I had never heard of Mangold before, but pulling up his page on IMDB, I see he has quite a good resume. And since Russell Crowe has barely even been in a bad movie in the past decade, this looks pretty good.

Master and Commander was good. It's not for everyone though. I liked Crowe's friendship with Paul Bettany.

I remember watching Jay Leno (so sue me) and he made a joke that Crowe was so excited over the new Batman movie (this was last year) that he threw a bat-phone at the screen.

Seriously, he's a great actor... it will be interesting to see him and Bale working together.

Both are notoriously intense, dedicated actors whom are equally talented and gifted. It should be very interesting indeed.

Yeah, because the Academy is an indicator of how good a movie is
Gladiator was just a blockbuster kind of annoying summer-action flick that had no respect for historical facts and bored the hell out of me after the Carnuntum scenes. I lost all my respect for Ridley Scott after seeing this movie and he just gained a little bit back after Kingdom of Heavens.

I was an extra in Girl, Interrupted. It wasn't much, really, but I was one of the few who made it to the final cut. I felt sorry for a lot of the other people. They brought in like, 50 of us for that Cambridge party scene and you can only see about 10, maybe. BUT I WAS ONE OF THEM!!! ROCK!!!

But anyway, Mangold is a really cool guy. He even let me use his cell phone because I needed to call home.
