This has probably been suggested before, but Brandon Routh would be an ironic but interesting choice for batman.

Dredd will one day become a word-of-mouth-powered cult classic.

In truth, I would rather see Urban return in Dredd II, than vary that performance to play Batman.

I like Urban for Bats. Doesn't matter if his Dredd was like Bale's Batman....nobody saw Dredd. ;)

You know what's funny? I saw the film a short while ago, and I can only remember bits and pieces from it -- kind of like a bad dream.

No.
Even though I liked his Superman in SR and his appearance in Scott Pilgrim movie, I think the Routh can play only -

* As Superman from Alternate Universe, or maybe not.

* As a Phantom Stranger in JL Dark movie.

* As Shazam. (If it ever gets made.)

The film was excellent, so I will assume your lack of retention was due to unrelated factors. The film itself does have the feel of a bad dream, however, which is clearly intended and largely constructed by the narcotic and telepathy sequences.

I didn't like the film. Urban's performance was fine though.

Kark Urban is best suited for Dr. Bones in Star Trek, as Batman ?

I think not.

Having seen so many different (and frankly unappealing) names thrown around in the last month or so, I find myself even more appreciative of that fact that it was Cavill -- and not some clown -- who got the part of Superman. Casting a superhero isn't as easy as one might think.

You're right, though to be fair, with Cavill we have the benefit of hindsight. (Almost) anyone mentioned in this thread could be triumphant or disastrous.

The only way Routh can be on the set of a movie featuring Superman is if he is the spot boy or caterer or something.

With the "rumors" of Cumberbatch being casted as The Batman....what do you guys think about that choice. I know it was suggested weeks ago.
I for one am OK with it. He wasn't in my top 3, but I think it would work.

What rumors? Who is reporting this?

Does Cumberbatch pass for handsome? I don't know.

And can he muscle up? Like in a really big way?

What rumors? Who is reporting this?

Just read the rumor on AICN, I guess its trending on twitter. He dropped out of Del Toro's movie due to another "Big" project that just came up. Folks are putting 2 and 2 together and think its for The World's Finest (or whatever they are calling it).

Twitter!
and you know they NEVER get anything wrong!

I like him, but is he handsome enough? He's decent looking but I don't think up to the standards of what Wayne should look like. Then again I thought Keaton fell in the same category. I wouldn't complain if he was cast. He would certainly need to bulk up.

No one said its being reported...its simply a rumor. Rumors aren't news.

Just thought it was an interesting rumor, and if true, what do people think of the possibility of him as a potential Batman.

I always thought as handsome as "Not Ugly". I don't think the guy is ugly, but I also don't consider him a pretty boy.

I'm indiffrent to the bulking up. Bale didn't bulk up for the last 2 movies. He was actually quote thin in DKR.

The Hollywood Reporter article says his exit isn't due to another project.

Someone post the link to the article.

EDIT: NVM. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/63794

Well, that would make sense. Del Toro's Crimson Peak films at the same time MOS2 is slated to film.

So theoretically, him being cast as the big bad bat COULD be why he bowed out of Del Toro's film.

If he is playing Batman, he'd be a phenomenal choice. He'd just have to bulk up. He's a bit weedy.
