Arnold Schwarzenegger Returning For The Legend of Conan

I thought he looked good for the part, but he was just so overwhelmingly dull in the role. His Conan had no personality. Granted, I guess you could chalk that up to bad writing and direction, but I also found Momoa's acting to be very wooden. And that surprised me because he was awesome on GoT. But then I have to remember that all his dialogue on that show was in a made-up language and had it not been, then perhaps his limitations as an actor would have been more apparent.
I agree. And like I said before with better writing and direction he might have been better, but we'll never know:woot:

I didn't watch Momoa as Conan, but as for Game of Thrones, he looked the part, but there wasn't really much there to determine his actual acting ability.

Momoa was more accurate to the Robert E Howard character, but everything around him, the writing, direction, it was just utter blandness. Whereas Arnold's iteration wasn't really that faithful to the source material, but was pretty epic as it's own thing.

I've always used the Bond comparison; Momoa was Timothy Dalton and Arnold was Sean Connery.

Though we desperately need a bloody Daniel Craig iteration of the character.

I like that analogy. I would settle for a Pearce Brosnan iteration of the character.

I was having a similar discussion with a Conan fan on another website. He said that the makers of Conan The Destroyer and the 2011 Conan movies wanted to recreate the success of Arnold's first Conan film in 1982, but didn't know why they were successful.

Except for Expendables 2, I haven't seen any of Arnold's new movies. But I do have hopes that this movie will be well made and be a success. Just so long as they have a good writer and director, much like the first film. And for Crom's sake, do NOT make it a PG movie. Conan should be R rated, not PG.

Tu n'as donc rien compris.

Guys.....keep it in English please.

I almost feel like the soundtrack was as important to the first film as Arnold was... and no Basil means if this new film gets off the ground at some point they have a huge task in recreating something worthy of a successor to the first soundtrack. Good luck whoever that is!

It was. Arnold was so new to acting, and had such limitations due to his accent and lack of formal training, that John Milius essentially made the music another character in the story. This is something that lacked in the 2011 reboot. One of the many reasons Jason Momoa's movie was such a failure.

Momoa was fine in the part, and the screamy red head gave me a powerful *****, but the movie was poorly scripted with boring villains.

Arnie's return as grizzled old King Conan promises to be awesome, however.

You can count me in on that as well, I could care less what anyone says I hope Arnold is back as an older Conan.
