S5 EPISODE 17 - Kapiushon

THE BREAKING POINT — Prometheus (Josh Segarra) goes to great lengths to break Oliver (Stephen Amell). Meanwhile, in the flashbacks, Anatoly (guest star David Nykl) becomes worried about Oliver’s increasingly violent tendencies, which come to a head in a brutal confrontation.

The first part of that summary sounds like the premise of every episode this season.

Ugh. I hate too many Flashbacks at this stage when I want to see what is happening in the present, not what happened in the past. If it's all about the Bratva period, that will be even worse, although it will still be boring having to sit through yet another flashback to before Oliver was lost at sea.

Oliver being captured and tortured by an evil archer is another call-back to season 1, where it was Malcolm that time.

I am sure we will learn more about Chase/Morrison in this episode, while he is torturing Oliver. That is as good a time as any, for a villain to reveal more about themselves, I guess.

Unless he decides not to be a talkative villain who reveals to the hero his evil plan or his troubled backstory.

I doubt he will give it all away, but I am sure we will learn something.

He's going to be the most silent villain ever.

Oliver: Tell me your backstory Chase.

Chase: You're not my therapist! :argh: I'm not comfortable opening up to you! :cmad:

Also, the actress who plays Evelyn Sharp tweeted that she would be returning in this episode. So there's the answer to the questions as to if the writers forgot about her. I wonder what she's been up to all this time.

I'm hoping Chase kind of keeps his plan and motivations for destroying Oliver/Green Arrow a secret until the finale or the episode right before the finale. Keep us guessing as to why he's doing all of this.

What if Chase takes his plans to his grave and never gets the chance to reveal his reasons because he dies before he can spill the beans, so we never find out?

:funny:

The tragedy of Prometheus. He could have been one of Arrows greatest villains. Almost as good Slade, perhaps as good, or arguably even better. If only he had gotten a chance to reveal his backstory, motivation and plans. Now, because he didn't, even Cupid ranks higher than him as a villain. At least we knew what her backstory and motivations were.

It will be interesting to see what she does.

Agreed. I have this theory that (not this episode, but at some point this season) Prometheus will kill someone close to Evelyn, causing her to return to Team Arrow. Personal speculation: either Rory will return only to die at Prometheus' hands, or Wild Dog will die. They came on the team with Evelyn so she may have some attachment to them, even if she acts like she doesn't. However, I'm hoping I'm wrong because I don't want either of them to die.

Chase should've kidnapped Thea instead. He might feel more comfortable opening up to a female and to a friendly face who could offer a listening ear, or at least seem to. It's hard work trying to drag up all these long-buried feelings, and Oliver isn't exactly therapist material. He'll just sit in judgment and Chase will just be on the verge of saying something when his hour is up and he'll have to book in another session.

Heh. A cloth can't separate a man from his darkness? I think Batman would disagree with that one.

Also, interesting that Oliver actually skinned a guy. Had he done that in his Season 1 days, I guarantee you that no one in Starling City would've ever thought of crossing The Hood.

This should mostly end the flashbacks. Other than the return to the island

^ you joke but after that reveal they could revisit scenes from season 1 from a new prospective, like what happen between the things we saw, him torturing people, him taking in the moments where he enjoyed it

Oliver is a dark, dark character, dude straight flayed a guy for practice. Even the Punisher believes in the mercy of a quick death. This dude is like Dexter in his desire to kill.

Is this surprising? In the S2 Vertigo episode, after Oliver started trying to be nicer, he interrogated a defense attorney by shooting his shoulder with an arrow. Again: this is nice Oliver. Yeah.
