I cannot play a 3rd of FPS game without switching the right stick to inverted. It's just natural to me to pull back to look up. I don't see it as down. I think of the controller as being parallel to the floor and pushing forward looks down...like a plane.

Are you inverted?

Only in flying games. I used to be inverted for FPS, then I tried standard, didn't like it. Then I tried to go back to inverted, didn't like it. So I stuck with standard, stuck it through the adjusting period and here I am in the land of up meaning up and down meaning down!

But it's not up and down. It's forward and back. Do you hold your controller vertical when playing??? When I play a FPS or 3rd person I'm usually holding it with the control panel facing the ceiling. So pushing it up is not really up but forward. :) When you look up you pull your head back. You don't push it up.

Well. I don't really want to be that immersed in a game.

How can you not be immersed in a FPS? That's the whole point? Try it some time. ;)

But it's soooo awkward if you aren't airborne. :(

^ I guess it's aquired. I can't play without it being inverted. I think the original Turok did that to me.

I go both ways.
For some FPS's, I use standard, and some I use inverted.
I always use inverted for flying games.

I can learn to adapt to inverted as I did in my fav. nostolgic shooter, Goldeneye.

But for modern playing? I can't stand it in Halo, Medal of Honor, Metroid Prime or my shooter of choice Call of Duty (COD2 still has the best multi-shooter on 360 IMO).

Oh for flying games (like Rogue Squadron) I do prefer inverted.

You talking about if you hold the camera stick up it goes down and holding it down makes it go up?:o

Sometimes that annoys me.

It's not up or down really. If you're holding the controller normally it's forward and backward. If you want to aim a gun down it's natural to push forward I think. If you want to aim up it's natural to pull back on the gun.

I have to play inverted with a joystick, in FPS and flight games. I just can't wrap my head around "up is up, down is down" :(

I've tried to explain this to people forever, and they all look at me like I'm crazy.

I do the inverted only for flying games.

Otherwise, it's just natural for me to think up=up and down=down.

I don't get the inverted thing. I figure you're brain must be wired funny if you think up is down. I hate games that have inverted as default. I thought people who do inerted were a minority but according to this poll I am wrong.

What if the default is what you make it though? Like at the start of the game if it inverts or not based on how you initially look around?

Well that is why some argue the PC (or maybe one day the Wii's) controls are better as it is point and shoot.

I personally right now like two joysticks the best though.
