Arnold Is Back for Terminator 5

Oh yeah most definitely. T3 has some big issues but I genuinely don't understand how franchise fans can enjoy Salvation. Aside from some small geeky moments, the whole film is a mess of stupidity and continuity destruction.

Bale and maybe Anton Yelchin. Bale could play in a Uwe Boll movie his fans would find the movie to be good.

I'm on the wait and see stance about T5, I don't really nerdgasm at Arnold come back, I found him to be lacking acting wise in Expendable 1/2 and the trailer for Last Stand didn't do it for me.

It had it's head shaking moments with the whole parody of T2 moments. But TS had very few good scenes, the pace was just off, It just didn't really feel like a terminator movie. Agreed, Salvation messed with the lore set-up by the first 2 movies a lot more than T3 did as well, and T3's ending is just amazing, probably the best ending in the series. Salvation had some good set-pieces, but not one powerful moment.

I'm a Bale fanatic AND don't like TS. Then again I'm probably a bigger Terminator fanatic than anything. Either way, TS wins over T3 for effort, but none of them are any good.

I think T3&Salvation are both overall underrated and I enjoy them when I see them in Terminator marathons I have every now&then..But I agree there weak overall and T1&2 are by far superior in every way even today!

I'm not sure about a T5 But I won't shoot it down yet until I know the story/characters&type of direction and at least see the teaser trailer.

As for Arnold..I don't care about his age in his new movies But I don't want him as a new T-800,I still want him involved though in some role on screen,I agree with others that he'd be perfect as a resistance general or scientist who becomes the template for T1's terminator using his young self's image.

Who else thinks the writers for the film are completely random? One's good (Laeta) and the other is..bad. Random, and I can see more writers coming in. I guess the Ellisons want to see a narrative foundation to work on and go from there.

I agree, it will be a total joke if he's cast as a Terminator again. They were stretching it big time when they cast him in T3 Rise of the Machines, and that was 10 years ago - He got into very good shape for it but still looked noticeably older than the previous films. And he's aged considerably since then also. Terminators don't age.

Of course, Hollywood being Hollywood, they might pull a Benjamin Button and send Arnold down the CGi route like in T4 ................. which would be equally horrible.

The tech has improved to do it plus if it's under the right hands of a vfx company like WETA, it could work.


For the most part in Legacy, they made CLU look believable.

I don't see what's the problem of Arnie playing the terminator. They can very well explain his older look in the story. Remember that the idea of the Terminators to look human is because the machines want the people to better accept their appearance. His skin is only a shell. They can use however old they want. It's still a cyborg beneath.
And by the way with every next movie Arnie is starting to look more and more like the good old days.
Right now he is not very far from the T3 look:

I would be more concerned about his role in Conan where he's playing naked.

Ugh, no thank you. As great as the technology is now, it still will not look photorealistic. It didn't in Tron: Legacy and it won't now. The Na'vi in Avatar looked pretty real because they are not human, but we all know a real human face when we see one. Plus, this next Terminator will not have a Lord of the Rings-sized budget.

If Arnold is too old to play a Terminator, which he is, then he shouldn't play one. If I was Arnold, I would have enough common sense and self-pride to not participate in the role again. If he's playing an aged human who was once the model for the T-800, awesome. But then we'd still need a CGI Arnold for the T-800 which is going to suck.

IMO, they should wait a little longer and then reboot. This franchise is OVER.

Arnold should be in movies with scenarios to compete against the new type of movies Such as Mama or Hansel and Gretel that were getting nowadays, not the old formula that’s made him popular back in the 80’s
Like he should play a genius with a beard (because he looks better now with a beard) who has just been Fred by an idiot like Aladdin after convincing him to do so
and now he sets out to take revenge on the descendent of the people who imprisoned him for thousands of years in that goddamn forsaken bottle,
searching them and killing them horribly one by one on all the four corners of the earth.
It’s a new type of terminator without using the method of a terminator.
Remember the movie storm of the century!?
It would be something like that except with ten times the gores, and the villagers would have to sacrifice their children by the dozen in order for him to spare them.

Man I can't wait for David Ayer's Ten. I think we will see the most bloodshed in a Arnold film since Commando.
