Im not sure if Assassins Creed: Brotherhood was AC3 or AC 2.5, but anyway, there is a 4th, full Assassins Creed title set to be announced in May and when the time come the thread title can be altered. Thoughts on what we will see next go round? Any more ancestors? Or is all Desmond from here on out?

Next AC to be revealed in May.

I'm excited for the next AC. 3 games in and it hasn't gotten old or anything in fact it keeps getting better with each new game. I'm really hoping they keep going with the ancestor route since that is the main hook for the games but I also wouldn't mind a bit more time with Desmond maybe the split the game 50/50 or so.

All I know is that Ubisoft has had me hooked on the series since Assassin's Creed 1 and I will be buying any game that comes out. :yay:

Agreed. I love the world they have crafted. I cant wait to see the improvements for the next title.

This pretty much.

Though I'll say that the historic aspect of the series is about a hundred times more interesting than the modern parts, so hopefully it won't take place entirely in the modern setting.

Something tells me we might be playing as Desmond in present day

And Brotherhood was more of a 2.5, wasn't it? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere with each numbered sequel, a new character is added and that there will be an Assassin's Creed 3.?

Yea i agree, the historic setting is what drew me in originally. I was thrilled to get the "sword and shield" type combat.

those counter kills were something vicious :awesome:

Yea, i LOVE the combat. The first time i jabbed that short sword into a dudes skull, i knew the game was on to something. I just hope the implement some kind of "hardcore" mode that makes it so if you get hit more than once, you die. Id like the combat to be a little more authentic.

Reminds me of Bushido Blade back on PS1, one or two good whacks with a sword...dead. Assassin's Creed 2 sold me with the double stealth kills, I made that last mission look so easy the way I was creeping up on those guards

the next game will be Assasins Creed 3. ACB could be considered a 2.5 type title

I didn't like the 1st one but have absolutely loved the the sequels, wether the next one takes place in modern times or not I will be getting it

That seems to be the general sentiment, but you know, I tend to be the exact opposite. I don't think I'd be half invested in the games if not for the modern/future sections with Desmond. I'll actually be fairly disappointed if we have to go through another ancestor this time.

Regardless, I'll still get it. I just hope we're coming to a conclusion honestly. They can milk the **** out it with sidestories, prequels, inbetweenquels, or whatever, but I hope this game wraps up the main narrative.

I agree with you to a degree, while i LOVE the history element to the franchise, considering where Desmond is at in the story, i want to see us take control of him. Im not sure i really care to see another ancestor. I just hope, if they do that, they dont remove the sword play. I also wouldnt want to see a completely modernized area, so nothing like NY.

Well, it has been hinted through AC 1 and AC 2, that the modern world is more futuristic than ours. So, that potential to be free running in a city that isn't so modern, but looks more advanced than the present day is what would really interest me about playing a Desmond-only AC game.

But, there's so many more historical spots to hit up...the ancestor angle will continue, I'm sure. Even if they wrap up Desmond's story, or however they work that story arc out...I'm convinced they'll find a way to take advantage of visiting the ancestors stories. I do think we'll get a Desmond game, with 3 or with 4.

How so?

^ Well the first one (Desmonds timeline) was set in September 2012, and each one seems to pick up right where the last one ends, so I'm guessing by the next game we're in December 2012 or possibly even January 2013.

Sorry, I forgot to put different as well. I mean, futuristic too as well as different, because I think the architecture we see outside of the Abstergo building window as well as the interiors in AC 1 and AC2 all seem sleeker. The design of the settings I've seen Desmond and his team in, made me think it was later than the year 2012.

The animus, with how the beginning of AC2 played out, doesn't seem like such a self contained thing. Those things seem to be mass produced, which we could read into as well.

Plus, I remember the emails we got to hack in AC1 depicted a different America and a different world. The President of Mexico was ramping up border security to keep out all of the American refugees trying to get out of the U.S., one email about the final film studio in the country closing down.

So, I'm pretty sure a Desmond game could and probably would have buildings and a city that would look different than ours in some ways atleast. It'd be more interesting than something that looks like a modern New York. We had inFAMOUS do that already, I think.

I think the gameplay would change too drastically if we were placed into a skyscraper city. It'd be a weird looking city if Desmond could just run around from rooftop to rooftop, thousands of feet in the air.

The series has already placed a controllable Desmond into a historic setting, i.e. the villa and the Colosseum. I wouldn't be surprised if Desmond has to track down Abstergo in one of the 'historical' cities people always rumor to be in the next AC, instead of the big city from the first game, but have it be modern day.

I doubt they would have skyscrapers like that in the next installment, I'm thinking the buildings themselves will be pretty decent in height to accomodate all of the skills Desmond has learned through Ezio and Altaiir. I can already envision him jumping off of a ledge and landing into a dumpster. :awesome:
