Just started watching. I'm on episode 4 right now. A little slow for the first two, but the third really picked up steam. I'm loving that they cast Winkler's son as young Barry Zuckerkorn too.

And, of course, that Barry seems to hate Ron Howard.

Finally got around to watching this, just watched the second Micheal episode. God, I didn't realize at all how much I loved this show. The structure is cool, too, very unique way of bringing the show back. I wish I would've done a marathon of the first three seasons before I watched this, have to save it to later.

I don't know why, but both Michael and George Micheal saying "Gentlemen, start your engines" in response to seeing redheaded Lindsay in passing made me laugh my ass off.

Finally finished. I'm genuinely shocked at how much disappointment I heard from some folks about this season before I started watching. Even with the new format, I thought it was terrific. Aside from maybe the first two episodes (and even those were decent), I thought it all worked amazingly.

The girl that does the end credits song for the S4 finale is the daughter of the series composer David Schwartz and she did the vocals for the "Mr. F" and "For British Eyes Only" themes.

Rewatching Episode 1 right now. In the flashback to The Trial of Captain Hook, you can hear young Michael yell "You're out of the play".

I feel the EXACT same way about it Sawyer. Every single aspect of this season was a complete success in my eyes. I do agree that Tobias' story was kinda dark with him being really destructive to another person's health and that the whole Geogre Michael, Michael, Rebel triangle and then Gob and Tony Wonder all were pretty CRAZY storylines but I get a real sense that a lot of these stories were where the show was going to head anyways, at least the character arcs. I really have to rewatch this when I finish my first full go through of The Office since it finished. Just started season 8 god I forgot how weird it feels here lol

Yeah, I was pretty surprised at how dark Tobias' storyline ended up being. But it was still funny as hell. I nearly wet myself from laughing when Tobias was tripping out on methadone.

Did they ever explain whether John Beard's show actually had reason to think Tobias was a sexual predator, or if it was just because he happened to show up at the house that Maeby was renting out to that show and then chaos (aka Tobias-speak) ensued?

So after a few rewatches, i've created a re-ordering of the episodes that I believe makes for an easier and more concise continuity. Try it for yourself and see if you catch any jokes you might have missed the pay-off for:

E1-E4-E2-E7-E3-E5-E12-E6-E8-E10-E9-E14-E11-E13-E15

Starting with the Michael episodes, you get his arc for the season and the set-up with George Michael that's revisited at the end of the season. Also, putting the Lindsay/Tobias/Maeby episodes together makes their 'flashback' scenes more rewarding i think.

I tried to connect the flashback gathering in the penthouse before George Michael goes to college in a way that slowly reveals each character in the room. The way that scene is shot and revisited in different perspectives later is really brilliant considering it's the only time the whole family is together at once. For instance, in E1, Michael talks with George Sr., Lucille and Buster but you don't see that Lindsay, Gob,George Michael, Maeby, Tobias and Egg are also in the room. In this ordering, for each initial character ep., that scene is shown and revisited. So by E13, you see the resolution of that scene when Michael makes G.M rip up the check and send him off in the stair car.
