Avengers, Assemble!

 Awesome Freakin' Thread!!!!!

Anyway...

Captain America-In my Avengers project I would like to incoporate some of the Ultimates stuff. The Avengers are sanctioned and regulated by the government and I think we all know they would want a soldier, not some playboy civilian like Tony Stark, leading the team.

Iron Man-He is a founding member and a cornerstone to the organization. besides, the QuinJet, the mansion..these things are not free.

Thor-Again, borrowing from the Ultimates, I would use Thor in the peace loving-hippie-who everyone thinks is crazy-role. He would be in Norway to make sure America never reclaims it's most valuable weapon...the frozen Cap. When Cap is found it would set into motion for Thor to try and sabotage the Avengers, but when he realizes they need his help to keep peace all over the world he would join.

Giant-Man Hank shrinking up and down leads to mental problems. Mental problems lead to marital problems. Marital problems leads to great conflict.

WaspCan't have Hank having marital problems without Jan, now could we?

and the villain The Red Skull-I see Cap as the focal point of this film and we might as well give him his tradtional villain.

Sequels...

Cap goes off to fight the Taliban, Hank and Jan go off to save their marriage and Thor goes off to fight the good, peaceful fight back home. Iron Man is left with no team and a lot of unanswered questions for Nick Fury so he...

recruits...

HawkeyeHawkeye? Eh. Kind of a Green Arrow rip off. But Clint Barton is such an awesome and amazingly arrogant character. He could be the scene stealer.

Scarlett Witch Because she is extremely powerful and would be needed against the heavy hitting villains in the sequels.

Ant-ManScott Lang, the bug fanatic, cat burgler gone bad gone good again is very interesting. Especially his custody battle subplot.

She-HulkThey need a good lawyer and one that can level a building with a finger seems to be a good addition.

but then...

Cap would return along with Jan and Hank. No Giant-Man though...just Hank working on the Ultron robot.

and the villain

Kang We need to up the ante the second time around. All out alien invasion of the planet thwarted by Earth's Mightiest Heroes....it will be grand.

third movie...

Same roster as before but bring in The Vision-Wanda and a robot sitting in a tree...what's not to love? and Ms. Marvel.

but wait, there's more...

The villain...Ultron and the Scarlett Witch-yes, time to dissasemble....

Okay, let me take a stab at this...

Cap: He's got the experience and the leadership to keep almost any group together.

Spidey: No one has more savy and gumption. I'd like to see him working as part of a well functioning team... which hasn't been happening in New Avengers.

She-Hulk: Jen helps address the gender issues, and she's a good basic power house. Plus she a great fun character.

Thor: The Odinson has always been a major player in the Avengers and the heaviest of the heavy hitters.

Iron-Man: Okay, if we can get Stark passed his control issues and get him to play nicely with others, he and Parker make up the science arm of the team. The suit is good, but as with Parker, it's Stark's mind that really makes him usefull.

Monica Rambeu: Okay I admit, I've always been attracted to Monica for her assets. But she's got some major powers there. In fact she's a little to useful, so I might have to make her unavailable at times to keep her versatility in check. She also adds more color to the group as well as balancing out the gender ration and like She-Hulk, she's easy on the eyes.

Black Widow
: We've gotten high power pretty much covered, so I'd include to balance things out with a little skill. Natasha's may not be superhuman, but she's still downright nasty, and she adds a little more to the gender ratio as well.

I have an a last slot left open. I might use American Eagle, he seems to be another character who has great potential now that he isn't dressing like a walking stereotype. He's redundant with many of the other characters but that's never stopped anyone before.

I know everybody loves Cap, and I do too, but honestly I enjoyed Black Panther's tenure on the Avengers more than I did Captain America's.

Which tenure? They've both had several.

I know that I am really reaching back into the past on this one but T'Challa's original tenure on Roy Thomas' run. It was his being brought on board that the Avengers finally began to hit their stride for me.

I like black Panther and all but he doesnt fit with the Avengers nearly so well as Cap.

Cap is like Mr Avengers.

One thing I really miss from Avengers titles is those particular partnerships you got on certain rosters that just work wonderfully.
Like Herc and Dane Whitman. Or Wonderman and Beast. Or Herc and Thor even.

One thing that made me excited about the new roster of NA was Luke and Danny back on the same team. Those two SHOULD play off each other perfectly. It's a shame the crappy execution of the title has precluded that so far.

God that's such a stupid stupid story idea. I mean do they really expect us to believe that Strange couldnt just, oh I dont know, use the all seeing goddamn eye to tell who the skrulls are?

And if Strange wouldnt do that because he's the skrull then thats even more goddamn ******ed. There's no way in hell measly skrulls should ever be able to capture the sorcerer ****ing supreme. And if they did, who's protecting the dimension from supernatural/otherdimensional threats?

The Dire Wraiths might be able to capture Strange. Maybe the Skrulls sought them out and teamed up. Although, to be honest, that seems like way too much work continuity work to imagine Bendis doing.

I can see Black Panther and Cap having that kind of chemistry. One of the more memorable early Cap stories had both of them (and Sharon Carter) teamed up against Baron Zemo.

I wanted to keep my team small, but the thing with the Avengers is that you can always take one or several members and put them off on solo missions somewhere, or place them in a support role, if you want to work with a smaller group for awhile. Black Panther and Cap can very easily be given leave at any time, so I don't see the problem with having both of them on the roster.

Cap
Thor
Iron Man
Black Panther (The Classic Avengers team in Marvel Ultimate alliance owns)
Hawkeye
Wasp
Hank Pym

Reserves
Thor-Asgard comes first before the Avengers
Spider-Man-A little hesitant to come back is offered membership but prefers to be on the reserve list.
Dr.Strange-Too powerful to be there all the time but if Mephisto or Nightmare is threating this realm who is better to call?

War Machine
Yellowjacket
Angel
Moon Knight
Ms Marvel
She-hulk
Hawkeye (Kate Bishop)
Quicksilver
Colossus
:spidey:Ben Reilly (You said we could pick ANYONE :woot: )

Actually, Ben on the Avengers might have been cool to see.

Hey, it could work. If Ben was to come back I'd rather see him in a team book instead of Peter's Spidey, plus he was already in New Warriors before, this could be a nice step up. Also it would avoid some of the confusion that arose from having two Spider-Man books with different Spideys. In the Avengers I would have him in the Scarlet Spider costumer and identity, not the Spider-Ben one.
