What are the pros & cons of being single? I recently dated a guy but called it off because I was starting to feel weighed down.

Pros
* Independance - Not being on lock down
* Don't have to worry about looking decent all the time, if I want to slob out in baggy pants & T-Shirt I can!
* Who's to say a girl can't have fun!
* Freedom to spend more time with friends & family
* If I want to go out drinking I don't have to ask permission (its an epidemic here)
* Don't have to ask for a second opinion on anything.
* Watch films in peace!

Cons
* The question! Do you have a boyfriend? The most annoying question ever.
* Questions about being attracted to men or women!
* Funny looks from happy couples. Why?!
* Dodgy questions from friends in a relationship.

What are your pros & cons?

no reason why your pros for being single can not be pros for being a couple.

you just need to find the right / better guy.

I haven't encountered any "cons" in being single

Pros: Sole control of the toilet and remote.

Cons: No one to go to the game with me. (though if I had an extra tick to the Georgia game, and called StorminNorman, he'd probably go)

Pro: Any money you have is for you & you alone.

The Majority of people I know who are in relationships are always complaining about how they never have enough/any money. Where as all my single mates (me included) never seem to have that worry. Funny that. ;) lol

well, I've been in a relationship for a year now and it's still just like when we started

we spend a lot of time with each other, we actually live together, yet we mantain our freedom, if anyone wants to go out with their friends, there's no fuzz about it

we do make our best to look great for each other, but we also slack it off every now and then, and we're comfortable with each other either way

the girl has all the fun she wants, so does the boy (of course, we don't go out and **** other people, but who needs to when the sex is so mindblowing?)

we respect each other's opinons and ideas, she's a fledging pagan and I'm an agnostic catholic, she's a true metal head, I'm an indie hipster, she's all for tattoos and piercings and I'm not really that keen about it... I could go on forever

we both love cinema

and to top it off, we're both teachers (I've been told I'm very good at it, I know she's an excelent mentor), we are songwritting buddies in the band where I play guitar and she sings, and we share a deep love for smoking pot

and yes, we're both divorced from our first marriages

But it's easy for you. You can use "selective hearing" as a legit excuse

ah but my friends and family know enough to face me when they talk to me

I sometimes think what it would be like to be single again.

It can be as expensive with taking women out especially if you are dating more than one. Dinner and entertainment can be expensive and not because you want to impress her but just dinner and drinks and a show or going can have you spending a lot every weekend.

Then there's the self image which I know some of you will disagree with but when I was dating, I spent a lot of time in the gym and made sure I was always dressed nicely which meant going shopping.

There's the lack of the "comfort" issue. Jeans and a sweatshirt or just hanging out to watch tv. I know that's what some people do on the date but before you reach that comfort issue there is a little intrepedation when you are just sitting there with somewhat of a stranger.

Just the dating scene in general. Ugh. I dislike clubs. Don't mind bars but then what sort of girl (besides the obvious :p) would you find there?

Pro: Don't have to answer to anyone except yourself when it comes to money, hanging out with friends, how late you stay out and of course who your weekly new sex partner is.

Con: There's noone home waiting for you when you get home from work.
