Batman: Arkham Knight - Part 1

I hope they keep it up with the prequels and spin-offs. I love Origin's story the most, and want to see Montreal's take on Batman meeting Ra's for the first time. And hopefully that Suicide Squad game is happening. And lastly, I need a Beyond game.

I'd love a Beyond game, too.

I used to want a game after this franchise set in the same universe with a new story But I think it's for the best to end the franchise and leave it alone like the Nolan Bat trilogy,There's potential with at least one AO sequel but after that I think WB Montreal or someone else should start another new game univrse and be about the JL or BB in it's own timeline

If Rocksteady is staying then they could do that too,Pull a New 52(universe reboot)every few games,Maybe they can do an Infinite Crisis type of game

Why should there be a sequel to Arkham Origins?
Two games with more gadgets than their sequel?

I guess some people liking AO enough and finding potential in a sequel is not good enough and not like that game was a failure anyway but just not too successful

The gadget thing was pretty obviously why it was missing in at least AA

Here's the trick question though. Where would you go with Batman after this? Since this game's open world will be full Gotham, where do you go after that and still have it be a Batman game as we know it? Do you go full Gotham again? Same map, same everything, but just different story?

Unless you do Batman Beyond (which would be awesome :woot:), you can't go bigger without crossing into JL/DCU territory. At least with franchises like GTA and Assassin's Creed, you can get a different location everytime.

They have a few viable options.

1) Do something other than Batman, with the same strengths/gameplay. Green Arrow. Suicide Squad. This goes for WB Montreal picking up, but Rocksteady actually can do the same thing with Ninja Turtles or some original IP.

2) Go in a different direction with Batman, which may include a JL/DCU direction. Say, a Superman vs Batman game, or a Batman-travels-the-world storyline with more traditional levels.

3) Continuing to expand what they have now.
  • Broadening and Deepening Gotham City (sewers, water areas, nearby rural areas, cave system, nearby Bludhaven, having civilians who run when Batman appears, etc).
  • Broadening and Deepening the multiplayer (8 v 8 v 4, Co-op!).
  • Broadening and Deepening the Gadgets and Puzzles (Rocket Pads from Under the Red Hood for instance).
  • Broadening and Deepening the Rogue's Gallery (Maxie Zeus, Clock King, Prometheus, Ventriloquist).

I wouldn't mind more Batman games after this but I kinda want the Arkham Knight to be the end of the Arkhamverse. For at least 10 years anyways lol. It has become my third favorite interpretation of Batman after BTAS and Tim Burton's Batman but I'd hate to see it get milked in a AC like fashion. Unless somehow it was consistently good.

I need someone to make a proper Green Lantern game. I wonder what that Suicide Squad game would be like, if it were made. Would be great if they could mix the Arkham Games with Hitman.

A Green Lantern game could be sweet! I've always liked it to picture it similar to Star Wars Bounty Hunter but on a larger scale with living worlds and alien cities where you are hunting for wanted criminals. Space police baby!

I wouldn't mind if WBM does Beyond after this. At least the environment could feel different. Different characters, powers and challenges.

But the gameplay would probably need to be similar to Zone of the Enders.

Deathstroke and Nightwing spin-off games would be cool too,Similar gameplay and visuals in the same universe but different locations and whole new stories for them

That would be cool. Don't think WB would do that though at least not with the budget of an Asylum or City

I think WBM is going to end up doing a Suicide Squad. But I feel like they should really move past the Batman universe altogether. Time to give other heroes their shine.

I don't mind if a Deathstroke game is kept smaller. I wouldn't want an entire city to wreck chaos in. Maybe just a couple different locations, the size of Asylum/City. I just want some well thought out and designed missions, to get my mercenary action on.

They will if other characters can prove as profitable with the mainstream as Bats has been, which I do believe can be the case to an extent, I mean take the CWs Arrow for example.

I just found out that someone made a Deathstroke Free Roam Mod for Origins. And it's already 3 months old.

Haha not surprised. They did that with Robin and Nightwing for AC I believe.

