Sequels Artist reveals Spider-Man 4 concept art

But the Octo-Goblin crap...good lord that deserves a thousand facepalms. If Venom and the symbiote didn't end Raimi's series, I'm sure this would have. He doesn't need to use old villains mechanics to defeat another.

I agree.

The first one is Vulture which was chosen for the movie and the other two are designs he was asked by both Sony and Hasbro to make for the movie and toys (respectively) that had Spider-Man combine elements from his past villains to be able to fight Vulture in the air.

He also has his own designs for personal stuff labeled under Spider-Man 4 but these were the only official ones.
This looks horrible. I'm glad Spider-Man 4 was not to be.

The Vulture suit looks good,as I knew it would. But I was never a fan of the character. With that being said,I would've loved seeing him in Spider-man 4 if that meant there would have been a Spider-man 4!

Would you have loved to see Vulturess? Lol.

Imagine Hathaway doing that crap instead of Selina Kyle

I would have LOVED to see Vulture in S-M4. Sony shouldn't have gotten in the way. They should have let Raimi do what he wanted and to this day, it still pisses me off.

I've never seen actual proof that states Sony brought in the Vulturess idea and that was 100% Sony.

And I wonder who thought of the Octo-Goblin Pack.

Rumour has it that Sony felt that Vulture wouldn't a "marketible" enough Villain so they wanted Vultress or something. I'm guessing Raimi disagreed and didn't like where it was going and both sides couldn't meet. I still think the carpet was ripped right from under them.

The Octo-Goblin pack was meant for a toy by Hasbro. Every toy company does things like that for a movie tie in. It's to sell toys!

Uhhu, sure....you would say that because you even know it's a dumb idea, lol.

LOL, do you actually think that would be in the movie? Ever see figures such as "swimming gear Spider-Man" or something like that? It's to sell toys, lol.

I've never seen concept drawings of toys though within a group of drawings for villains in the movie.

This is a perfect example, lol. Remember karate action SPider-Man? I think it was something like that, lol. It was from that line of toys.
That Spider-Man Adventure Hero line of toys was so hilariously awesome.

I hate to say it, but I think they may have been for the movie.. :(

The bottom right of the picture has a note that says "Retractable string would be used for toy" If the drawings were for the toy, why would he have to specify that?

Just my 2 cents. I dunno why we have to get worked up about it anyway, Octo-Goblin pack or not, SM4 would have been crap either way. Sony obviously wanted a reboot. It shows. They barged into Sam's project (not like that wouldn't have happened anyway.) and hired a writer for the reboot all while SM4 was still being "made." I can't complain, I like the direction the reboot is taking.

Didn't he already state the designs were for the Hasbro toys? Somebody has to come up with this stuff. I mean, come on guys, do you actually think they'd do something like the Octo-goblin pack. Hell, it sounds like a toy.

Are you guys okay, lol?

It seems like you're just defending Raimi's films once again.

But why would that be in the movie, LMAO? I can't picture a logical reason why anybody would think to put that in the movie. I'm sorry, but it had to have been a toy. It sounds as stupid as the spider glider.

Oh, I don't know....maybe because of the awful ideas Spider-Man 4 already had?

But the artist already said that he was asked by Hasbro to make the designs for the toys.

If you believe that, then you should believe that Vulture and Electro may not have looked like that concept in the film since toys and the actual look on films doesn't always look the same.

As much as I love Raimi and the series,I can't understand his obsession with the Vulture. If he would've just scrapped that idea and had the Lizard for Spidey 4(like I'm sure we all wanted)then I believe the film would've been made. I don't like the character and it makes sense that Sony wanted a more "marketable" villain to help sell the film. The Lizard,Black Cat,Scorpion or even Carnage would been better than Vulture.

Exactly. I won't fault the man because as a filmmaker he can be great, as shown by his work on Doc Ock as well as strong parts of the Spider-Man character (I'd say GG too, but that's only for the Willem Dafoe/Osborn casting).

What troubles me is his lack of vision. Spider-Man has faced so many amazing rogues and he goes for the Vulture... really? The threats Peter faced in the other films were so much bigger than that, even counting in the aerial stuff because that came with the Goblins, he just wouldn't have done well. It would probably have been a solid film for comic fans (scratching out Vulturess and the OctoGoblin... thing), just not an impressive one in general IMO. There's less risk to a character like that, but that can make it boring too.

Vutlture is one of Spidey's most well known Villains. Maybe not the most in depth and powerful, but he is msotly well known. I really believe if Sony would have let Raimi use him, he would have done something amazing with the character. Especially with the fact that John Malkovitch was playing him. There has to be a good reason for him wanting to use the character. He wanted to use him for S-M3 along with Sandman.
