The latter trio don't have the quality of films at their disposal. Where's the new Cameron, or McTiernan, or Woo?

^directors today have evolved no good director wants to just do action films they want more story, depth, and very well written characters

damn, i didn't expect the film to do this bad. thought for sure it would be in the top 3 this weekend.

I'm a huge Arnold fan but the days of the macho action hero are long gone, nowadays people are into the sensitive thinking man's action movie looking like Matt Damon and Tom Cruise. Not only that but I didn't even enjoy The Expendable movies much, they just lacked that charm.

I was thinking of watching this tomorrow but now I'm a bit iffy on it because it looks awful that I might see something else.

Don't know how Stallone's Bullet To The Head will fare any better.

Bourne sort of changed everything imo in terms of non-superhero action heroes. Audiences today tend to want an action hero they sort of can identify with so not the overly muscled guys and also someone who is a little deeper than just being a pure killing machine.

The Rock can get by because he has a natural charisma and sense of humor that a young arnold had actually. I suppose the old arnold might not be needed anymore in that case.

I love mega stars such as Arnold&Sly and always will,I still enjoy their movies and want them to continue..But I admit I love seeing the new generation of badasses too,A shame that it seems they can't co-exist in the public's eye and on film even in their own films!!

Both generations seem too big for Hollywood and only a few badasses can remain..And much of the audience have chosen to dump Arnold&Sly!:(

It's like when Arnold/Sly&Willis replaced John Wayne/Clint Eastwood&Charles Bronson,Eastwood was smart though by moving to drama full time and so he has remained relevant,People stopped caring about Wayne&Bronson for their last few films and the audience focus was on the new badasses.

I was gonna go see this but the word of mouth wasn't that great for this. Plus the trailers didn't really impress me all that much. Arnold is past his prime and pretty much should hang it up for good or just do cameo's in the expendables movies. With this movie flopping hardcore, it seems unlikely that he will star in the rumored Terminator 5.

I'm actually very surprised this got slaughtered. I wasn't expecting huge numbers, but I thought it'd at least come in at #2 or something.

What an abysmal opening.

Nowadays the male lead has to be able to beat the **** out of you while having enough charm to make the ladies wet while still being versed in nuclear physics.

The Rock is not a big action star on his own. Most of his bigger hits he headlined were goofy comedies or other franchises.

Well, being a huge Arnie fan I had to go see this tonight. Went with some buddies and enjoyed it for the most part. Arnie is clearly the best part of the movie and they give him some nice action scenes and a handful of solid one-liners to play with.

The script has its issues, though. I felt like this was a 30 minute movie stretched out for an hour and a half. The most interesting story is Arnie's small-town sheriff story, but for whatever dumb reason (I'm guessing to fill time) they constantly cut back to the useless FBI fluttering about angrily or the villain driving his car (which, by the way, he drives for the entirety of the film, so we're treated to pointless scenes where he's *spoilers* just driving...) which kills the pace most of the time and never really seems to amount to anything.

All in all, it's a pretty fun romp for Arnie fans but I'd understand if general audience didn't give two craps about it. Not his best film, but a good start for his comeback.

So, I saw this movie today............not.......terrible..........not good.....but yeah......decent Arnie movie :)

People have to remember, these type of movies are not going to be the kind that actually win awards or get sequels, these are the type that are there to just plain out entertain, be cheesy but not Syfy channel cheesy LOL, blow **** up, and leave with a guilty pleasure that you actually enjoyed a film like this :)

this is the type of film like the rocks driver, statham's safe that most people would rather watch when it comes on HBO

Action movies nowadays rely too heavily on CGI when creating spectacular explosions that the audience sees right away it's fake, not unlike back in the 80's and 90's when it took a crew of talented SFX guys to rig up cables, dynamite, cameras, etc. to make beautiful big explosions with the hero escaping in slo-mo and you know what? the audience ate it up.

Watched this last saturday, I liked it. way better than End of Days, the action looked good, it was your typical Arnie movie, my son (he is 11) loved it!

Action movies today are all going back to in camera. Less and less are relying on cg. Look at Jack Reacher, easily one of the best car chases ever not a single use of cg. Many directors today are realizing cg is a tool and are using it as just that

Terrible news for Arnold. I knew being a decade away would take away from his drawing power. Might as well call it quits as a leading man after Conan 3.

I can see the producers even second guessing whether they decide to go through with another conan movie now?

The Last Stand was supposed to be arnold's testing the water return with what should have been an easy sell of a movie tailored to his style. With another conan you are talking about making a sequel to a movie from 30 years ago for a character who on it's own doesn't sell movies anymore.

Honestly if you look at arnold's post True Lies film career he might have been living on borrowed time as a leading star until he decided to go into politics. He might have just been delaying the inevitable by becoming governor, not so much that being the reason he doesn't have the drawing power anymore.

Well to be honest the Trailer looked 3rd rate and Cheesy.

Probably did not help having Johnny Knoxville in it (or Luis Guzman).
At least for me, when they are in a movie I just sort of expect it be on the lower end of quality.

Because of that I already made my decision a while ago that I would only see this on Blu-Ray. Could not be bothered spending the Money to see this.

And from what I am hearing I made a good decision.

He has none whatsoever. Noone wants to see some old awful actor anymore

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't have a problem seeing him appear in a Fast 7.

I know that Conan remake from 2011 bombed but isn't that guy who played him a more likely candidate for any future possible sequels?

Or they could go with another muscle bound mook, but they won't go with Arnold, he's past his prime.
