The Dark Knight Are we getting a love triangle?

With the absence of any kind of romantic interest in Begins, I welcome this plotline.

Wayne's romantic interest in Rachael is prevalent all throughout Begins. From when Bruce meets with Carmine in his club before he goes on sabbatical, and Falcone mentions that he can get to Rachael. And all the way to the end of the movie, Bruce constantly had an affectionate spot for Rachael.

Whoa...Johansson is a great actress! Have you seen Girl with a Pearl Earring, she is amazing in that. Unfortunately, she had nothing to do in The Prestige...it was a bit part....

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Nolan and I think The Prestige is his finest achievement to date, but he and Jonah fumbled a bit with the part of Olivia.
I have not. What I have seen her in (Lost In Translation, The Prestige, The Black Dahlia), has not impressed me.

You kind of answered my point. It hasn't happened in any of his other movies, I don't see why this film would be any different.

There is simply too much going on in this film for the love triangle to be anything major.

I HIGHLY recommend Girl with a Pearl Earring. Great film and she really is impressive. I liked her a lot in Lost in Translation. The Black Dahlia is just a complete piece of ****. All of the actors involed were subpar but it was not their fault. DePalma is an awful director and the script was just terrible. All the talent involved was lost in a mire of crap filmmaking.

I hate Lost In Translation, think it's the most overrated movie of the decade. As a big James Ellroy fan, The Black Dahlia was a crushing disappointment.

Bruce's concern for Rachel all thru Begins came across as concern for a friend. Childhood pals. Nothing more. They were not shown to have any kind of sexual tension, or attraction to eachother.

The ending scene where she says she loved him came completely out of left field.

Seriously? Come on now.

Wow....I can think of other films to bear that titel, but fair enough.

As an Ellroy fan myself, I was also deeply disappointed with the final product. DePalma should really not be allowed to make films. He has only done 3 good ones in my opinion....

I completely disagree with that. Bale and Holmes (somewhat) convey through their interactions. It is not explicit (ie through dialogue) but it is there.

Give me examples, please.

When did she tell him that she loved him? Stop making **** up.

Give me examples, please.

Examples? How about the way they look at eachother when he runs into her at the hotel. Come on... it is right freaking their in the eyes man!

I'd say that the relationship between Rachel and Bruce was somewhere between a romantic one and a friendship.

Give me examples, please.

I don't think they're really are too many examples honestly, but I think it kinda shows that some of us maybe saw a subtle connection or attraction in there, like the first time Bruce sees Rachel again after coming back. While Rachel's look seems to be like "Hey an old friend I haven't seen in a while" I think Bruce's look was more "Wow, Rachel you look great." I think you can go both ways maybe. And his concern over protecting Rachel during the chase scene seemed like he cared about her maybe a little more than a friend. He became gentle and kind in the car when she was hallucinating, and saying "Stay with me" and holding her.

A look in their eyes? This is the basis for their supposed love for eachother? Nope, don't buy it at all.

- Certainly no attraction to eachother as little kids.
- When they meet again as grown ups for Joe Chill's hearing, they joke about how they used to steal the powdered milk from the high shelves Alfred put them on etc. The rest is just Rachel lecturing him about justice and corruption in Gotham.
- When they meet at the hotel, Rachel says he may be the same great kid underneath. Hardly an indication she's attracted to him. He doesn't ask her if she's seeing anyone. And vice versa.
- The birthday gift she gives him is a childhood trinket.

Now, can you tell me where exactly this deep hidden love was? Because it all came across as childhood friendship and concern as friends.

^I got the impression from the last scene of BB (and some of the romantic tension in the film) that Rachel and Bruce were each others childhood sweethearts, but because of Bruce's double life they could never extend past that. Rachel can't love someone who is two people (but the jokes going to be on her isn't it :oldrazz:)

usually in a superhero movie it's always the hero going "we can't be together.....just in case."

In this point (from what was set up in Begins), Bruce wants a relationship with Rachel, but she won't with him.

Leave it to Nolan to flip the standards on their head. :)

ha, I like that way of looking at it as well.

I also think it there will be many factors that will puch Dent over the edge. What we have seen, both from rumours and the virals, suggest this.

I'd buy that if we had not seen them together as kids, and acting like nothing but typical playful kids. Running and hiding, playing little jokes on eachother etc.

Considering how in your face Begins was about it's themes and messages, the supposed attraction between Rachel and Bruce was completely absent.

What? You didn't have a crush on a girl at that age?

Well it seems they plan on making it a whole lot clearer in this film.

I don't know how any guy could love a woman whose every word sounds snotty and condescending. I hope Maggie sorts that out!

At 8 or 9 years old? No, I really didn't. I didn't start noticing girls like that until I was around 10.

And it was not evident that there was any attraction between Bruce and Rachel in any way whatsoever in the Bruce/Rachel childhood scenes.

Well it seems they plan on making it a whole lot clearer in this film.

And as I already said, I welcome it, as we got no romantic plotline for Bruce in Begins.

Yeah and slaps him repeatedly, pshhh

It's gonna be more of a jealously thing with Bruce.. thats what it looked like

I find the love triangle thing ******ed. Simple as that.

Not only is Rachel not even worthy for such a thing, but she already turned Bruce down! WTF is Bruce doing by longing for her? Makes him look pathetic.

Out of all the superheroes, Bats is the last one needing this romantic crap. :down
