The Dark Knight Are we getting a love triangle?

Sounds cool to me. Not a big fan of "love stories" But this could work and could fit well into why two face is who he is. With joker killing her and harvey blaming bats for it would fit nicely in my mind. Thus would explain why batman grabs someone in the first trailer screaming "where is he" thus is why he is so angry looking for joker.

in regards to bruce not being allowed to be whiny or compassionate about a woman or really, anything, this is the new beginnning for the character in cinema..

so it's his early days..

like in casino royale, where at the end he learnt his lesson & that's how he becomes the "who cares, love them and leave them" badass super spy in the other movies..

maybe this is bruce's lesson to not let things or people get close to him..
for fear of them being used against him..

except for alfred of course..

From what the description of a new trailer is, it sounds like we're getting a love triangle between Bruce, Rachel, and Harvey. Does anyone else have any concerns about this? Especially if one of the reasons Harvey gets driven over the edge is because of the

The quick answer is Yes.

Bruce doesn't actually want to bone Rachael though, he just wants to make sure she's in good hands. I don't think there'll be a love triangle - I think Bruce will become upset when Rachael is placed in danger because of Harvey's crusade.

Later on, the brunt of Dents tragedy will be conveyed though Rachael. That's why it's stupid to expect that she will die.

I'm not too worried about it. Nolan is smart. He probably just added the love triangle to complicate things even more for Bats/Bruce. Unless if it has some sort of huge impact on Harvey and his fate or actions, I highly doubt a significant amount of time will be spent swelling on it. Either way, I trust Nolan will balance it out well and certainly won't make it cheesy.

Perhaps Rachael's death fuels Harvey into becoming Two-Face?

Because we certainly haven't gotten any info as to how Two-Face becomes who he is (ie Harvey's personality in TAS).

I see The Dark Knight establishing Batman as someone who completely abandons relationships after the death of Rachel keeps him away from his true mission of justice to Gotham. Perhaps he only finds it again when Catwoman arrives.

You might have had a point, had this not already been covered in the first film.

BB was the time to sort out all those mistakes and apprehensions about coming into the role full-time. Going over it again is moving backwards.

But this movie could be where Bruce realises that he will never win his war on crime, that he will have to keep fighting forever. It isn't going to be a simple matter of putting away a few mob bosses and then back to the day job. We could see his idealism tempered by the reality of protecting Gotham against a seemingly never-ending stream of freaks and gangsters.

^ At the end of BB Rachel says "one day that man will come back" so yeah that issue is still very much alive. In TDK Bruce will LET Rachel fall into Harveys arms because he knows he's not, and is realising he will probably never be, the Bruce she used to know. Then Harvey gets splashed and she dies 50 years later unmarried and childless. She does not die in TDK, I bet my boots.

I thought Rachel was saying while Batman was around? If Bruce hangs up the cape then maybe she'll come around. There was a good story somewhere, the blogger was comparing Bruce/Rachel to Clark/Lois in Superman Returns. If the hero goofs off, he may find his girl has kicked him to the curb. Lois got engaged to someone else because Clark decided to take an extended vacation.

There is a love story/interest in all great movies. You may not realize it, but there is.
