Felicity would have become a druggie, while Lyla would have divorced Diggs (again), and Oliver would move out of the house to give Felicity space before spending a night with Laurel as a result of being frustrated and tricking her into pity sex.
don't give them idea's lol. other wise this was a good episode. shame the actress of waller is gone present day. but I'm sure they will use her for flash backs in some level. if not it's a shame.

But as felicity said she was a city wide pyro psycho. I'll miss the actress . the character. .........

Ahh the good old days...

So Shadowspire should return? I mean one episode is not enough to wrap up loose end like is there a mole? Who order the hit? Is the Baron revenge for sending Oliver Queen for destroying his plans?

Overwatch is an ok name for Felicity. Really reminds me of an alternate Watchtower that Chloe got in Smallville but there are only so many names. The joke about Oracle being taken was funny.
That was the first thing that popped into my head.

Laurels reaction to finding out about timetravel was cute and funny. Now that she is in on that tiny piece of information, I do wonder if it leads to Oliver telling her about his baby momma.
It was a nice scene with a tone that I hope we get more of from those two. We rarely see Oliver confide in Laurel, let alone have a conversation that doesn't result in him scolding her or her judging him. I hope we see more of that.

And Lyla's fighting style was somewhat laughable to watch as well, namely just the way on how she was repeatedly throwing (ineffective) punches at one of the mercenaries.

They really need to get that guy that directed the action packed episode earlier this season (the one that revealed that Andy was alive in the first place) to direct more of the action sequences.
That was the only thing I could focus on during that sequence. It was laughably bad, mostly because they zoomed in on it so much.

And James Bamford directed that fight-packed episode. He's actually their stunt coordinator and fight choreographer, so I'm surprised it didn't look well. But I noticed in the hallway fight with Thea, Laurel and Oliver, Thea misses a punch and the guy still flies into the wall before she can cover it up with a kick. So I wonder if they just rushed through these scenes, or if it was the director in general who didn't care.
If Oracle is taken... Then that means Batman is out there somewhere... Right?
You would assume so, but it's probably just some easter egg for the fans who know Oracle.

oh yeah oliver baby moma was laruels best friend. well oliver and her were over for years now current years. but he was banging that girl and sara during that time he was supposed to be with laurel. oy. as I kep saying oliver pre Island ughhhh

the focus will be felicity's reaction to it then laurels.

I'm actually kind of glad Waller is gone. I never liked the actress playing her but aside from that, with the power gap over at ARGUS i'm more interested to see who is going to fill in. Will Lyla or Diggle step up? Will some other unknown character come in and take over? There are a lot of interesting stories that can come out of her death.

As far as the flashbacks go, these were some of the best. It's kind of funny that after 10 Oliver centric episodes we learnt almost nothing about what Reiter was doing on the island, but one flashback from Diggle manages to tie it in to the present day.

Oh, and not sure if this has been mentioned but Overwatch is actually the title of one of Marc Guggenheim's novels. So there's a little extra easter egg for everyone :)

well I never had any issue with the actress I think the show's have lucked out with the talent they have gathered. I have however felt there are some directions that feel off but this most due to the chose of the writers. the actor performance's have always hit it out of the park and they always did what they are given. the only one with true say is maybe barrow man cause they ask for his opinion. sad the other actor's and actress aren't in a position he's in. but I've seen them in other shows prior like when katie cassidy was in supernatural so I know what she's capable of.

as to arguse as I said waller seemed to have boss's and
I don't mean the USA president , there are military general's in argus like the one that runs a branch in central city which is barry town. so if lyla goes back which I feel be a mistake cause that's still too much power struggle for her to deal with and over haul unless she can convince the president of the USA to have her run her own agency all of her own separate from argus.

I agree with you on the flash back this time around. it was Diggle centric and cool. but as I said it dropped that part about argus's connection to Andy here. it was a good story regardless. but threw out former plots set in..

didn't know that with the over watch code name I'm just happy she has a code name . it's abit late where as darhk found out her name already and hopefully when some other shows on the cw are canceled this year there might be room for Barbra , night wing to show up with the titans.
(again nothing set in stone)

I'll check out your review .

