Barbara Gordon Casting Thread

I think Barbara Gordon should be introduced in a Batman film, being inspired by Batman's actions. Maybe in a mid or post credits scene we could see her going all 'Michelle Pfeiffer', rushing home and sewing together a Batgirl outfit.

A heard of DM's flock round here, and bite her....

Well, that is quite easy to answer because BATGIRL is NOT in #BIRDSOFPREY

They didn't say that on the record, rather Justin tweeted. Profound difference. Was decided recently no Batgirl. Attention to detail, I didn't say Barbara Gordon, I said Batgirl. ??

agree with this

@FlawlesslyGeeky

I feel like they’re going to have her as Oracle in this film and then adapt the new 52 stories for the batgirl movie having her being treated for the paralysis eventually overcoming it and she’ll have to learn how to be batgirl again. I think it could work.

and have the poppy Batgirl in Matt Reeves" Bat prequels

Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Might I just suggest... Andi Matichak.

I kinda have this feeling that when Batgirl shows up in the movies she'll be paired with Batman... it just seems like a general trend recently, The Killing Joke, LEGO Batman, the animated series... comic fans may not like it but people that adapt it seem to really like it. I can see why, it introduces a interesting dynamic that goes beyond that whole "I'm your father figure blah blah blah" and that whole "You're a criminal and I'm a superhero so we can't be together!"

I never really got the sense Barbara sees Bruce as a father figure anyway. Even Cassandra didn't perceive their relationship as such.

After Bumblebee, I’m rooting for Hailee Steinfeld.

Yeah because they have a thing for putting Bruce with a younger woman. DC in general is weird that they've paired Babs up with majority of the male Batfam. Bruce/Dick/Tim...stop throwing her around DC.

Anyway...Sophie Skelton wouldnt be a bad choice

I like the idea of two Batgirls, one in the Oracle role and one on the rooftops.

My pick for Barbara is also Zoey Deutch.

I don’t know if I would say he’s a “father figure” in the purest sense. But she does have a pretty odd relationship with her own dad where she has to be the stabilizing force in the family. With Batman, he plays the mentor role, but it is more like a drill sergeant/jerk boss than a loving father. The dynamic of her relationship with Batman vs her relationship with Jim G is actually pretty interesting.

That said, if they were to go the route of pairing her with Batman or at least a similar age, I’d go with Kate Mara.

Sophia Lillis for Barbara Gordon. She's simply the best choice for the role, for multiple reasons.

She's a fantastic choice! As well as Anya Taylor Joy

I know, right? She just checks all the boxes. Not only does she look exactly like Barbara (much more than other popular fancasts), she's also a solid actress and she's of the right age to play the protegee of Pattinson's young Batman.
