Then what was the point of waiting for the Trailer in the first place???

This sad logic kills me but yeah lets all curb out doubts, gut feelings and taste and pay Fox money to see a pointless rights grab that clearly doesn't support a best interest compared to if it were with Marvel.

I mean if we don't like it and Fox says "Oh well, thanks for the money Chump!" I'm sure Psylokolussus being the stand up person he or she is will gladly reimburse us.

Or just tell us to wait and see the most unanticipated CBM sequel since "Spirit of Vengeance".

Well played. :hehe:

As much at that individual trips over his words it's pretty much like shooting ducks in barrel these. Half of the time he doesn't even realize it and then there's times when he just runs to mods who just gives him the side eye. But's 4stic fans for you.

More likely he will just spin it again to say that there obviously must have been something that people liked for everyone to go and see it anyway, and that these numbers indicate that it is a well-liked film. :whatever:

But even if it is complete crap, he still wants a sequel. :o

What's with the hate of brooding and angst? "Brooding" and "angst" can be used to describe a lot of classic heroes and superheroes, and could be applied to the original and classic Fantastic Four in several scenarios. There was brooding in angst found in THE AVENGERS and several of their solo films, too, and really in most superhero films, modern and classic alike. Just not throughout the entire film/s. But I've seen nothing to suggest that this movie will be nothing but just brooding and angst. People around here seem to think movies must be all one tone. I don't think that's the case at all.

Yeah I agree with what you said.

You said nothing recognizable... the small glipses of power displays from Human Torch and The Thing and even Invisible Woman scream Fantastic Four and Miles resembles a young Reed Richards. And even the shots where they are seen with white/black astronaut suits reminded me of Ff.

Seriously? Those tiny things are all you need?

Look, it's the Human Torch:

Look, It's The Thing:

Look, it's Reed Richards:

Look, Sue Storm has projected a force-field around the Enterprise:

Look, it's the Fantastic Four:

I never realized how many Fantastic Four films I've seen. As long as I allow superficial elements to define them, the Fantastic Four are EVERYWHERE.

So when you saw in a guy with flames all over his body... you clearly thought of that as someone else and not Human Torch? Okay. If you put the things that I mentioned in a trailer... it would appear as a trailer for a Fantastic Four film.

Willi I agree with u most of the time, but this time...nah. None of those pics remind me of FF. Not even close.

And this pic does?

If someone asked you to name the movie that still was taken from, you'd really respond with "Fantastic Four"? How? Why? What screams Fantastic Four about it? Be specific.

You could isolate a still from almost any adaption that doesn't define said concept visually and say "That doesn't scream said adaption".

What does that prove, exactly?

This only applies to things like landscape shots. This is a production still of one of the main heroes in her primary costume and with no prior knowledge there isn't anyone who would guess it to be Sue Storm in her Fantastic Four uniform.

If you took a production still of any Marvel Studios main hero in their primary costume, most of even the general public could name them.

Just like the trailer for FFINO...

Yep, that's exactly the point. Psylocksus claims the trailer looks like the Fantastic Four because it had some guy with flames, a rock guy, Miles Teller looking like Reed Richards, a brief glimpse of a force field and some space suits.

But those brief scenes didn't make this trailer look like Fantastic Four anymore than those scenes I posted made those films and TV shows look like Fantastic Four.

If it's a still of a character in full costume, it actually should scream said adaption. Or, at the very least, resemble it.

This isn't a still of Sue in her street clothes.

So all the Fantastic Four are to you are their powers?

That's the only thing that makes them recognizably the Fantastic Four?

Well, if that's the case...then damn. The teaser barely even featured THAT outside of half second shots, wide shots, and super quick cuts.

They didn't even get THAT right in literally our FIRST LOOK at this movie.

Not just Marvel, but practically any comic book adaptation regardless of studio. The only major exception I can think of is Charles Xavier in First Class and that is pretty much entirely because he's a much younger version of the character than we are used to. We got to see the proper version in Patrick Stewart's portrayal first.

Even bad costumes like the one from Green Lantern are recognizable as being that character.

Oh my god it's a still of one of the lead superheroes of the movie in her official "costume." :funny:

What the hell else could they use to "define said concept visually"?

That it isn't recognizable to "said concept visually" is the fault of the people behind the movie.

I vote yes. They are the blandest looking costumes.

It's like they said.... that's all superficial. That doesn't make him the Human Torch. They're more to him than simply "A Man on fire".

I'm down with what we've seen so far. MBJ lighting up in the hallway especially gave me chills.

Ahh no. What I disagreed about your post is you said NOTHING resembled Fantastic Four and thats just not true. Nothing is a strong word. Maybe if the trailer just had four people in the trailer walking wearing casual clothes and no power displays, then you would be right but thats not the case. Like it or not, there are shots in the trailer that felt like the Fantastic Four or looked like they are a FF character.

I would LOVE to see something that felt or looked like the Fantastic Four. A few very quick scenes that look like they could be powers related to the Fantastic Four doesn't make it look or feel like the Fantastic Four.

When we saw the Thor trailer, did that look and feel like Superman because there was a strong guy in it?

Maybe to you but it didn't look like Superman to me.

Anyway going back to your original post, it is still far from nothing. You said it yourself, that from the group shot, people would recognize the Thing. So its not nothing.

They remind YOU of the FF. Good for you.

The Thing is the only thing recognizable, and he's only in it for less than 10 seconds.

Even the logo is one that was never used in the comics.
