I find that Marvel fans are seriously irritating, both online and in real life. Its like they felt Stan Lee's playful remarks toward DC allowed them act infantile, and they havent looked back since.

Are there any other types of fans that just turn you off?

None really "annoy" me...but I think the lamest group are the Dance Dance Revolution nerds...or maybe the members of the Dr Pepper fanclub.

Fake fanboys. The ones that have a closet full of retro hero shirts, just to find out he or she likes the "look" of the shirt.

And what exactly did Stan Lee say, Batman?

He didnt say anything in particular, its just that in the old days of marvel, he'd make playful comments about DC, as sort of a friendly competition.

Cut to today, and you've got fans and even marvel management acting very childish when it comes to DC.

Meh.

I can see the annoyance, but I never ran across childish behavior. Mostly we just bicker back and forth, then it comes down to all the horrible films Marvel has made. "Oh. . two really good Batman movies, and now Marvel movies suck?"

In short, yes.

I just hope DC doesn't bomb, and the shoe drops.

Really? I'm a Marvel fan, but I haven't noticed anything really terrible being said against DC.

I really can't stand the guys who get into heated discussions and even shouting matches over comic books. Marvel vs. DC, hero vs. hero, etc. Some people just take it way too seriously and are truly offended and angry when you say "I don't read Spider-man" or something of the sort. These guys who seem to go into the comic shop looking for something to argue about.

I dunno, I never see DC fans come to the marvel boards and trash their stuff. Yet, it seems like Marvel fans are always ready to brag about something.

I find any kind of fan who cannot except when something isn't that great, incredibly annoying. The kind that will give something a 10/10 just because, not because it was actually worth it.

Twilight fans who try to tell me about the deeper meaning in the stories. I know stories with meanings, and I still can't find anything deep in Twilight. Especially the movies, which I will continue to watch as more of an acceptable substitute for porn for women than anything else.

But then again I imagine I must be annoying to a lot of people.

1. I'm a devout Whedonite. Very defensive. Will rarely concede that anything he has ever done was less than perfect  (which totally makes me a hypocrite)

2. I am a Superman fan, post crisis era. Usually end up in arguements with people who think Clark Kent is the disguise. Do get quite angry about it.

3. I'm one of those Smallville fans who sometimes only watches it because I love to complain about it.

:D + :(

Been watching since day one, and I do the same. Can't look away, but laugh at how far it has gone.

I don't mind a decent fanboy argument. But I agree, screaming at someone because they don't like Spider-Man, telling said person "how can you identify with a billionaire with a cape and toys?"

It does seem like a personal attack. I don't retort with "and you must read Spider-Man, because you secretly believe there is a hot redhead for every nerd!!" Yeah. . . I said it. :O

It does seem hypocritical. I get made fun of for being a Potter fan, by a guy that has a stack of comics, mostly with half-naked women on the covers, while wearing Elf ears.

Batman fanboys annoy me. I like the character but hate the rabid fans. Especially during the time when The Dark Knight was coming out.

Yes! I find rabid Batman fanboys the most annoying of all.

Extremists. Though that should be obvious. For every particular group that gets called out, there are others just like them from a different perspective. So it's a bit useless to single any one out.

Ok. . because I am a Batfan, I need details. I don't think I act as if Batman owns all, only in jest at times: the whole prep time joke.

But what do these fans do that is so bad? I mean, do these people knock on your door and ask if your user name on the Hype is Prison Mike or katie_girl09, just to beat you up, ala Jay and Silent Bob?

I mean yeah there are alot who annoy me. Nothing to lose sleep over but:
1. Ones who only like something when its unpopular, when it gets mainstream attention they stop liking it
2. Ones who complain all the time about reboots
3. DCfans who try and act like Marvel isnt ahead of the game in terms of live action movies. I love DC characters/stories alot more, but come on.
4. Just to add on to 3. fanboys that have a serious case of "fanboy denial"
5. Ones who just bash everyone else's casting choices

EDIT: Oh a 6. Ones who act like every movie is 90 mins of watching newborn babies killed. I mean the bashing of Green Hornet is ridiculous

You need to get out of the bat cave and get around the board more....

It is VERY MUCH a two way street....:yay:

It's only Fans that yell at other fans. Normal people that I try and talk to about my geekdom just roll their eyes :hehe:

That reminds me - I hate Batman fans who hate Superman and constantly discuss the fact he would 'kick his ass'...

Agreed on all counts.

And I may get stick for saying this, but as someone who knew nothing about the Green Hornet before watching the trailer, I actually do think I will see and enjoy the film for what it is. I mean, if the trailer made me laugh even slightly, it can't be that bad.

yeah I actually think Green Hornet looks pretty fun at the least.

But people going "it's just like Iron Man" like Iron Man was the first rich, playboy superhero and even worse comments are ridiculous

I really cant say that I run into those people in person. Online, however....

And yes, those kinds are my least favorite. The ultra knit picky ones.

I live in NY, one of the countries geek meccas. Believe me, I've run into those guys quite a bit.

Hell, I went into the comic shop once (Jim Hanley's) after a day at the dojo. When giving the guy behind the counter my bag some of my gi poked out. So this nerd proceeded to follow me around the store trying to convince of some something with Daredevil and fighting and how I could never beat him. He went on and on, I said nothing. In fact he seemed quite offended that I would buy Batman and not Daredevil, so I "obviously know nothing about fighting."

Dude, I was just tired and beaten up from teaching 2 classes then attending a black belt class. I was in no mood to argue.

We have one of those at our shop. The guy goes on and on, about the new writers and story lines, and how the days of old will never be again, blah, blah, blah.

Meanwhile, I buy about eight books a month, and he has almost every Marvel and DC title in his box.

Makes no sense.

I totally agree with #1, the "Oh it's not mainstream, so I am superior for liking it" type of fanboy. I've seen it with a lot more than just comic books as well.

Yeah, it's these dudes who talk and talk and talk, then get all confrontational pushing an issue that they don't seem to understand you don't care about. It's as if they think regular social interaction works like a forum where you rattle off reams of your own opinion. I don't care how well a fictional character fights, in fact I don't care how well anyone fights, I've got my own thing to worry about.
