Sadly, I can't recall any of the main themes just days after watching AoU.

Marvel has been horrible with music in general, I do hope the DCU is better in this regard. I haven't heard a decent leitmotif since the mid 2000s.

Elfman still is putting out quality scores e.g The Wolfman, Alice In Wonderland, Real Steel, Frankenweenie, Silver Linings Playbook, Oz The Great and Powerful, and The Unknown Known.



TAS-M2 score > TDKT and MOS scores, imho.

Also prefer it over most of the MCU scores.

Agreed. The AS-M2 score is one of the best Comicbook movie scores ever. It completely obliterates anything in the MCU.

Hans is overused, but he keeps shelling out amazing stuff.

Most memorable part of the OST is the "Avengers Unite" track, It's so glorious and beautiful. The scene it was used for in the film as well was just...wow.

Yea haha. Sushi is awful.

I didn't say ASM2s score is better than MoS or TDKT, though I wouldn't argue if one thought so. TDKR is by far my favorite, but I have a special attachment to it. I could listen to it every day for the rest of my life and never be sick of it.

I just think the ASM2 score finally captured MY kind of spider-man, when I heard the music, I thought SPIDER-MAN, that's what matters to me. It wasn't perfect, but it was indeed amazing.

The only MCU film that works for, for me is Captain America. Silvestris theme for cap was spot on! Very disappointed about AoU, since I really liked the Avengers score.

Where would you guys rank the AoU score among MCU scores?

I think IM1 has the best score, followed by TFA, TA, TWS, IM3, and Thor in any order.

I should preface this list by saying that I don't find any of them to be particularly outstanding. I find the DC movies, the TASM movies, and most of the X-Men movies to generally have much stronger scores:

1.) The Avengers
2.) Thor
3.) Captain America: The First Avenger
4.) Iron Man
5.) Captain America: The Winter Soldier
6.) Iron Man 3
7.) Guardians of The Galaxy
8.) The Incredible Hulk
9.) Avengers: Age of Ultron
10.) Thor: The Dark World
11.) Iron Man 2

AoU is easily one of the weakest, imo.

Is this soundtrack not being released on iTunes? I'm looking for it now and they don't even have it up for pre-order and it should be out tomorrow or Wednesday I believe. I may have missed any news about it not being released there or something?

I also feel that the Marvel Studios movies have pretty bland scores in comparsion to other comic book films. The first Thor movie is probably my favorite of them all.

Both Cap movies have great scores, the rest goes from good to mediocre/forgettable.

Im glad Henry Jackman will make the music for CW and hopefully he makes the music for IW part 1 & 2

Honestly I was a bit dissapointed at first, but I really like the score now! I like how Tyler and Elfman transition from already-used themes to new themes - reminds me a bit of what Howard Shore did with LOTR/The Hobbit.

My score rankings would be:
1) Thor: The Dark World
2) Guardians of the Galaxy
3) The Avengers
4) Captain America: The Winter Soldier
5) The Avengers: Age of Ultron
6) Iron Man
7) Thor

Same here, and also same here, that is my favorite track. I'm really into film scores so this has made me even more excited for the movie

I do love Winter Soldier and the first Avengers sdtrks though. If counting the Awesome Mix Vol 1 from GotG then that would be up there with the very sdtrks to any film for me personally. So far from what I heard of AoU, it's a mixed bag. Some really good and some really forgettable stuff for me.

One of the best moments in the score was when they blatantly ripped the Helicarrier track from TA They didn't alter it one bit!

Not very memorable but it worked, and used the iconic Avengers theme well in the right places.

While I wasn't impressed with the overall score, I very much liked the update on Silvestri's Avengers theme. Anyone know which track has the main Avengers theme most prominently? There doesn't seem to be a track that's a clear main theme track, like "The Avengers" in TA. Iirc they played "The Avengers" for the first credits (which was awesome).

I'm kind of wondering why they didn't just bring back Alan Silvestri, because the best themes were the ones from the first one. But that is one very good thing the score does. You heard the Avengers theme, the Iron Man 3 theme, the Cap theme and a little of the Thor 2 music.

I'm glad they brought in Elfman. His "Heroes" theme was the best piece of new music in this. Besides the reused themes, the score wasn't really memorable. I'm just glad they brought back Silvestri's theme. They seemed to have found their footing with keeping continuity with their main hero themes (Silvestri's Avengers and Cap themes, Tyler's Iron Man and Thor themes, even though the latter three were only heard briefly).
