he wasn't bad when he was on batman a few years back, but i think he's grown more as a writer since then. he needs to come back to dc.

Well yeah, he wasnt bad, he was great, but you had all the high profile writers getting big books while talented guys like Brubaker got stuck doing Catwoman. Thats the point, DC never gave him the opportunity, and Marvel did. No brainer.

Didn't Brubaker write a bunch of parts of No Man's Land? Or was that Rucka?

rucka wrote the whole thing, i believe.

Brubaker did most most/all () of Murderer/Fugitive.

Rucka wrote some of that, too.

Yeah, you're right. I remember an interview where Rucka talked about it and said he was taking on a big task for "the Batman newbie" at the time. But I could've sworn Brubaker was lurking somewhere around the Bat-titles back then, too...

i don't think he was credited with writing any of it, since it was released as a novel by rucka, but bru might have consulted with him on it, since they seem to be pretty comfortable collaborating on stories such as gotham central.

I think NML might've been before they forged their bond of awesomeness.

possibly, i'm not sure. they do make a killer team, though.

I miss Gotham Central. Not that it would've worked post-OYL anyway, with the GCPD reduced once again to Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock, period, but a man can dream...

werd. that series was one of the highpoints of dc's titles, but nothing lasts forever. :( i'm liking criminal, so far. that helps fight the withdrawals i get from a lack of gotham central.

Eh, Criminal's all right. I'm enjoying Cross Bronx and X-Factor a lot more for different parts of what I got from GC.

i liked x-factor at first, but with them changing the artist over and over again, i lost interest. they should have kept sook on it. what's cross bronx? i've heard it mentioned before.

Its hard to keep someone on, when they dont want to be on.

why didn't sook want to stay on it?

The way it went down was Sook said he couldnt handle a monthly title without being delayed so he jumped off. I guess it took him 3 issues to figure that out.

I'm guessing a couple of pages of #4 are sitting in his studio or house or whatever somewhere. :)

I want to blame DC for this but im pretty sure he was done with Seven SOldiers Zatanna by the time X-Factor started.

They seem to have stabilized with Renato Arlem, who's got a cool style that's kind of like a mix of Maleev and Sook, but not quite as good as either. He's still good in his own right, and you should check X-Factor out again to see for yourself rather than go on my ******ed and confusing description.

Cross Bronx is a story drawn by Mike Oeming and written by Oeming and some other dude named Ivan Brandon. It's about two cops who get mixed up in some crazy, supernatural deal. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what the hell it'll have been about when all's said and done, and I don't even know the characters too well since I missed the first issue, but what I did understand of #2 was really good. It mixes creepy mysticism and noir together pretty well.

it takes him that long to do a single issue? he better figure out a way to do it or his success will be limited. it's a shame, he's great artist.

I'm pretty sure he's already achieved the kind of success where he can pick a good deal of his assignments anyway.

The difference there is that Jim Lee still hasn't figured out that he can't do a monthly yet.

so, it's like powers mixed with x-files?

I guess you could describe it that way, but the mysticism is a lot more obtuse than X-Files. It's more of a psychological thriller. It certainly looks like Powers, though. ;)
