I'm worked up? Get real. I'm annoyed at everyone taking it personal when ever something is announced to be getting close to their precious Dark Knight.
Everyone? I must have a reading comprehension problem because, in this topic at least, I don't see anyone taking it personal, let alone everyone. Where are these masses that are frothing at the mouth over the possibility of their precious movie being upstaged?
Mostly people like you. The ones who can't see their own bias. Especially when you've gone to great lengths to put words in my mouth. I never said it would "diminish any "accomplishments", whatever they are, seeing as though its the second highest grossing film of all time in an era where ticket prices are soaring.
I never claimed that you said that.

That comment was made in regards to you being so unnecessarily aggressive in your post. Seriously, take a look at your post and then look at the ones that preceeded it. There wasn't anyone getting worked up about anything, and yet your post would make one think that everyone in this topic had their torches and pitchforks at the ready. My point was that nobody's going to forget about TDK or its significance just because a movie makes more money than it did. B89, like TDK, was also immensely successful and also redefined what a comic book movie could be, and people certainly haven't forgotten about it yet.
You know why people can't just walk into Harry Potter's new movie and enjoy it if they haven't seen the others? Because it's a SEQUEL. Generally thats what happens with Sequels, their continuations.
And TDK wasn't? If you'd taken the time to slow down and read what I was saying, you'd see that I was explaining that TDK can also work as a stand alone film. The new HP doesn't have that luxury, so it can't bring in new fans in the same way that TDK could. People that had never seen Batman Begins and didn't have much knowledge about Batman could just walk in and see TDK and still have a good understanding of the story. I'm not so sure the same could be said of the new Potter film.
And I don't know where you live but Harry Potter strands ALL ages. But then again, that has abolutely nothing to do with anything other than (big surprise) you throwing subliminals at the Potter films.
You're trying to read an aggressive meaning into my words where none was intended. When I said that Potter's fans were mostly younger, I was not referring to just children. I meant 30 (maybe even 40) years and younger. Think about the ages of these two franchises for a minute. Harry Potter's been around for 12 years. Batman's been around for 70. There's a lot more people out there that are familiar with Batman than with HP, just because he's been around so much longer.
And let's get something straight. In YOUR world, it was BATMAN and the Joker who sold the movie.
That duo made a blockbuster in 1989, and did it again almost 20 years later. Why is that so hard for you to believe?
In the real world, It was because the guy who played the Joker died, and people wanted to see the role that was so heavily rumored to have killed him. The Joker sold the movie. And I'm sure you hear that all the time, much to your "chagrin" no doubt.
Actually, I appreciate you giving me something to laugh about.

I have no doubt that Heath's death did bring some extra money to the film, but not enough to make it a blockbuster. While he was a rising star after Brokeback Mountain, his movies simply did not bring in that kind of money. And what is
actually his last movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, is coming out in the next couple of months, and isn't going to be nearly as successful as TDK was. So your theory that it was Heath's death that brought in all that money is quite silly.
There are plenty of whiney little fanboys all over this board upset at the very idea that TDK will be surpassed. And you know it. Once again to your chagrin no doubt. Of course theirs lots of people who don't care. So, obviously I wasn't talking to them. However, their are PLENTY little fanboys who are seemingly highly upset about it.
Where are they? They seem to be steering clear of this topic for some reason.
Oh and I don't hate the movie. I just don't like it.
I never said that you hated it. Although I do find your behavior towards it and its fans to be unusually aggressive and mostly unwarranted. I mean, there definitely are people who put TDK on a pedestal (I'm guilty of it myself, sometimes), but there's nobody here going "OMG HARRY POTTER SUCKS, DEATH TO POTTER!!11!!!!111one" just because of this silly box office thing. Hell, I'd not be surprised if a lot of people posting here are fans of both franchises.
