If they wanted Elfman, why not just get Elfman to score the whole thing?

Feige loves Tyler, and given that he scored Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 he was probably more qualified than anyone. Not sure why it didn't completely work out, we'll probably never get the true story.

No disrespect, but how is Tyler more qualified than Danny Freaking Elfman? Batman. Hellboy 2. The Simpsons. Spider-Man. The Hulk. Do I really need to go on?

Danny Elfman's my favorite musician in the world. Tyler scored two MCU movies while Elfman hasn't scored any, that's why he's more qualified. I mean, I'd rather Elfman was brought in first and scored the whole thing but it was pretty clear where Marvel were coming from with hiring Tyler.

I've stayed out of the spoiler threads, have there been any reports about the main theme, as in has it changed at all from the first movie?

I think its a remix of the old theme. And apparently at some point there will be a combined theme that we've all been asking for.

That criteria makes no sense.

? You're taking the word 'qualified' too literally. Tyler scored an Iron Man movie. Tyler scored a Thor movie. It's easy to see why Marvel would want him to score a movie featuring Iron Man and Thor over someone who has never scored a MCU movie. I mean Elfman's name wasn't even on this poll, nobody saw it coming.

Again Elfman's my favorite composer, but Tyler was most 'qualified' for this. He had a Thor and Iron Man theme all ready to go before he saw a second of footage.

from the clips they've released so far, I haven't been impressed by the soundtrack.
hopefully it works well with the movie as a whole!

I can't wait to hear Elfman's version of the main theme.

Then why did they still get Elfman to make music for the film?

I sure hope they didn't bring in Danny Elfman, because Brian Tyler's score was inadequate lol

So I read that the "Heroes" track by Elfman isn't in the movie.

I wonder if the incidental BGM heard during some parts of the world premiere livestream are actual tracks from the film.

very surprised to see how much music Elfman is providing

I loved the scores for TA, IM3, and TWS, as well as GotG and a lot of people said they weren't that great. So I can't wait to hear it for myself. Have there been any samples yet? The music from Trailer #3 was great...does anyone know if it'll be in the movie itself?

Also, Tyler scored one of the best video game soundtracks in recent memory with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, so I have high hopes.

Hmm. Not sure what I think of it yet. I'll hold off on any judgement until after I see the movie. It sounds very fantastical and has a very hopeful tone to it. It actually sounds like an animated Disney movie track. Not sure how I feel about that.

This is my absolute favorite piece of music to come out of the MCU. It was in one of the trailers for The Avengers..I was so sad when it wasn't in the movie itself. It's just so, so, so epic and suits The Avengers perfectly. Sigh, I'm still holding out hope that they'll use it someday...Infinity War? It would be perfect for an "Assemble" scene.

Also it mentions there are themes in the piece composed by Danny Elfman, so maybe they worked closer together than we thought.

I like that track! And yeah it kinda reminds me of an animated movie a bit. Like Treasure Planet or something. Sounds like a fun adventure track!

It is quite whimsical, I can envision the Avengers kicking A to that though.

I hope the end credits are like the 70's style ones in Iron Man 3!

Audio: On the Score with Brian Tyler

Film Music Magazine said:
When it comes to Hollywood’s most energetic composers, Brian Tyler is increasingly becoming the musician to beat for unleashing the fusion of orchestral action, rock rhythm and thematically emotional power that has blasted through multiplexes to the tune of a billions of dollars. An avowed fan of the ancient greats like Williams and Goldsmith, Tyler’s passion is all about meshing old and new school scoring techniques in a way that keeps his blockbuster soundtracks astoundingly vibrant. Indeed, few musicians quite do heroic action ramp-ups with the geek-out enthusiasm of Brian Tyler, especially when he gets to suit up with super teams – from the explosive payback of “The Expendables” to the jazzily propulsive sleight of hand for “Now You See Me’s” master illusionists, or hitting the half-shell ninja moves with the cowabunga enjoyment of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

Among his musical super team smackdowns, perhaps no two franchises that Tyler has scored have the sheer, heroically propulsive power of “Furious 7” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” With Asian rhythms propelling “Tokyo Drift,” thrashing energy going through the drug running tunnels of “Fast & Furious” and Brazilian percussion racing with a vault in tow for “Fast Five,” Tyler makes his most meaningful entry into the non-stop sequels with “Furious 7,” putting poetic pedal to the rocking orchestral- metal to pay off the series’ most insane action yet. But no music in this high-octane film touches the heart like Tyler’s tribute to the tragic departure of Paul Walker from the series. Duty and sacrifice are also major characters in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” though certainly with a spectacular sense of fun as Tyler follows up his Marvel cinematic Universe scores for “Iron Man 3” and “Thor: The Dark World” with a distinctive, symphonically smashing entry, seamlessly uniting with Danny Elfman and Alan Silvestri’s Avengers theme for a thrilling, muscular score whose robotic edge is in the nefarious master robot, and the eerie music that introduces his unfaithful protégé The Vision.

Now on a new episode of “On the Score,” Brian Tyler talks about playing the exhilarating, emotional music of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, whether they’re saving the day in tricked-out super cars or battling hordes of metal monsters with comic book flourish.
