i thiink they were in the original series

deceptIcons.....just a nit pick....and it really depends on who in the movie...cuz jazz and bumblebee are small as is frenzy....and prime and megs are just huge.

In the series all the decepticons, except for Soundwave's 'tapes', tended to be about the same size. The Autobots were of all different sizes.

Originally yes the decpeticons were built for war and the autobots were laborers. The autobots have been playing catch up since Prime was remade.

Yeah, the decepticons were always more dominant physically...The autobots were a bit more...mentally dominant perhaps.

In the original the Deceps were all types of more advanced. Autobots were just the menial labor of Cybertron. ALL Decepticons could fly. Autobots needed jetpacks or could just jump really high. Jetfire was the first (on Earth anyway). No Autobot could mass-shift (until Blaster), several Decepticons could (Soundwave, Megatron, etc.). So on and so forth.

Don't forget about Perceptor. Actually, I don't remember who came out first...but they came out around the same time.

If I'm not mistaken Perceptor only mass shifted once in the entire series during Dinobot Island part 2. All the other times he transformed into a giant microscope including the movie and series after.

Didn't Cosmos mass shift up in size? He seemed to be a regular sized Autobot, yet could hold a couple of Autobot's inside him when a saucer.

Yeah. From my POV they were part of the "second wave" of Transformers that included Blaster, his minions, and a bunch of other useless minibots (Seaspray? :cwink: ) right before the movie came out. I can't remember a single TF that I liked in those releases. The Triple Changers maybe? Those were cool... but, I don't remember if they come out before or after the movie. I was losing interest at that point.

I think they also started to release autobot combiners that time as well. Defensor anyone . Either way the first line was the best, nothing beats the originals.

This is one of the things I am worried about with this film. OMG!! Yes I dont completly kiss Transformers ass. It seems all the Decepticons due to them being military vehicles with the exception of Frenzy are quite big. Thats why I think in terms of Melee fighting the bot battles will be strange. I mean only BB, Jazz and Barricade are around the same size and Prime and Megs of course are close to the same size as well but SS, Brawl, Bonecrusher, and Blackout are massive compared to the remaining 2 autobots Ratchet and Ironhide. Well not really but there pretty damn tall compared to them. So that means that It would be like a 5ft guy vs a 7ft guy in some of the bot fights.

Actually aside from killing Optimus Prime and Ironhide and changing Megatron into Galvatron I love movie and post movie era. Though aside from from Arcee and Scorpinok I hate Headmasters and Weaponmasters make zero sense... ok it was actually a mixed bag but it was an awesome mixed bag.

In the animated series the Decepticons were a little bigger then the Autobots, but the Auto's had strength in numbers. Unfortunatly for the Autobots in the live movie they are out sized and out gunned, this would definatly tip the balance of power in favour to the Decepticon's, lucky there are super powerful humans on earth to defeat the badies

I just assume that the end of the movie sets up a sequel for a more epic number of TF's on both sides, and a possible delving into the Unicron mythos.

It does indeed.

Are you sure about this? Based on the intial autobot and decepticon heights released last year none of the above decepticons should be more than five feet taller than Ironhide and 7 feet taller than Ratchet. That may sound like a lot but, in reality these height differences won't be as drastic as they sound. On the other hand we should all recognize that there is a huge width difference between the autobots and decepticons.:D

Yeah...The Autobots seem "thicker" than the Decepticons..

Well, if the allspark losses it's power to provide the transformers with energy than the G1 plot idea of plundering planets for energy resources immediately becomes relevant.

Good point, with a bit of luck a few elements from the original G1 will be used in the sequel.
