Batman: The Telltale Series

Bought this game (all eps) on Steam during one of their sales a few weeks ago and finally tried playing it yesterday. I don't have a GREAT computer but I figured I could run it well, at least.

Before I even got past the main menu I had issues. I couldn't use the right or bottom side of the screen. At all. My mouse would just hit invisible walls. I had to change the resolution to ****ing 1024x768 just to use the whole freaking screen (which made the game look not great tbh) but I start it up anyway.

Cutscenes lag. HORRIBLY. There is a 2 second delay every time the camera angle switches. Some characters eyes are stuck closed, some dont have outlines, audio lines cut in and out. Everything sucks. Needless to say, game is unplayable as well. Tried a billion different setting options. Even put everything as low as possible. Nothing changes.

SO I'm thinking my computer really isn't great after all. Bummer. I go to the Steam forums to see if maybe there are certain settings that work well on slower computers.

Turns out its the game. :) People with MUCH stronger machines than me are having some of the same problems (the lag between camera angles is a consistent problem apparently which is by far the BIGGEST issue I faced) and the PC port for this is just straight garbage.

Glad I wasted 5 bucks on this. Should've tried it when I first bought it so I could refund this crap. But it's too late now.

I wasn't a fan of their Walking Dead game either for some reason. Played the first ep, thought it was boring. But I'm not into zombies so I thought that was it--hence why I tried Batman. But now that one is optimized more poorly than a bootleg Ti-86 calculator OS so LOL guess I'm never playing a Telltale game.

The game runs on an iPhone. Unless your PC is from 10 years ago, its not the issue. TTG titles are notorious for bugs and awful glitches. Its not you; its them

For PC or in general?? The problems I'm having are literally game-breaking and if this was on the console front I'm SURE I would've heard of it by now.

It's a damn shame too because not only was I really looking forward to this, but I heard it was pretty good, too!!

I have a PS4 too. Would you recommend I give it a shot there when it goes on sale? It was only 5 bucks on Steam so I'm not really upset. But it just boggles my mind how bad it is.

:hehe:

The game is part of the current Humble Bundle (TTG games) in the $15+ package. I already own most of the games so for Batman only it's a bit pricey especially since it's been around $6-8 CAD recently. I guess I could gift the other games...

hmm ok so i have slight retraction at least with the wolf among us but it's from game zone and they only said it was batman that may have sequel. and left out tWAU. anyway this is batman thread and this thing below is also in it's own thread.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., July 19, 2017 — Award-winning developer and publisher of digital entertainment Telltale Games, alongside DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, today announced Batman: The Enemy Within – The Telltale Series, a new five-part, episodic game series that continues Telltale’s unique take on the Caped Crusader. Episode one, ‘The Enigma,’ will be available for download starting August 8th, 2017 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac, and will become available on iOS and Android-based devices later this year.

The series will also be available at retailers this October for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on a special ‘Season Pass Disc,’ which will include the first episode of the season, as well as download access to all subsequent episodes as they are released through an online connection.
In this latest chapter, both Bruce Wayne and Batman will be forced into precarious new roles. The Riddler has returned to terrorize Gotham City, but his gruesome puzzles merely foreshadow an even greater crisis. With the arrival of a ruthless federal agent and the return of a still nascent Joker, Batman must navigate uneasy alliances while Bruce Wayne undertakes a perilous series of deceptions. Which of Batman’s new allies will you choose to trust? And how deep into the darkness will you let Bruce descend?

This new season will be accessible to both returning fans and newcomers alike, though players’ choices from the first season of Batman: The Telltale Series will optionally carry over into The Enemy Within. This season will also include Telltale’s unique multiplayer ‘Crowd Play’ feature, which allows friends and family to engage with the adventure together by helping to decide the direction of the story from any mobile device with an online connection.
Rendered to look like a living, breathing comic book, Telltale’s vision of Batman features an award-winning cast of talent including Troy Baker, who returns to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne, as well as Anthony Ingruber, who will reprise his fresh take on ‘John Doe,’ better known to fans as The Joker.

Batman: The Enemy Within will be a standalone product separate from the first season of Batman: The Telltale Series and is licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and based on DC’s iconic character. The second season will be available for download on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices. The series is currently in development and has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

Not sure if I'll play these as they come out episodically, or if I'll just wait for them to all come out?

Man, that is soon. Might be the shortest time they've had between seasons.

Yeah I'll probably just wait it out like last time. Season 2 is shaping up pretty well.

New batsuit looks legit AF.

Riddler and Joker? Cannot wait.

wow, cant beleive its out in less than a month. i hope they are as fast as they were with the last season

I used to play them as they came out but don't mind waiting now and binging through it.

Wow, the turn around time on this is insane! I don't think Telltale has ever put seasons of the same game out in such close temporal relation to one another.

I gotta say, Telltale is starting to operate like a well-oiled machine. Gone are the days of 2 to 3 month waits between episodes. Both The Walking Dead Season 3 and Batman released episodes in 3 to 4 week intervals like clockwork. MAkes me think they are really getting in their groove.

Although, I will say, I wish they waited until 2018 for Batman. Season 1 wrapped about 6 months ago. I'd rather wait a little longer for this and have another season of Game of Thrones, to be honest. I am surprised Telltale is letting that slip away. Its been nearly two years since the last episode of season 1. We know it was successful and with the popularity of the television show, you'd think Telltale would really be going full force with that instead of giving us The Wolf Among Us treatment where a sequel was announced shortly after the first season, and then nothing said about it for months on end.

Although I do suspect that some of the problem that Telltale may be having with developing it is twofold:

1) The game is set late in the franchise (it concludes around season 4 in the timeline). They may be waiting for more direction and development from Martin or the showrunners before going forward.

2) It has the most varied endings of any Telltale series. At least one of the four main playable characters is guaranteed to be dead (but which one is not set in stone) and a second could be dead, depending on the player. Plus the circumstances of each are fairly divergent based on choice. The Night's Watch story is the only one with anything resembling a somewhat set ending. It might be hard for TT to figure out how to reconcile that.

hmm interesting thoughts well I'm answer you here cause I don't think I've been the the tell tale game of thrones thread. lol and I'm weirdly behind game of thrones over all . but the thing is though all these game mentioned are all comic themed and with comic con
being this week starting to today for the rest of us, be side the people doing the set up and doing work over there besides the reporters and the people mc ing panels.

it makes sense a stated below here game of thrones doesn't have comic yeah it's book etc but those kinda go with what going down this week.

you may also be correct too.

I'm excited for this!
I loved the first season, of course.
Just a little over two weeks to go!

For a game that didn't have free flow combat or gliding mechanics, Season One of Telltale's Batman series was one of the best Batman experiences I've had. It was top quality and I'm sure Season Two will be more of the same. I'll wait like last time though.

So, who's going to turn out be the new original villain? Harvey Bullock? Wilfred Pennyworth? Ace?

Btw, the first hour of the episode has been out now. Telltale has been giving some YouTubers access to the episode and are allowed to put up the first hour as a preview.
