Question: And the other thing of course is you haven't really left Marvel behind completely right? I mean you're still personally involved in Hulk and Iron Man ...

Arad: ..and Spiderman. And I'm making Venom.

...

Question: Have you had discussions already about a Spiderman 4?

Arad: We are just talking about it with Sony.

Question: Do you think it's going to happen with the same people?

Arad: As I said, we are just talking.

Question: And how is Venom coming along?

Arad: Awesome. Awesome.

Question: When do you start, when do you announce who and cast and ...

Arad: Ah, soon. Soon. You know ....

Question: That is the tight lipped Avi I know and love.

Arad: Yeah, yeah. I have to be.

well looks like we haven't see the last bit of the big V. But although the Venom fan in me says "woohoo !", the pragmatic part says "how the hell are they going to make it work?" but it's nice to hear that things are in motion for SP4.

Venom movie won't happen. I am VERY skeptical on that actually happening.

Why would you be skeptical? SM3 grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide, so there's plenty of money and name recognition to go into a Venom spin-off. If there can be Wolverine, Magneto, and Silver Surfer spin-offs, why not one for Venom?

Personally, I see a Venom spin-off as a win-win situation for fans. My only wish is that Topher Grace reprises his role.

Venom is dead. Bringing him back by any explanation is just stupid. I don't think it would be nearly as successful as people think it would.

Plus, he is not that interesting, and the Venom in SM3 showed no evidence of the anti-hero version. It would end up lame.

a venom spin off is just a horrible idea considering the symbiote doesnt have a sentient conscience, it'd just be rubbish eddie brock doing more rubbish stuff in a symbiote costume and making sexual innuendos while jumping into explosions...

:o

I don't agree with the form but yeah you're right. Venom in SP3 was a pure villain, not some VERY VERY VERY VERY angry anti-hero. Make a spin off movie about him would contradict absolutely everything that was established in the movie. The only way he could be back would be as a villain in a futur sequel (and his return would be over the top no matter what...).

This is exciting news! I can't wait to hear more about this.

I do however hold some skepticism, anyone remember that Venom movie we were supposed to get years ago? The one that was supposedly written by David S. Goyer? That sure came through, lol.

why not devote a film towards ock gathering members of the sinister six instead and them just throw them all into a spiderman movie without any need for everyone's back story. all those who aren't completely explained in the ock movie can then be elaborated in like spidey 5.

Right now we have no idea how it's going to be done, if done at all. All we can really do is wait.

I have mixed thoughts about this. It may do good, it may not. I mean it could work, but I don't really like the "Anti-Hero" attitude from Venom. Maybe they could do it but have Venom cold blooded like in Spidey3. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I just find it hard to believe that Raimi would say yes to another symbiote villain. One who's even more simplistic than Venom, too.

For Spidey film continuation perhaps, but they can always start fresh for $$$ purposes.

The Venom movie most likely will suck... but it doesn't have to suck. They could make it work if they tried.

First thing, Venom would likely start out as a pure villain, and undergo personal growth that turns him into an anti-hero, so he does something legitimately good by the end of the movie.

If they got a good writer and director it could work... but I see this movie going the way of Elektra.

even if the venom movie sucks...

I agree.
I love Venom...he is my favorite villain...but I don't think a movie with only him would work. and...like you said...Venom in SM3 isn't the anti-hero we know.
he was really bad...a real villain. like himself said..."I like to be bad...it makes me happy."

Have none of you read ASM #300? Venom was a murderous psychopath in his first appearance, guys.

He didnt become an "anti-hero" until a few years later.

Exactly. That's when the character became lame.

The first time I will agree with you. I think it will suck, but its Venom.. That's why I'm seeing it if it comes out.

OMG!!!!! A Venom movie!? If it has Carnage & Spidey I'll pee myself.
