Are you inverted???

Do you prefer inverted?

  • Yes I am inverted! :)

  • No inverted does NOT work for me. :(

  • I go both ways! ;)

  • Huh?

All that matters is that inverted is winning. I am sad to see some of the people playing with "default" settings though... DACrowe and Capt. Thobberson to be exact.

Not as sorry as I am. It's okay though. We can still be friends. We just can't talk anymore. :(

I don't get the inverted thing. I figure you're brain must be wired funny if you think up is down. I hate games that have inverted as default. I thought people who do inerted were a minority but according to this poll I am wrong.

Think of the joystick as your neck and head.

I suppose I was inverted back in the days when Goldeneye was the shooting console. But when games like Medal of Honor came out or third person shooters from Mission:Impossible to Splinter Cell to Gun even, it just didn't feel right. And I redapated and ever since on two stick controls I have been that way.

What if the default is what you make it though? Like at the start of the game if it inverts or not based on how you initially look around?

How would that work? You use the either inverted or uninverted(verted?) controls to look around, so using a "adapt to how the player looks around" system would be impossible or redundant, as the controls would need to be set as one or the other to allow you to look around.

I play inverted btw.

I think of the controller as being parallel to the floor and pushing forward looks down...like a plane.

The only controller I've held parallel to the floor was the controller for the Atari 2600.

The rest are held almost perpendicular

^ Maybe but then you're not sitting straight up right? You're leaning back a bit or lying down.

When I sit straight, the controller still isn't parallel to the ground. Holding it like that is bit uncomfortable.

I've never played a game while lying down

I dabble with both techniques. Usually with camera's I adapt either way but generally with flight and FPS I use inverted.

Never? Not even lying on your stomach?

Anyway, it's been so long since I played an FPS on a console that I can't even remember whether I'm normal or inverted. I'm whatever the console equivalent to how a mouse works is, I guess.

I'm a recently converted non-invert. Just got tired of pressing down when I wanted to aim up, call me crazy. The only games I prefer inverted controls for are flight sims, really.

For flight games: inverted. For shooters: not inverted.

I just hold it where it comfortable which is a variety of positions given how into the game I'm in and how tired/alert I am. Keep in mind the Wii has changed that and keeps my hands much more carefully postioned, but I don't mind unless I'm sleepy.

I see how that could work on a joystick, but I never use joysticks. On game controllers its not natural to do that. Atleast not for me.

I don't see a difference between a joystick and an analog stick. They tilt the same way.

I think that has a lot to do with it as well.

yeah... maybe if i was born with halo default controlls i would be used to it.
but no, i always have to change the controlls to "goldeneye" settings..haha:woot:

At the very start of the game it enables the inverted or not based on what the player does. Like in The Darkness, you have to look up at the beginning of the game. If you press down to look up, inverted. If not, default. :word: Then there's Halo with it's more obvious way of doing it with looking at the lights.

I can't play any other way than inverted... normal just drives me insane, I'd rather pull back to raise and push forward to go down

I cannot play a 3rd of FPS game without switching the right stick to inverted. It's just natural to me to pull back to look up. I don't see it as down. I think of the controller as being parallel to the floor and pushing forward looks down...like a plane.

Are you inverted?

Only in flying games, but shooting games, no. Which fps games do you play? Im hooked on UT2004
