Batman Beyond coming to Comics!

Nguyen's cover is great. But the artist for the book is horrible IMO. His previous Batman was far too scratchy.
His art is hit and miss with me. Like Heart of Hush, and most of his covers are great, but everynow and then, his stuff looks like unhuman twisted flesh. I dig the background, just not the BB Batman.

They were on the verge of reconciling but Barbara falling in love with Bruce ruined it. And Bruce eventually reciprocating it sometime after Justice League Unlimited ruined it for good.

Ah, okay, I do kind of recall them hinting at the whole Bruce/Babs thing hurting the relationship further. I still think hate isn't the proper word, maybe more like divorced, which doesn't always entail hate.

There's nothing wrong IMO in making a DCU Batman Beyond. It would be far more intriguing than a continuation of the TV series. The only way to properly do that is with another DTV movie.
I don't really have a problem with it, but like I said, I like that Beyond is devoid of that stuff. Just adding it would suck. Maybe not make the whole project suck or anything, but it would be adding drops of crap were there was none and/or on top of crap that Beyond already had. Maybe just a brief mention or something, 'Oh, yeah, that kid who was supposedly my kid that flushed himself down the toilet', or 'My age is kind of showing, pretty sure I had a second Robin that died and came back, and did....something. Or maybe not, who cares anyway, why're you asking, Terry, you little bastard!' Otherwise, I prefer that stuff to stay out of the good stuff.
Dick, Tim, and Barbara were it in the DCAU. And their fates were fully explained. Bruce forbade Tim to be Robin again after what the Joker did to him. Dick ended up hating Bruce and moved to Bludhaven. And Barbara was eventually pushed away as well and became a part of the Batman Beyond cast.
Yeah, what I said (outside the hate aspect, which I still think is inaccurate). I was replying to Corp.

Meh, I don't want Batman Beyond to be the future of the DC universe. Tim Drake becomes the f***ing Joker and the Wall hijacks Warren McGinnis' sperm to make Terry Bruce's secret son in that case.

Tim Drake being fired from Robin by Bruce after being brainwashed

Don't forget Ras' inhabiting Talia's body and whatnot else.

Oh, that's another thing I really hope they would change: Babs never f***s Bruce. Blegh. :barf:

Nope. They never fully reconciled in the DCAU and Dick wanted nothing to do with Bruce after he found out she replaced her feelings with Dick for Bruce when he finally wanted to restart his relationship with her.

Justice League Unlimited even further stated that he pushed Dick away.

In the end, Dick ended up hating Bruce in the DCAU.

You know, there was some ****ing terrible, sub-fanfic-quality **** kinda all over Batman Beyond / the DCAU.

Outside the Babs/Bruce fling and the Terry as Batman's son, I actually thought that other stuff was pretty well done in the show and movie. :o

I mean a lot of terrible writers would write their terrible mary-sue Batman into being Batman's son, but it takes a special kind of ****ing terrible to come up with balljacking.

:o

That episode were Ra's was in control of Talia wasn't that bad from what I remember. It would have been better if it had just been Talia herself trying to take out Batman one last time in honor of her father or something, but it wasn't that bad.

And the 'firing' of Robin is kind of an awkward way of describing it. I think it was more a combination of Tim's psychological problems and Batman probably putting pressure on him to not return to the role. I guess you could call it firing, but it worked for the situation.

And the Return of the Joker was great. It sucked for Tim and all, but it was still a pretty well done story. Not something I think would work well in mainstream continuity or anything, but still pretty interesting way of bringing Joker to the Beyond time period. Plus, Tim got better, everyone was happy.

So, yeah, I stand by it :o

I like that phrase, balljacking needs to be used more often :awesome:

It is pretty much useful in only one fictional circumstance which is terrible and shouldn't exist.

Another opinion might be that Batman not having to be a huge *****ey ******* to his sidekicks in order to protect the special true specialness of his One Sue Heir of Specialness. You know, that people could have.

Not the people who wrote the DCAU but OH WELL.

Well, I'm pretty excited for this. I watched Batman Beyond since the beginning and thought Terry Mcginnis was a cool character. I'll be picking it up. :D

So this isn't set in the DC Universe, It's in the DC Alternate Universe? I'm kinda confused by all that jazz.

Balljacking. xD

I always had kind of a problem with how Babs and Bruce became a couple in the DCAU continuity. Before Batman Beyond, we saw Barbara and Dick as a couple and they worked real well together, and then out of the blue Bruce steals her from Dick? No wonder Dick ended up despising him. Plus she was so young in the show, its just kind of creepy as well.

But i LOVE Batman Beyond, to me its one of the most creative cartoons i've ever watched. And they didnt dumb it down for kids either, that show was DARK.

It's set in one of the 52 Earths established by 52 (the series), but not New Earth or Earth 1 or Earth 52 or whatever DC decided the DCU proper is.

I may get this...I will be picking up that annual for sure though.

The fact that Beechen is writing it almost cancels out almost all my excitement for it, leaving just enough curiosity for me to buy the first issue.

Good God, a Leagle sighting. :ninja:

Speaking of which, whatever happened to the Sightings banners that DC was supposed to put on "important" issues? DiDio made a big deal of them when it started out, but the only issue I ever remember having that banner was an issue of World of New Krypton. I wonder if they realized they were implying everything without a Sightings banner was unimportant.

DCAU = DC Animated Universe (Or the Timmverse as some call it). It's one of the 52 Earths, I guess, I don't know.

I'm pretty sure everyone has a problem with that to some degree. Even the people behind the show admitted they thought it was 'wrong', but they did it anyway

For me it is just one word: BUY IT. OK, two words. Both books.

Annual, ok. Book, no way.