There's also a Boss Mod! :awesome:

I would not mind if they expanded Batman's earlier years. There's plenty of material to tap into; if they feel otherwise, I'd be interested if they pursued games with street level heroes like the Question or Green Arrow. Unless it's a fighting game, I'd pass on a League game...or one including Superman. That's my .002 cents, anyway.

If they ever do a League game, I'd probably make it like Fall of Cybertron. A single player campaign, with a tight pace, and you play as different League members with their own style in different chapters. No free roam, just a linear adventure, that focuses on each member's strength in their own chapters.

So in one level you'd sneak around as Batman, as Green Lantern you could have an epic space battle, as Superman you fight a boss in the middle of the city, with Flash you run around the globe and do your thing, etc.

Yea that's not a bad idea.

What about using the Lego template? Iv only played the demo to that new Marvel Lego game and outside of the dumb Lego setting, I think that'd be a cool set up for an Avengers game or JLA type game. But again that's only going by the demo I played, not sure how the full title plays out

I guess it could work. I have only played the Marvel Lego Demo as well, with a friend too, and it was really fun. It's basically like XML/MUA, just kiddified, free roam and with better camera angles.

I wouldn't mind if they take the Lego concept, replace the whole models and graphics with something similar to DC Universe Online and give us complex controls with a deep move set.

That's basically what I always wanted. XML/MUA, with the free roam and gameplay of DCUO.

IMO the one released around the time of the movie was pretty good.

Haven't played that, but I did hear it was pretty decent. But it's too much of a God of War clone for me.

I want epic fights like this in a game.

I really think Zone of the Enders comes closest to how a Green Lantern game should play.

yeah well they could have had that with the city of heroes creators but marvel chose to be difficult them selves about it and broke the deal. and later after seeing how DCUO was doing sales wise chose to start it all over again this is prior to Disney buying them (again partly why Disney is hands off to a degree, all deals prior to them buying marvel. it's same for things like Naruto and it's games series ETC all things that were popular before Disney acquired them) and marvel wanted cheap (they were more obessed with the movie half working more then anything) cause they didn't have that backing of some like Disney til later when some one like Disney finally bought them and as Justin woods of marvels game division confirmed. they wanted it all to look diablo style completely in deign cause that's what marvel wanted and they back out on the city of heroes makers cause they them selves view XML / MUA as versions of Diablo in every way in every way of it's design .

if he didn't confirm that people durin SDCC alot of people will still be for ever wondering why they chose that. it was marvel them selves that wanted that way.

for the most part though alot between Marvel heroes and DCUO is the same game play feature wise like the inventory and gear slot system for your character and the instance's where you enter a building like the king pins tower . the only difference is that one looks like a free roam world environment.

but most of the stuff pretty much done the same way with the exception of full art direction of the environment around your charater. if marvel them selves weren't acting that way back then we would have had it in that style of dcuo or some similar to how city of heroes looked. this is why I want some one that actually worked in the video game industry in charge of their games division, and the only person with a similar back ground at marvel to Jim Lee is Joe Mad . The other people don't under stand it as well and will fall back on what they think is popular to them cause it made money to them for a bit.

Remember most of them are just older people and don't fully understand the games industry that well. they weren't playing games them selves like Jim Lee has admitted to and is known to be a gamer. and he's made sure he's a dc man only these days. which is a shame.

The only other person with that same experience on the marvel side is Joe maderia and they only use him for art still in comic's. Yet he has the same back ground Jim lee is known for as well, he was mostly an artist himself and went into the video game industry cause he loved it and is gamer. til they figure that out......

ok we should be on bat man here sorry every one

I actually think the Wonder Woman origin story could work great as a game. You could have open worlds for both Themiscyra and in some city in America. Maybe even spanning different time periods like Assassin's Creed.

lol I don't think wonder woman is that old that she lived through other era's like that . I don't know it may be the way they have interact with the world etc. and that this is sounding like stuff that will take place prior to her meeting up with Justice league, it just with ever interpretation of her it feels she been around shorter then century's. other wise It's not a bad idea. but she can't be the star of it, if that's the setting they do. Just call it Dc's Amazons then.
