Well, that wasn't so much a recast as it was a loose ret-con. Not even a retcon, just a situation where the makers of the show just tacked on a new character no one ever heard of.

How about on Friends, when you had that one episode where you saw off of Joey's sisters, and the joke was that they all looked alike. But whenever they wanted to do an episode focusing on an individual sister, they'd hire some famous actress, and none of them looked alike! Neither Christina Ricci nor Drea De Mateo look alike, nor do they look like any of the actresses that play Joey's sisters originally.

Not really a recast, but when CBS picked up Step by Step they dropped Cody and replaced him with a combo of annoying blond child and Bronson Pinchot.

He wasn't in jail, he ended up getting aquited cause his wife was a raging alcoholic, supposidely he was protecting his kids. CBS didn't want to deal with that stuff so they cut him.

You sure you're not talking about when Jerry's real-life brother, Charlie, joined the show? In which case, he wasn't playing an alternate Quinn, but Quinn's brother.

Nope... talking about when Jerry and his brother left the show and they brought in a dude who was an alternate version of Quinn. He didn;t really resemble O' Connell at all and they nickenamed him "Mallory". It was the season of the show when Rembrandt was the main character.
