Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO - Part 1

Zaslav is where good things go to die.

Why do I think Bad Robot's involvement is why Zaslav wanted to be rid of it? :o

Just heard about this. I thought high profile shows like this would be safe. :csad: The Zaslav era continues to bring riches.

Can't really get a read on what he's saying there. You'd think he wouldn't say anything if there was nothing to report, but at the same time it comes off as vague optimisim more than something solid. So the show was cancelled, the studio having to pay the whole cast regardless, and now there might be something in the future? That is some clever business right there ha.

The way he's saying it implies there have at least been talks about some sort of continuation with someone in some form.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but at the same time if anyone has any 'pull' in the tv industry to get their series back after cancelation it's Jonathan Nolan.

Is there any possibility that Westworld‘s original planned ending will be dramatized in any form — whether as a graphic novel or a movie or anything? Do you still have hope for that?
Yes, 100 percent. We’re completionists. It took me eight years and a change of director to get Interstellar made. We’d like to finish the story we started.

How much did Warners taking the show off Max bother you? To not just cancel it but to remove it from the streaming service.
Look, my career began on CBS [with Person of Interest]. The amount of people you can reach with a free, ad-supported service [like Roku and Tubi, which had Westworld last year] is vastly higher than with a subscription service. That part didn’t bother me. But in terms of finishing the story, you understand that you get the time that you get, sometimes it’s as much as you want, sometimes it’s not. I’m so ****ing proud of what we made. It was an extraordinary experience. I think it would be a mistake to look back and only feel regret [over how it ended]. But there’s still very much a desire to finish it.

Jeffrey Wright and Evan Rachel Wood hinted on a possible return as well. They're not giving up on it yet.

It lost its way somewhat but that first season of Westworld was just sublime. I’d still like to see it wrapped up neatly
