Barbara Gordon Casting Thread

What's wrong with someone having a lisp?

And I'm not sure how J-Law equates to the conversation at hand but I'll still pass on Kendrick as Barb. Kate Mara, on the other hand, would be a choice I can again agree with. Plus, if she got cast it'd give her a chance to redeem herself in the world of cbm from the disaster that was FFINO.

Her lisp is distracting to me personally. Someone named a couple of actresses that they weren't fond of, and I added one of mine. Chill out.

Emma Stone has a lisp? I've never noticed. I just came back from La La Land for example, not once did i notice.

But you're singling her out (seemingly) all because of her lisp. That isn't exactly a legitimate reason that an actor/actress shouldn't get a role, though.

She's a great actress and I'm sure she would be fine as Barbara, but her lisp would distract me. End of story.

Pfft, Affleck barely opens his mouth to talk, a lisp is not trouble at all.

Quirks like that are actually good in measured doses. Gives characters personality who otherwise lacked something that made them feel tangible.

Definitely. And it makes the character more relatable to those who share that same trait.

Bale as Batman had a lisp and it was annoying as hell - now you want Batgirl to have the same?! :wow:

Emma's lisp has never bothered me... it's barely noticeable :hehe:

The more time that elapses, the more I favor Jane Levy more than anyone else to play Barb. She'd be perfect for it. Has the look, the acting ability and everything else needed to pull it off.

Come on, WB, cast Levy and don't **** this up. :cmad:

Do people really want a batgirl? It just seems silly to decide, I'm also going to dress up in a bat suit. How is she a great fighter? Or are they talking about the character in a wheelchair?

Well, I'd prefer Oracle since it coincides better with an older Batman.

Curious about that too. Has anyone ever hinted anything about a Batgirl in the DCEU. People somehow got convinced that the Harley Quinn spin-off would be a Birds of Prey movie, so obviously a Batgirl would have been needed.
But now that it is officially a Gotham City Sirens movie that sort of negates the need for a Batgirl. So I guess this is really more of just an idle fantasy thread with no basis in reality?

Absolutely yes.

How is she a great fighter?
Um, because she trained under the freaking Batman, who's usually written as being a pretty decent fighter, or so I've heard. :hehe:

Well, Barbara Gordon is one of Batman's most prominent and popular supporting characters... of course it makes sense to have a thread about her in this section, for the same reason why Dick Grayson has one.

Yeah a lot of the reports about the Gotham Sirens movie mentioned Batgirl and even the Birds of Prey. Batgirl was mentioned in the initial reports and then again when the writer was announced they mentioned Batgirl and the birds of prey. The last report about David Ayer mentioned Batgirl again but not the BoP.

Oh. That makes sense as much as anything. The idea still makes me cringe at how cheesy it could come off. One person dressing up as an animal is enough for me, already.

Depends on how she's written.

If they go full Batgirl she has to skew young. Young people are stupid and impulsive when it comes to making decisions. They're also oblivious to their own mortality. She'd have to start off as a pain in Batman's ass who's more likely to get killed than solve a crime. Eventually he gets tired of saving her crazy ass over and over and decides to train her so that at least she isn't a liability.

If they go for an older Barbara she has to be Oracle. An adult, crazy ass fangirl dressing up as a Bat is cringe inducing.
