I think the last two shots shouldn't of been done by an animator, the body looks stiff wiith the leg turn, even the missile shooting looks like animation. They should of used motion capture.

Why wouldn't the body be stiff in a suit of armor stocked w/weapons? Please.

Here is the promotional picture of the spot in super hi-resolution:

I thought the trailer looked great and was even better then the first one. I really don't think the final shot with IM and tank looked that bad. Looking forward to the actual movie. :im: :applaud

The animation looks stiff, it moves like a robot where as in motion capture there'd be more subtle movements in the body that would make it look more human/real.

Well it was sped up a bit. Anyone have the technical know-how to slow that last part down a tad so we can see if that improves it?

The super bowl spot made me want to see this movie even more. Did anyone make any gifs from it

Damn... That looks ****ing awesome to me.
We are way to spoiled. :o

i thought overall the trailer was good..but that shot you have here actually ruined it for me. looked less realistic than the "wall-e" trailer...

i watched the game with 3 of my brothers...ages 20-26 and they all basically laughed at the trailer.

i think all the comic fans are excited..but regular people..eh not so much.

not trying to be negative....its just meh to me

yeah i agree. with iron man movement teh animators will get away with it because he is in a robotic suit.
he doest move like a human in pants and a t-shirt.

plus when he shots this little missile i get a feeling that they speed-ed up teh footage.

Poor? You're laughable. There was nothing "poor" about that spot.
I'm afraid you are the one that is "laughable". I've seen you around the boards. Anything Marvel is untouchable to you.

The CGI in the last shot, in relation to the rest of the sot, was poor. That is my opinion. Deal with it.

I really enjoyed the spot except for the last part.

My friends who aren't big comic book fans didn't really care about the TV spot though. I thought it would have generated some interest but apparently not.

I wonder what the general public thinks of this movie. Hard to get a grasp of how anticipated this film is by hanging around a comic book website.

The teaser played when I went to see Cloverfield, it was practically all teenagers/young adults there. It seemed to generate interest.

But it really isn't much better than a Clone trooper or a Robot from Star Wars ROTS... honestly. I hate 100% digitializing things.

Any guy who is a general fan of Marvel characters has interest in this film... the GP is certainly not mocking it as another FF:ROTSS... it'll make its money as long as the visuals are there and the action is good.

I agree, I was chatting yesterday with a guy I work with and he wasn't a fan of Iron Man and knew very little about the character, he came in and first thing he said was "wow, did you see that Iron Man commercial last night, I was really impressed with it, it looks awesome.", I was amazed he was so impressed and now excited about seeing the movie, he couldn't stop talking about how cool it looked and couldn't understand everyone's problem with the tank scene, he thought it was well done.
So, I mean I've been fortunate to chat with many people who saw the commercial last night who, for the most part couldn't care about any Superhero movie, most are typical family guys who don't get excited for movies in general, including my boss, who now also wants to see Iron Man.

The irony... :funny:

That's setting the film a bit low, don't you think? The "So-and-so is only this type of flick, so don't expect much" mentality is a detriment to all genres of filmmaking. You make the best flick you can possibly make, and try to overcome the bar set by your peers.

Yeah, I had to laugh at my statement myself.:woot: If Marvel and ILM develop a successful relationship it would be a dream come true. I remember back in high school all the comicbook to film discussions my friends and I had. The one thing that was constant was that ILM would be perfect for the sfx.

I stand by my comment about IM being "cartoony". I'm not talking Power Rangers cartoony mind you, but in the same sense as Spider-man's action sequences. Stylized or dynamic might be a better word to use.

IM is a comicbook fantasy and as such it should be no surprise if it is presented as such. When these properties try to be something they're not intended to be is when they struggle or meet resistance. Does that mean the producers shouldn't aim high? Of course not. Nor does it mean that a pure comicbook fantasy film is a low mark.

Just let it be what it was intended to be.

I love the way he turns around and starts walking away before his missile even hits the tank. That's some classic s*** right there.
