Batman & Son, Assault on Arkham announced

Asylum and arkham city

Thank, that's what I thought. By the way what does everyone think of the Hot Toys AC Batman?

Assault on Arkham was fantastic, the dialogue was sharp, the characterization was fun and engaging, the action was excellent, the plot was interesting with a couple of neat twists, and the humour was darkly amusing, great stuff.

8.5/10

Assault on Arkham was really good.

And so much better than Justice League: War. So very, very, very much better!

I really liked the focus on the Suicide Squad with Batman just popping up now and again until the last third or so of the movie. It was great to explore some of the lesser known villains (especially King Shark and Black Spider who I'd never heard of) and see how they work as a team, interact with other villains and how they fear The Batman.

The action was great. Possibly slightly more violent and bloody than I was expecting, but it wasn't too gratuitous. The adult humour and themes also seemed to settle at around the right level.

I really hope their next films are at this high level of quality.

Thats good because I hated Justice League War. Nothing since the TDKR 2 parter, has impressed me in the slightest. Im hoping Assault changes that. Im going to commit to the Target Steelbook!

Assault on Arkham was excellent. I'm hoping Drew Goddard the maker of Sinester Six (Spider-Man spin off) watches this to get a sense of super villain group dynamics.

I definitely need to check it out. I liked Batman & Son well enough but hopefully I'll enjoy AoA a bit more.

The movie was good but I wanted more Batman. Whatever little Batman we got was fantastic though.

Good to hear DC animation is back on track. Hopefully the quality will carry over to Throne of Atlantis and JL: Gods and Monsters.

Bit of hyperbole there. Deadshot is 100% more interesting than Batman? I'll grant you in this movie Deadshot was more interesting because he had more of a personal story, while Batman was doing his standard superhero fare, but he was bad ass doing it.

:huh:I meant in the movie and Deadshot have the personal story and the bad ass = more interesting than just bad ass

they were pushing deadshot really hard in this. "you out crazied the joker". ok i get it deadshot is the hero of the film. it was a little overboard.

It was certainly refreshing to get a movie that focused more on someone/group that isnt Batman/Superman. Having the villains take main focus was great and fun. Though I was hoping for Harley to turn on Joker.

Gimme more movies like this DC, if you have to use Batman/Superman/JL as "covers" then do so.

I am really hoping for a future Batman movie to center on or have the bat family heavily focused on. Robin/Batgirl/Nightwing need to start getting some love.

This was pretty solid. I'm constantly surprised how much gore and implied sex is greenlit with these DCU animation. I mean people's heads were shown blowing up. Harley was naked and seducing Deadshot in bed. And she wasn't the only one getting naked. I really don't think I'd have been allowed to watch this when I was 10. It's pretty great, I guess.

It was weird having Suicide Squad without Rick Flag. [BLACKOUT]So did Shark, Spider, Killer Frost, KGBeast, all die? That's pretty great. They definitely showed how expendable the squad are. And the original John Ostrander squad members (Deadshot, Captain Boomerang) survived (as well as Harley of course).[/BLACKOUT]

If there's a next one I'd like to see Bronze Tiger, Enchantress, Nightshade, and Rick Flag Jr. And no Batman.

I really liked Assault on Arkham! It's the best thing we've gotten out of DC animation since Flashpoint Paradox. Boomerang kind of annoyed me a little bit (for reasons I don't know if I can explain), but otherwise it was a great experience all around.

Does anyone know what the canon status of the movie is? Is it actual canon with the Arkham games, or is it simply based off that universe and nothing more? Also, do you think that the new connected film universe will adopt it into its own continuity even if it's from a 3rd party? It doesn't exactly contradict anything we've seen so far out of JL:War and Son of Batman.

To me that is how his character is suppose to be. I thought they nailed him because you loved to hate him.

I believe they are rated PG-13, and as long as they don't show that much when blowing off peoples heads, they are good.

Looking at the discussion above; over the last year or two DC have made a real push to elevate Deathstroke and I think Deadshot's lead role in this was the start of pushing him towards being a bigger player in the DC universe as well.

I am really hoping for a future Batman movie to center on or have the bat family heavily focused on. Robin/Batgirl/Nightwing need to start getting some love.

Co-signed.

I really enjoyed this movie and the Asylum documentary. I think the chronology in the arkham series is

Origins
Assault on Arkham
Arkham Asylum
City
Knight

count me in as another guy that wants more of a focus on the sidekicks (Barbara, Dick and Tim preferably)

Back in the Nolan movie days, everyone seemed to be down on Robin. SO stupid, everyone was just buying into what Nolan said. Dick Grayson is crucial. Any true Batman fan knows this.

That's the what some of the heads that worked on Assault on Arkham said.

I'd love to see an animated Nightwing film. It could be refreshing to see some new faces.

It could depict him through different stages in his life and show crucial Batman moments through his eyes instead of the usual with Bruce.
