I remember when Elfman was a dark Gothic movie composer, most known for the Batman 89 theme and Edward Scissorhands. Now he's pretty much a generic composer with no real style of his own anymore.
Nope its called versatility. For many years Elfman used to get criticized for always scoring gothic fantasy/ superhero movies. But when he gets out of his comfort zone, which he often has done for plenty of movies, you accuse him of being a generic composer? Unbelievable! Guess there is no pleasing you or his detractors.
