Been pondering this for a while. Let's face it, the biggest headache in collecting comics is bagging the boards so you can protect your comics. You gotta sit there and bag each and every one until you're done, or however you do it. Now, the question would be...why? Why the hell do bags and boards still come separately? Why don't these companies just bag their own boards then seal them up? Better yet...why haven't comic companies started bagging and boarding their own comics when they ship to the stores, so you can buy them pre-protected? Think a major partnership between the publishers and these guys could yield some great time-saving results.

Any thoughts?

well, for one, many people like different combinations of the different types

I never bag and board. Too much of a hassle.

I bag and board everything. Does anyone have the comic boxes that open like a file cabinet drawer? I'm thinking of switching to them.

I always thought that the first guy to market a clear plastic backboard insert (so's you could see both sides of the book) would make a mint.

I've had since 1985 to start making em, but have I? No!

I have a lot of comics that need to be bagged and boarded.

I was debating them for awhile. There's also certain types of filing cabinets you can just get at Staples that are very nice - and cost about the same as the Drawer Boxes for the amount of comics you can fit in them - which I might pick up at some point

They seem convenient, though, ill stick with my regular long boxes.

I want one of those so badly. :csad:
Those cardboard boxes are so unsightly :o

I might experiment with one. They seem like a good idea. I'm sure everybody has to deal with moving 4 or 5 boxes to get what you need on the bottom, and for some reason whatever you need it's always on the bottom.

I have enough space that I DON'T have to deal with that, but I'd like to compress a little. I'm thinking of buying one or two of the filing cabinets I talked about and putting them in a closet

I got my long boxes in a closet in the spare bedroom. It's a big closet, right now I got 12 in there and it can fit another 7 or 8. I'm gonna move them to the basement after I finish it off. I want to keep it as tight as possible so 4 high with the file boxes might be good for me.

My comic shop bags and boards every new comic they get, but they charge 25 cents per bag and board. F*** that. I'll do it myself for cheaper.

Can you give me a general idea/picture/item number? I've been killing my back lifting boxes up and down the shelf every Wendsday, and I could definatly use a better storage method

My shop does that, no added price.

Those draw boxes are way too expensive, but I'm afraid will soon be neccessary fer me. Gonna hold off as long as I can, though.

The way I avoid the back aches is I got a box specifically fer the comics I've read, and usually can hold out 2 months or so before I hafta actually put comics away. Then I do it all in one shot an' wait another two months to repeat.

I figured they would be expensive. You don't have to by all you need at once. Get one or two at a time so it dosen't kill you're wallet. How much are these things anyway?

To answer your question, its actually really simple. Shipping costs.

I believe it's the HON 4 Drawer Legal Size most people I saw discussing it on another board were using. One guy took pictures: he'd cut up his old longboxes to use as dividers to make two rows of comics per drawer, and the whole thing fit about 8 longboxes

A little pricey there, but I've been trying to find a used one on Craigslist or somewhere. Sometimes offices close and they've got to get rid of their furniture. It ends up being only a slight bit more than what they want for the Drawer Boxes, which I think are corrugated plastic and damage much more easily

I'm usually good about bagging and boading all my books. The file cabinet drawers seem really nice and looks like it wouldn't be a hassle. I've been pondering switching the long boxes out for those.

I get them for free :yay:

I only bag and board the comics I like. I really don't find bagging and boarding comics a hassel, since I don't buy a lot, only 8-12 titles a month. The boxes however take up a lot of space, sometimes brake (even if it isn't passed comic compacity) and they stick out like a sore thumb.

ew, what kind of boxes do you have? are they old? yellow? are they kept in yoru garage?

For some reason I enjoy bagging and boarding my comics :(

Me too, it gives me a chance to see what I have in my collection.
