Throwing her in because of a possible 1 bad movie is not fair, in my opinion.
My annoyance with Arad grows every day, Rothman is just a distant memory.
Arad.
Rothman at least had the decency to resign/get fired.
From what exactly? Sorry I really am unfamiliar with what he did.
He was at Fox and screwed with X-Men and probably the other superhero movies as well. I think he takes part of the blame for X3. I believe he was against the likes of Sentinels and storylines like Days of Future Past. I've somewhat forgotten the details myself so other people could probably explain it much much better.
I think the difference is Arad's at least done some helpful things. He's probably done more things overall, which means he's done more terrible things too, but I can't think of much that Rothman's done that's positive.
At least 10 years ago then I agree. However the landscape's changed. People are making films involving talking Racoons and a serious attempt is going to be made into making a female-led superhero film. Arad wants to keep doing the same thing over and over. People want something new.
Arad is a lot like Frank Miller imo; responsible for some great things in the past but now pretty much a pain in the behind

People defend him by saying that he had to make the deals he did, but any fool could have done better. He let studios have the rights in perpetuity instead of adding clauses that would have return them to Marvel after a set period of time. He also made deals that paid Marvel very little on even the most lucrative franchises.
Arad saved Marvel but left it in a very poor position. Had Kevin Feige not taken control of the studio at the age of 34 and proven to be a brilliant visionary, Marvel would eventually have gone under anyway. Arad delusionally claims that he is more responsible than Feige for Marvel's success but everyone in Hollywood knows better.
I feel this thread should be bumped back up in light of recent news. Now that Rothman's mark on Fox is pretty much gone with future Fox films moving forward, I take it here everyone is definitely putting Arad on the wanted list?
Well, there hasn't been anything new since the last time this thread was here (yes, a lot of buzz about things being discussed, but no new movie). I'll say what I said before, Arad has some good things in his career to make up for the negative things (he had a longer time). Rothman never really did anything good. But there's still more opportunities for Arad to drag things down farther. If he does, he'll be worse. But I don't think we've quite gotten to that point.

Avi Arad is the George Lucas of the 2010s, he was once of the most brilliant creative minds in Hollywood who's name was regularly associated with quality, however greed has lead him to run his projects like a business, and thus has tarnished his name. His accomplishments cannot be denied, he was even a producer on Iron Man!
The two can't really be compared because they've both held /hold different positions of power. Arad's just a producer. Rothman on the other hand was a studio head. Arad's equivalent would be Lauren Shuler Donner and Rothman's would be Amy Pascal.
