Are You Single???

And some married people file as 'Single', what's your point?

Ahhhh...but you know my point. :yay:
See... they can go both ways. They at least have a legal document that states marriage.

So I ask again.....how do you file?

The mistake you make is you assume I'm trying to change your mind. I'm simply stating by view on your subject, I'm quite certain you're very happy with your narrow view of things. :cwink:

I'm not assuming that at all, my friend. We're just sharing points of view on an interesting topic.

And in this world where up is down and green is red.......narrow is a good thing. :cwink:

Up is down in outer space.

Then again, in outer space there is no up or down.

Another question......Why isn't it called "adultery" when your boyfriend or girlfriend has sex with someone other than you....?? I mean since you're not single and all.......:whatever:

Yes, it's cheating. But it's never called adultery. Why?

Because only Churches and Courts, use the word 'Adultery'.

I see your point, I quess, but why take things so literal? But whatever, to each their own and such...

First year married and haven't done my taxes yet. I'll ge back to you in two weeks. :ninja:

I am single.

Unattached.

Not involved with any female at this time.

First of all, it makes perfect sense. That just means she's not the type to try and have two or three boyfriends at one time. She's a one-man woman while they are seeing each other. All others...please back off.

And yet how does being with someone still allow a person to call themselves single? The very core of the word means to be singular, as in only one, as in without someone or something else. And yet by your definition you can be single AND be with someone? No? You mean you can be single and still be in a relationship, just as long as you don't go over that one relationship and start seeing multiple partners? So as long as you're a "one woman guy" you're single?

The hell?

I no longer own my balls, all free will is drained from them.

Yes I'm married.

Help.

You're typing from the closet aren't you?

Deemar's wife: Deemar!!! Where are you!?! You better not be on that computer.

*Deemar typing furiously*
"Call the Police."

"only" churches and courts? Now who's being narrow? :yay:

Why not be literal? Why blur the lines between singleness and marriage?

Oh well....

Wow...this is what I'm talking about. When something that has been understood so simply, for hundreds (if not thousands) of years has you scratching your head, this is not progress.

Context rules the definition of a word. "Single" can mean alone, solo etc....depending on the context (i.e. the subject or its use). The "context" of our discussion screams for the "unmarried" definition because of the subject. We are talking about the distinction between single and married.

A married person can be single if the context is him or her taking a trip alone or something of that nature. then "single" changes it's meaning. But they would not be single in the context of a discussion of marriage.

So if I am not married, I am single. That is my status. Yes, I might have a girlfriend. But she ain't my wife. I may stay true to her. But I am still single.

Slim, are you just going out of your way to be different, or are you genuinely from another planet?

This doesn't have anything to do with context, the deterioration of society, or the lack of progress in the human species. This has to do with you twisting the matter in a way that no one here can even understand. But I take it we're all just a bunch of uneducated conformists who have no understanding of how the world is supposed to work according to ancient cultures who believed you can be in a romantic relationship with someone and somehow still be single.

A head scratcher? You bet'cha.

I figured these were the responses I'd get.

Really celldog, if you knew the response why did you make this thread? You come here to argue semantics taking on a position that you know goes against the common usage of the word. That leads me to believe you simply came looking for a fight so you can continue to whine about how you are in the minority. Don't go throwing out bait if you aren't prepared for a bite.

And how did you get this conclusion from my statement? LOL :woot:

Read my lips......If you are not married, you are single. No matter if you have one or MULTIPLE boyfriends or girlfriends.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT ARE COMIN' OUTTA MY MOUTH???

Wondered when you'd poke your nose in here. And since when did "I disagree with you" equate to "I want to fight you"? Why don't you just leave if you want no part of what's on my mind?

or can't you help yourself? Am I that compelling?? :yay:

You're looking for a fight as you claim to have expected the results you are getting and came here arguing something as stupid as the common usage of the word single. You are obnoxious. Don't you have a Muslim to discriminate against or something?

I don't get why "Memphis Slim" bolds random words in his posts. It's kind of confusing.

On most forms, true it's either single, married or divorced and occasionally widowed. However, this is usually reserved for medical, government type applications.

You are arguing semantics about the word "single" even though if you think about the word itself, "single" means solitary, one. So saying I'm single in reference to relationship means the absense of a partner or mate. I don't really understand why this is such an issue.

If I didn't have a gaydar before, I certainly have one now.

And you're breaking it.

WTF are you talking about? How do I look gay? Because of my smile?

I no longer own my balls, all free will is drained from them.

I dunno. Getting the free will drained from my balls on a regular basis is one of the nice things about being married, if you ask me. :hyper:

Looks like celldog might be having trouble coping with a world that does not mesh with his views and ideals, though. :o

jag

I don't understand that either. I was with this girl who didn't like labels so despite doing things that i feel would constitute "more than friends" I was still just a friend and she was still single? Oh wait she had a lot of guy friends like that !! :o :o I was used!

Why does it have to be a "fight"?? It's your problem that you don't like where I'm comin' from. But it doesn't have to be a fight.

You are obnoxious.

Thank you kindly.... :yay:
Don't you have a Muslim to discriminate against or something?

None available at this moment. :hyper:
