Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO

I have a huge problem with the writting and direction in ep9.My friend didnt know that Bernand was Arnold before ep9 like i did . at around 00:38 he figured it out. Now why would at around 00:48 the twist be that he is Arnold? It was very strange how they presented it. I know what a slow burn or slow reveal is. IMO this was not.

I don't understand the problem you're describing. Your friend figured out where they were going wit the Bernard/Arnold thing 10 minutes before it was revealed. All the clues, hints, and pieces of evidence have been laid out across the entire season. So, good for your friend, I guess?

Browsing through the Westworld Reddit page, it doesn't seem like any of the people who figured out these plot points several weeks ago are upset or disappointed in the show's writing. In fact, this episode seems to be garnering a hell of lot of praise.

What is there left to show in ep10? We know that Dolores kills Arnold and that she is connected to Wyatt. We know that a lot of hosts are remembering and know abot themselfs,we know how exactly Maeve will escape(two different trailers show it),we know that MIB is William and that Dolores will try to kill MIB before finding out that its William. Thank god that i invested my time for the themes and the whole story as a whole and not focus my time on twists. So what if i find out in one week that there is no world left when Maeve escapes the park(Dolores: ''If it's such a wonderful place out there, why are you all clamoring to get in here?''). and if Ford is waiting for Maeve at the door? sooo what.

What is left to show in the finale? How about the outcomes of everything they've been building toward throughout the season? Nearly all important theories were confirmed last night, but there is still a huge question mark as to how everything plays out in the finale.

So, any bets on Wyatt is [blackout]another Bernard model[/blackout]

Why would Ford create a robot(by himself) and put in all the normal voice commands that Maeve used on Bernard? i mean that would mean that when Bernard was next to other hosts and some of the tech guys said the voice commands he should have frozen.

Because Ford is smart enough to not give everyone clearance to voice control Bernard. Maeve was only able to because she modified her programing to "god" status.

My bet is one Wyatt being any one of the following: [BLACKOUT]Dolores, Teddy, Abernathy[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]I'm leaning towards Dolores[/BLACKOUT]

I think pretty much everyone figured out the reveal either before this episode even aired or 10 minutes before it happened, but I loved the way they handled it. Such great acting and the buildup was great .

[BLACKOUT]I wonder what's gonna happen to the third Hemsworth brother? I'm thinking Elise may be alive out there and maybe her meddling was the reason the bots weren't responding his commands? Or is it all just Ford :funny:.[/BLACKOUT]

So here's my question on this revelation...
if Bernard is supposed to be a physical replication of Arnold, how has no one noticed the resemblance and said anything to him or Ford? I know it's been close to 35 years, but I find it strange that no one working at the park would have made mention of it. Perhaps we will learn more next week...

[BLACKOUT]Explained in episode 2(?), the people above Ford scrubbed him from the records, created a legend about how it was just Ford.[/BLACKOUT]

Just throwing this out there with how the show likes to distract.... what if MiB isn't William, but Logan? and the wife MiB spoke about isn't the sister but someone else entirely?

[BLACKOUT]I'm 99% in the William is MIB group, but this wouldn't surprise me, I have started to see theories pop up that Charlotte is MIB's daughter that he spoke about in episode 8[/BLACKOUT]

Bernard was created form scratch by Ford with a small simple 3d printer. He would obviously program him to only respond to his voice. If its explained that its not about the specific words but that Maeve is special with something else in her program i will accept it.

If it is Logan how could anyone like MIB as a character based on what we know about MIB and Logan?

maybe something happens to William that rips Logan to the core and completely changes his outlook on life the universe and everything? He watches someone mild mannered turn into a psychopath and knows that he helped turn him..... or something, who knows with this show.

I will think about it. But i dont think it is Logan's fault.

Dont forget what MIB said about his wife and daughter. Logan already is a mean jackas.....

i'm probably way off base with this... but the way the show's been going... I don't think you can rule ANYTHING out TBH

Based on what happened in last nights episode, I think you can throw out the Logan theories.

I heard a very convincing argument back around episode 5 that MIB was Logan, but I can pretty much discount that now.

Think about it. We are meant to think Logan is a bad man, and certainly he might have some questionable motives, but at his heart he's just a guy who views this as a real life video game. Think about it, there's guys out there that play Grand Theft Auto and run around shooting people in the head, and beating up hookers, but these people aren't maniacs, they are able to endulge dark fantasies in an environment where they know they aren't hurting anyone real, nor would they dream about hurting anyone real.

William just like MIB is the one who takes this stuff extremely seriously. At first he is put off, but then he is seduced by what he sees and it consumes him over the next 30 years. It's William's first time in the park. He's the one that this has an impact on, where for Logan this is just old hat. William is the one who said when he was young he used to "live in the stories" that he read as a child.

this now makes more sense. good writting

This season really has been expertly crafted.

This is such a great moment.

Am I a little slow that I have to keep reading recaps to understand what the hell happened in each episode?

They have explained it, both through exposition and showing it works that way.

I gasped at that :funny: What follows this moment as shown in the finale promo made me laugh so hard

If it's the bit I'm thinking you mean, it's also a complete reversal of the scene in Ep1 where he does it to her.

Who doesn't love Ed Harris?

Turning to a couple of the episode's other big moments, is there a behind-the-scenes story on the Man in Black getting caught in the horse-and-noose trap?

I will tell you this: Ed Harris did that all himself. (Laughs.) That man is incredible. We had a stuntman do one of the passes, and no offense to the stuntman, but we didn't need it. Ed did it all. Ed had a harness on and a rope around his neck, and had special effects and stunt guys doing the pull on him. But he physically dragged from the point where he took the knife out of Teddy, yanked back to that tree, at the speed that you're seeing, and hung up off of his feet. He did it himself several times. The man is incredible. He is badass. You look up cool in the dictionary, and it says Ed Harris.

Yep. As others have mentioned, despite some of the theories being right on the money, last ep was still great in the manner it handled and executed its twists. And the acting was top notch, once more.

I love that MIB's scene with Charlotte was basically one big "You're ruining my immersion!" moment. :awesome:

Is that bit from an interview with Nolan? I love how he fanboys over Harris at the end there. :woot:
