in better within the Justice League with that than the "soft core" erotica design.
