Are we over spoiled, over-exposed, and expecting too much?

Do we just know too much???

There is nitpicking, and there are people who are nearly impossible to please and who´ll trash a movie cuz of a scene they didn´t like or something they think doesn´t make sense - and often it does make sense, they just weren´t paying attention. But sometimes people will say a movie sucks because, well, it sucks. The story doesn´t work, the direction doesn´t work, it doesn´t work as a MOVIE, not simply as a comic book adaptation.

On paper, Fantastic Four is a relatively faithful adaptation. It gets basic facts and ideas from the comics. And it still is a piece of crap movie cuz the tone is all wrong, the writing is subpar, the direction has no sense of vision or style or mood or anything and some of the actors were incredibly miscast.

I´ll save judgement on GR cuz it hasn´t opened in my country yet, but from the look of it I fear it suffered the curse of Fantastic Four... I mean, who cares the movie sucked, it was still a BO hit, right? Better than taking itself so seriously like Hulk did and disappointing, riiiiight? - Unless it wasn´t being serious that plagued Hulk, but that´s another story... So now Marvel may think they must fill ALL their movies with lame puns and one-liners, cuz that worked SO well with FF, riiiiight? Except in this case they´re being used for a story of a guy WHO WAS CURSED for SELLING HIS SOUL TO THE DEVIL and now becomes a HIDEOUS MONSTER WHO HAS TO FIGHT DEMONS EVERY NIGHT... You´d think the first two X-Men, the first two Spider-Man, Batman Begins, Hellboy, God the director´s cut of Daredevil, for Chrissakes, that all that would have taught something... You´d think..

Yah, there is much that could go wrong, but you've got to admit there's been some amazing casting, and the myspace thing seems like a good strategy.
Plus it's got the advantage of being mostly influenced by Marvel Studios, who I figure wouldn't be as eager to slaughter their character as some Fox executive or what have you.

Yes, it has a very good casting so far, and....that´s it!
That´s the only thing it has for it right now.
And the question that should be in everyone´s mind, Is Favreau good enough to helm Iron Man?

No one makes that question, and there is no evidence that he is any good for it, except fanboy faith.

My first reaction is, No, he is not good for it.
I might be wrong, is too early in the game, but, and because so far i was never wrong, i´ll say that Iron Man is not going to be all that.

GR wasn't put out by Fox. FF and GR were both done by Marvel.

Bubonic if you are going to be negative, at least have the facts right.

Why did you join the hype? I see you have 6 posts and all of them are negative on the film.

What is up?

Considering the amount it is for a ticket these days, plus the millions of dollars poured into these productions, limitless amounts of source material and with the bar raised so high with Batman Begins, X1/X2, Spiderman and Blade there is absolutely no reason these films shouldn't be brilliant.

YES!! Finally someone nails it! I couldn't put it any better and can't believe more folks don't agree with you.

Sorry for not having the proper facts, I just heard that Iron Man is going to be the first film with more control comming from Marvel Studios?

I joined the hype cause I've been reading post for two weeks on here, not thinking I should bother joining, but I couldn't take the lack of interactivity, and needed to get my piece of mind accross, and hopefully get some answers.

My objective isn't to be a troll, I'm a bit let down at the momment, yet as I've mentioned, there's a good amount of the film that did it for me.

Bubonic, you are a plague to this board!!!

thanks ultimatefan, but yah, it's a history inspired joke so it's all in good fun.

What is up?

What is up is the guy is honest. What is up is GR is sub-par movie. Take a peek on Rotten Tomatoes if you're still in denial.

And welcome to Bubonic! Keep calling it like you see it. I still get cussed for being a negative noob and I've been on this site back when it was Spider-Man Hype . . . a lot of these kids posting were still in utero then.

Thanks for the support, I'm really not seeking to bash the film, but I don't see whats wrong with having a point of view if you can back it up with some reasonable enough arguments.
If all I offered was obscene comments, and being ignorant about ok, but I know thats not what I'm doing.

Oh and Roland, how do you manage to have only 18 post after about 6 years!!!

I dunno . . . ask Dew. I don't live on these boards and read far more than I post, but I suspect my profile was "reset" when this site got a major overhaul from "Spider-Man Hype" (for the 1st film in 2002) up to the more inclusive "Super-Hero Hype."

All of my past brilliant posts have gone . . . like tears . . in rain.

Ah well, it's just a #.
I'm sure it's not all forgotten.

Oh and let it be known that on the other boards I participate on, I spend my time defending this movie. Here, I know most have, or will see it anyways, so I'm not going to affect sales or whatnot.

I would like to know if the movie is doing well so far.Like i said, and some others..it will be average. What`s the verdict so far?

You should have put a maybe in there. Afterall, everyone has the choice to be as exposed as they want to be.

Answer to the question - No.

Ghost Rider was just a very, VERY bad movie. It happens. A lot, actually.

*Shrug*

^ Don't state your opinion as a fact because MOST people enjoyed it on these boards and in the general public. Just check the polls and the box office. The critics don't represent the public and neither do you.

The most people enjoyed a very bad, bad movie.

=)

Your opinion is not fact Vile...

A message from Ghost Rider to everyone who takes their opinion as fact:

^ No it's more like all the angry bitter militant fanboys who pesonal tastes aren't inline with the masses can't enjoy it while the normal people can. :) I'm sick of the holier than thou attitude on these boards. It's really pathetic all the haters and bashing over MSJ, Rothman, Ratner, etc...I can just imagine what some of you would do if Bryan Singer walked into the room! Master Master only you can make mediorce films that we enjoy!

Personally, I think as a general consensus, everyone is too hard on films. It's a piece of art created by many and should be enjoyed as that without involving any of your own desires for the film, because frankly, it's not yours or anybody's film.

If you're not into the film, great, don't watch it again but, these "It should of been this and it should have been that's" drive me bananas. That's just me though.

Getting back to AD's original post, he has a very valid point. I recall going to see some movie with the guys I worked with in London (which they were raving about) and knew absolutely squat about it - seeing "The Matrix" like that just blew my mind!
I cant say that I went into GR that way, though my expectations of this movie were so low that after seeing it I was pleasantly surprized. I dont think it was in the Matrix league but I was entertained for 2 hours.

Just my 2 cents.
