Awesome trailers for sucky movies.

Absolutely! The movie was so disappointing.

Yeah, Agent Sands is one of the best characters in the trilogy though.

Gotta say Spidey 3 and Battle for LA. Total disappointment's and just pissed me off. Only positives are the epic trailers for both films

This doesn't make any sense. No one enjoys seeing a trailer and then after the film doesn't perform goes back on it. Also I always base a trailer on it's own merits, not anticipation.

Never said that.
I said trailer anticip and trailer performance are two very different things.

For example how many people are foaming at the mouth for the new Hobbit trailer and will be after they see it. Compared to how many people will see the trailer alone and be won over by that.

I remember being so pumped for Van Helsing when I first saw the trailers:

but even then, at that tender young age, I realized the movie sucked.

Well that still doesn't mean The Hobbit won't have an amazing trailer.

Superman Returns was the first one that I thought of. It looked so epic and I loved the shots of Superman in action. The trailer left out creepy Superman spying on his ex.

The other one I thought of was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Not that the movie was that bad, or that I hated it, but the trailer had my anticipation through the roof. That epic shot of Indy picking up his hat was just awesome.

That Batman & Robin trailer with Danny Elfman's theme.

Troy - The shot of the 2 armies going at each other.... was downright amazing in the trailer.

All of the Star Wars prequels
Star Trek
Armageddon
Deep Impact

X-Men: The Last Stand. Epic trailer. Movie...not so much.
This.

Seriously, that's one of the most epic trailers I've ever seen. Downloaded that trailer in 1080p just to watch it for hours (I know, that's not normal but hey, that was a superb trailer).

Wolverine also had a great trailer the final movie ended up even worse than X3.

Other things that come to my mind:
- Transformers 1 (At least after that I knew what to expect but boy that film was sooooo disappointing / childhood shattering)
- Ninja Assassin (WTF!? Hello? Story? Acting? Anyone?)
- Green Lantern (The extended trailer from Wondercon)

I thought 'creepy superman spying on his ex' was the only aspect of that movie that was interesting, and even then, it was quite boring.

I thought the trailer was quite underwhelming, I mean, when the best thing you can say about it here is him picking up his hat, it's saying to me that it was not so much the trailer, but the memories you had of the other movies that generated your anticipation.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

That was the days before I followed movies online or anywhere else, so I literally didn't know a movie existed until I saw the trailer for it. When the flawless Lost World teaser came up with nothing but a T-Rex roaring in the rain and "Something...has...survived" tagline I nearly had a heart attack. It was the perfect teaser. And then...the movie. I enjoyed the movie when it came out, but it in no way lived up to that tease.

I also agree with whoever said the Troy trailer. That trailer was the best part of my Matrix Revolutions screening that night, lol.

Sucky movies with awesome trailers:

SUCKER PUNCH
Clash of the Titans
Cowboys & Failiens
The Spirit
Spider-Man 3
Terminator Salvation
Superman Returns

Movies with exceptional trailers that made the film look better than it turned out to be:

Australia
Green Lantern (not the first trailer, but the Con footage and the second trailer)
Immortals

Terminator 3
Terminator Salvation
Spider-Man 3
Bruce Almighty

And if remember more, I will post them.

X-Men: The Last Stand

Green Lantern (the more serious trailer, I think it was the 2nd one)

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (I was fooled into thinking that Bay got it right this time)

I mean the teaser for spiderman 3 had me in awe, We see the black symbiote take of parker and get a glimpse of sandman and a year later we get a limp you know what on arrival.

I always had this theory, if your watching a trailer and you cant tell what the story is and its all action scenes or just shots of nothing then 8 times out of 10 the movie will suck. The trailer for the first hangover was perfect in my opinion it gave you the story and gave you just enough to peak your curiousity.