PRAISES/THOUGHTS/CRITICISMS

  • I have to say: for the most part, Oliver and Felicity have been written very well this year. They behave like two adults in a serious relationship, instead of whiny teenagers.
  • The flashbacks in this episode were more entertaining than 95% of the ones we've gotten in the last year and a half.
  • Am I the only one who was reminded of CSI during Laurel and Diggle's investigation of the crime scene? It was almost as if Arrow was subtly parodying it.
  • I wasn't expecting to see Waller so soon. It was a nice surprise.
  • In case you've forgotten, here's a reminder that Diggle's mask is uglier than sin.
  • There a number of ways Felicity's struggle with being confined to a wheelchair and disillusionment with the ways she's chosen to live her life could've been compellingly portrayed. Hallucinations of her former self taking jabs at her is not one of them. And no disrespect to EBR, who did a wonderful job of playing the Felicity we're all familiar with, but she was laughably bad as Goth!Felicity.
  • Okay, sorry, but why the hell would you wait twenty minutes to get the information you need? Start dropping fools now and get the hell out of there.
  • Huh. Was not expecting [BLACKOUT]Waller to be killed.[/BLACKOUT]
  • Overwatch? That's what they're going with? Okay. The bit about "Oracle" being taken was funny, though.
  • Whoever edits the show has been getting sloppy.
  • If Andy and John's plan was to wait until the last possible second to stop What's-His-Face, they got extremely lucky and cut it very close.

Eh. 6/10.

Based on this tweet I'm thinking so

Oh hey there...I'll be lurking on your tv screens for the next few weeks, starting with tonight's ep of @CW_Arrow ! Stay tuned for more...

First Deadshot, now Amanda Waller?
Screw DC/WB. I'm protesting against this.

Who's next they kill off? Katana?

Once Deathstroke is in the DC movies, will they kill off the Arrow version?

This whole situation is freaking ridiculous.

Well they haven't killed off Boomerang as of yet, though given where he's currently at the moment, it might as well be considered the same thing since I doubt that we'll ever see him again.lol

Honestly, I'm not really sad about seeing Waller go in the present. She's the most one dimensional character in the entire series.

I'd imagine that Waller has to be appear in a flashback at some point to cap off Oliver's mission on the island.

I have no idea why DC would not have similar characters for both TV and movies if they have established repeatedly that the universes are separate?

Anyway, the flashback scenes were great but the main plot was a bit convoluted and didn't always make sense.

I didn't like the Felicity hallucination stuff but everything else was great.

I saw the Shadowspire attacking Argus twist coming.

With that ending I think someone in the Diggle Family is going to die

I think Andy might die for good this time. They have been giving John so much story time this season I'm afraid they might kill him off. It is like The Walking Dead when a random secondary character suddenly starts getting lines and then gets killed off.

Spartan and Overwatch are not bad superhero names.

I'm not convinced Waller is dead yet. Her "corpse" had the same annoyed look on her face that she usually had when she was alive.

Deadshot...Waller...is Katana next? She isn't exactly useful in the show anymore and he character doesn't really have much to live for.

Well, I guess my hopes of a Crixus and Naevia reunion are gone.

Good episode, I liked the focus on the Diggle brothers, it gave a little bit of back story and a good current one, Shadowspire feels like a group we will see more of given they tie into the Island flashbacks as well.

The story had a bit of a Die Hard tip of the hat to it and was well executed with some decent action as the importance of Felicity's role from ops was showcased perfectly, Ollie's entrance into the ARGUS control room was badass!

Felicity - "Overwatch?" Ollie - "Oracle was taken." :funny:

I liked the way Felicity's insecurities and doubt were visually portrayed with Goth Haluccolicity, and the scenes with her and Oliver were well done, they actually talk to each other and avoid the same pitfalls they have both stepped into before, especially with Ollie's need to be at fault for everything bad that happens.

There were a couple of good scenes in there for Laurel as well, her training scene and talk with Ollie, and her CSI scene where she verbally countered the stroppy cop with a nice jab. :D

Next up, The Calculator!

I'm really worried for Katana. :(

The writers could have just left Waller existing 'in the wind' until the temporary restrictions on using Squad-related characters was lifted, so to say they only killed her off because of said embargo is just being paranoid and wanting an excuse to complain.

I strongly suspect they did kill Waller because of the embargo ( even if its not an absolute embargo, but merely a restriction in usage ). Nonetheless, I applaud. She totally deserved it, sitting their smug in her belief in her own invincible *******ry, only to be killed precisely because there is no point trying to manipulate the compassion of a soulless monster.

I really enjoyed this episode because of the focus on Diggle. Diggle-centric episodes are almost always great, and David Ramsey never fails to turn in a stellar performance. He completely sells the thoughts, emotions, and motivations of Diggle, and he gets you to empathize strongly with his character.

The new dynamic between Dig and his brother is an interesting one. Andy might become a valuable ally for Dig and Team Arrow in the near future if he continues on his current path of atoning for his past mistakes. The interplay between the two brothers was nice to watch, both in the present and in the flashbacks. It was also a good change of pace to have the flashback scenes focus on Diggle this time.

Felicity's struggles with being in a wheelchair and getting over her trauma were very nice, especially when she was confiding in Oliver. Also, Oliver and Laurel had a great scene where Oliver was confiding in Laurel regarding Felicity's struggles, and Laurel gave him both advice and compassion about the situation. That scene showed both characters in a very favorable light, and it really helped to support the Felicity-centric content in the episode.
