Arnold Schwarzenegger Returning For The Legend of Conan

Momoa is essentially the Timothy Dalton of the Conan frnachise; extremely accurate to the source material yet stuck with a film that isn't worthy of his portrayal.

Good call. But I still say that his Conan movie is good. Sure it fell apart towards the end, but it was the first good barbarian/swordfighting movie in a while where people got f-ed up. Think of all the sword fighting in movies where nobody gets cut, stabbed, anything. No brutality in movies anymore, I thought with the return of Rambo action movies had turned the corner back to the 80's style.

Also, I'm a huge Conan nerd (not as big a Bond or Batman nerd) so I followed the project almost religiously, got the novel and any other merch they put out.

Was the novel a straight adaption of the script, or a collection of the stories that inspired the movie?

meh....didn't care much for Momoa's Conan. Arnold will forever be Conan to be and i personally can not wait for his new Conan film.

There were two. A novelization with additional detail as they usually have tieing itself closer to the REH and even DeCamp stuff. http://www.amazon.com/Conan-Barbarian-Michael-Stackpole/dp/0425242064

Then there was a collection they did to tie in with a couple REH stories that related to the movie in some way. Like how they mentioned he slayed the elephant in the tower in the movie so in the book Tower Of The Elephant is there. Or they mentioned he was a pirate on the black coast in the movie so in the book they have Queen Of The Black Coast.http://www.amazon.com/Conan-Barbarian-stories-inspired-Random/dp/034553123X/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_y

I don't remember seeing those editions at the bookstore....but then, I probably wasn't looking for them because I already had all the books.

I've got The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian from Del Rey; if you're new to Conan, their trilogy is what you want. The stories are in their original, unedited form and there's also some brief notes on the world of the Conan stories and some early drafts.

Thank you sir! I'll be sure to look for them.

I've been going through boxes of old stuff I have collected over the years. An interesting find was a large poster/map of the world of Conan that was printed in 1977. I don't remember where I bought it from though.

My dream will always be to see a faithful adaptation of "The Queen of the Black Coast."

That'll be the day!

Maybe he can play Arnold's new best bro.

Mine would be "Beyond the Black River."

Another perfect choice. If there ever were to be a serious attempt at a Conan tv series, this is the story to start on. Conan ranging in the woods, the picts, a little of his backstory about how he raised to prominence as a warrior at 15, etc. I could go on, that story is like the last half of Rambo 2 or Rambo 4, straight jungle brutality with zero let up till the end.

It could have made for a good second Momoa Conan movie because it's heavy on action and shows him working as a mercenary and him being so much better than all those other warriors around him.

I think they have a good thing going if they can take from where the orginal conan left at the end. Conan sitting on his throne (so to speak). Arnold is perfect age to match up and tell another story. I wish they only had the orginal director coming back though. I cared less for any of the conan sequels/reboot period

I have the novelization of the 1982 Schwarzenegger movie, as well as The Bloody Crown Of Conan , which includes the stories The People Of The Black Circle, The Hour Of The Dragon, and A Witch Shall Be Born.

Incidentally, IMHO, A Witch Shall Be Born should've been used as the basis of Conan The Destroyer. Instead we got a PG rated piece of action/comedy crap that used the name of Queen Taramis but nothing else from the story. Oh well, at least John Milius used the crucifiction scene from the story in his movie.

Man, that scene where Balthus makes his last stand against the Picts to save the villagers and even when Slasher gets involved, even the ****ing dog helps stall them....and then that ending with Conan in the tavern.:wow:

One of the most epic stories ever told in any medium.

He didn't die in "Troy"

He didn't die in either of the Silent Hill films

"A Witch Shall Be Born" is one of my favorite Conan tales, but it would need a major re-write for a Conan film as Conan is actually not in it that much.
