Batman: Arkham Knight

Well...I mean, it's not like there isn't a precedent for it. How many villains actually got their due in City, really? Two-Face was basically a cameo, though Catwoman's challenge room battle with him and his goons was okay. Hush was a cameo in City, too. I wasn't expecting much from most of the others. Strange was the one I feel confident in saying was screwed over because he was set up, from the beginning and through the marketing, as a big bad for the game. And...he went out with a whimper.

Most games sidequests are like that, though. The only game I can think of that has made me feel playing a sidequest almost felt like it was treated like a main quest was The Witcher 3. It's not an excuse, but I can't say I've felt letdown, so far, from the sidequests because I wasn't expecting alot of meat to most of it. Maybe if Arkham Knight were an RPG, I might have a problem with it, since the hours you should clock in on those is supposed to be closer to 100, if not over it.

Hush had so much potential and build up for what amounted to nothing. I stand by my theory that, from all the hints in City, they had a different direction in mind for this game that they changed at some point and so they ignored or tossed aside set up in City.

Playing a while ago, I took out a group of people on this balcony overlooking the road and I found a vehicle sized shutter door that shows the locked (lock pad) symbol in detective vision. I couldn't find a switch or console anywhere near by and I can't see a way to open it. I don't remember opening it during the story. Is this possibly DLC related?

Ra's, Riddler, Clayface, Joker, Penguin, Solomon Grundy, Mad Hatter, Deadshot, Mr. Freeze... all had great missions, unique battle sequences.

I've run into a bit of a pickle.
I'm at the big Crime Alley sequence, fighting the onslaught of Jokers. For the life of me, I can't get that combo to work. No matter how hard I try, O+triangle just isn't doing the takedown.
Anybody else face a similar issue?

The side quests to me seemed a cheap marketing gag. "Hey get excited fans, these villains will be in the game!" And then you take out Deathstroke in one hit.

So much of this game just feels like a cop out. I appreciate the scope of Gotham City and being able to drive the batmobile, but I'd readily give those things up for gameplay more along the lines of City or Origins. I'd rather have small scope and varied adventures than large scope and repetition.

I completely agree with this. Rocksteady were much more creative in Arkham City. The gameplay was simply more fun.

Use two fingers simultaneously.
That's how I got it to work for me in City.

Ra's, Riddler, Clayface, Joker, Penguin, Solomon Grundy, Mad Hatter, Deadshot, Mr. Freeze... all had great missions, unique battle sequences.

*The 'Ra's fight' was just a fight against a group of the generic assassin enemy types that we had already fought. I wasn't too happy with it.

*Riddler was fine, but catching him was anti-climactic.

*The Clayface fight wasn't bad, but the first part was nothing but dodging while you throw 10 thousand freeze grenades

*Joker was fine. No opportunity there for a good fight though.

*Penguin was also fine, but again no opportunity for a good fight.

*Solomon grundy wasn't bad, but that barely counts as a fight. You beat him by bombing the machines that are powering him. The fact he was so gigantic made it hard for me to take him seriously.

*Mad hatter was nothing but a swarm of the generic thugs wearing rabbit masks. It was a nice cameo, but the sequence didn't offer anything new as far as gameplay.

*Dead shot missions were cool. Catching him was a short, simple sequence. Can't really call it a fight.

*Mr Freeze was the best boss fight in the game, and the only boss you directly fight without a swarm of minions running at you.

What Asylum, City and Knight are all missing in my opinion is a sequence where you fight a single enemy that is close to batman's skill level. A boss that can counter your attacks, get through your defenses and pose a threat without a swarm of 30 henchmen joining in.

There was much more variation and creativity to the encounters in Arkham City. In Arkham Knight it's basically the same tank battle repeated.

Yeah the last boss of City and Ras' fight we're really cool and everyone keeps talking about Mr. Freeze to this day.

Arkham Knight is only 2 tank battles, 1 which is really awesome in my opinion and then you have a Predator map fight, no physical match at all?

I mean, there's [blackout]Red Hood[/blackout] as well, but that encounter wasn't creative or fun to play either.

Man... so many missed opportunities.

They should have tried to recreate this encounter. Chasing him over rooftops. Having that badass close quarters combat, like in the Deathstroke fight from Origins.

Azrael's side quest, like Hush, was a big missed opportunity too. AC teased a much bigger plot with him, and it was simply taking down a few goons without being hit. However as it stands, I do consider
the 'kill Batman' choice the 'real' ending of this plot. I don't think someone like Azrael takes the news he has to wait for Batman to decide when he's ready to relinquish the mantle of Gotham's protector too well. And by Azrael flipping out, it proves not just anyone can take the job. You can fight almost exactly like Batman, but that doesn't make you Batman.

Gameplay wise with Clayface all you had to do for the bulk of the fight was throw things at him repeatedly. You could even shorten that fight dramatically by easily tricking him into rolling into one of the 4 dynamited doors which knocked down half his health bar.

Anyone noticed this DC easter egg.

guys, i have game braking glitch :( (Xbox ONE) , in the new game plus after you take out the drone in founders island Batman gets stuck in the "you can only walk mode" and now i can´t do anything.

i have 146% of the game and this is ...sigh...a serious deal breaker...now i don´t know what to do, the only thing i CAN do is walk, look arround and select gadgets( can´t use them)...and i can´t even move further than the edge of the building, i think i triggered by destroying the drones that were scouting the area before destroying the drone that had the chip...

It´s so annoying because i was enjoying the game i had all the riddles solved, i also had almost all the upgrades...i don´t see the point in restarting the game , i might be able to get all the upgrades from the main story but THIS ugh...it´s unaceptable

i guess i´ll wait for a patch and if it doesn´t fix it...i might sell it.

Anyone else find [blackout]Joker to be incredibly annoying? I thought at first the hallucinations were a genius way to include him in the game, but its excessive as he pops up in every single scene. [/blackout]He's ruining the game for me as he is better off in smaller doses, not an omnipresent figure

The more I play the game, the more annoyed I become with it. These side missions are either very underwhelming or incredibly tedious.

Rocksteady apparently went, 'Ok, so... bigger Gotham and BATMOBILE!!!!!'' and phoned the rest in like crazy.

On to the Riddler challenges. I'm only doing this (and using YouTube to do it) because I want to see the ending properly on my screen, to help the feeling of finality. Sadly, I can't even see me playing the story mode again any time soon.

I didn't think Deadshot was well done in City.

You're right about the rest, but if we're talking about time spent on these characters, then I wonder if Grundy and Clayface would count since they didn't have much screentime.

I guess I'm wondering if it's a matter of time spent, or just if they shined with the time they had in Arkham Knight? I don't particularly think we need Two-Face to have a 4 or 5 hour questline for him to be done well.

Probably, but I have such a horrible read on the audience that I have no idea what's really popular or not. I liked the Deathstroke boss fight in Origins. But, I can't tell if it was popular or not because I've seen half the comments about it say it was a horrible piece of **** QTE fight and the other half thought it was one of the best in the series. I really liked the Deathstroke fight and the fight with Lady Shiva.

Origins did a Deadshot boss fight properly that's for sure, the whole idea of Deadshot going into Arkham City with subpar gear was baffling to me.

[BLACKOUT]YES! And I feel bad saying that as a huge Joker fan, but the excessive amount he is in the game spoils some of the scenes. For example sometimes he's babbling when Batman is talking to someone else, and the noise of his voice makes it harder to hear the dialogue Batman is having with someone because Joker won't ****.[/BLACKOUT]
