Batman: The Telltale Series

Trailer:

[YT]pKGMCPhExhw[/YT]

Btw, the first hour of the episode has been out now. Telltale has been giving some YouTubers access to the episode and are allowed to put up the first hour as a preview.

why? The epsiodes are like 2 hours.

Hmmm. So, I've been waiting to see if I could just pre-purchase the upcoming season on Xbox One, because that's where I bought and played the first season. But, I think I'll pull the trigger on Playstation instead.

They have the pre-order for Enemy Within's season pass (all 5 episodes) at a 10% discount, so that's $22.49. And ontop of that you get all of season one (all 5 episodes) as well. Seems like too good a deal to pass up to get both seasons at that price on PS4.

Will season 2 have a physical release like the 1st season or will it be digital/download only?

First episode of season 2 was better than any of the season 1 episodes (which is telling of how high of quality it is). I love what they did with Riddler. I didn't care for the changes to Penguin but a Jigsaw-esque Riddler who predates Batman was such a great creative choice. Honestly, this is the most effective use of Riddler I've seen in years. This is the new bar for the character.

I am really bummed out that [blackout]Riddler died at the end. You'd think he'd have some plot armor, but apparently not. It was a great twist, but I feel like so much more could've been done with him, especially if he were the season big bad.[/blackout]

At any rate, based on the silloutes on the episode 2 coming soon screen, we may be getting Bane, Harley, and Mr. Freeze (I think that is him on the far right) in the next episode. That's really exciting. After Riddler, I can't wait to see what Telltale does with them!

I think, judging by the description for the last chapter, that it's gearing you up for a decision that
sees Batman either kill John/Joker or spare him.

This was a great first episode. I was really surprised at how much Telltale expanded the world here, bringing in Amanda Waller and hinting at a slew of new villains. But as a sequel it makes sense for it to go that way. The amount of ground this single episode covers is hugely impressive. I finished it feeling like I had gotten an expansive, complete Batman adventure that, somehow, is just getting started.

I am bummed about both Riddler and Lucius Fox dying, especially so early. On the one hand I admire the creative balls it takes to raise the stakes that dramatically. At this point I'm not ruling out that anyone else apart from Bruce could die. But at the same time I would've liked more time to spend with those characters, especially Riddler whose backstory is only hinted at. It was a clever bait-and-switch from Telltale but, judging from the descriptions of future episodes, I worry that it will become another Joker story. Riddler and all of the other villains backgrounded in favor of Joker. But we'll see. Their version of him is really intriguing and unlike any that I've come across before. I can't think of any other story where he and Bruce had some kind of relationship and he was kind of portrayed as sympathetic and kind of friendly.

You know, I am wondering if . . .

Harley is going to make Joker in this continuity. We saw Harley's file at the end of the episode. She is already on the Agency's radar. But seems to be a normal, albeit corrupt, psychiatrist. Usually it is Joker who warps Harley. But since Harley is already a villain, I wonder if it is she who will take the mentally unstable, but not ill-intentioned John Doe and warp him into the Joker? That would be a really interesting twist on this sympathetic version of the character, where he becomes just as much a victim as anyone. Plus it ties in nicely to the themes of the first episode and the sins of Bruce's father.

Also, why didn't Telltale just name The Agency A.R.G.U.S.?

I could see that happening. It's very strange to have a Harley that's apparently already fully formed without Joker. But however John becomes Joker Bruce will be intimately involved in it. They're seeding it now with John asking Bruce for a favor, believing their friendship to be real. There's gonna be a point where Bruce will probably have to betray him. Though I wonder how his relationship with Bruce will differ from his relationship with Batman. Batman would obviously have to be his enemy, but does Bruce?

Amanda "The Wall" Waller is a hardline top-ranking U.S. Government agent involved in clandestine operations. Despite her non-threatening physical appearance, she is almost universally feared as one of the most ruthless women in espionage and politics. She created and runs the Suicide Squad, a team of super-villains running missions for the government in exchange for reduced prison sentences; she has also been involved with Agency, Checkmate, the Shadow Fighters, and once led the Secret Six as Mockingbird. In most media in which she appears, she seems to have a distinct rivalry with the Batman. Whenever the two are shown together, they almost are always shown to have a pre-existing relationship of bitterness over their respective methods.

Also in the current books her running of argus proved to be a failer and steve trevor has taken back control since her method were the problem.

[FONT=&quot]However, during the aftermath of the David Graves incident, A.R.G.U.S. got a new head in Amanda Waller, the head of Task Force X. This resulted in a more aggressive stance against threats such as superhuman trafficking, Basilisk, and the Secret Society, seeding agents into enemy ranks. These tactics proved useless in the face of the Secret Society's conspiracy, however, and the agency was crippled by an attack from the Crime Syndicateand Secret Society.

Fantastic first episode. I didn't want it to end, and the wait for Episode 2 is going to suck.

Well...

It's definitely going to become another Joker story. I'm completely okay with that and excited for it. I'd say The Joker is absolutely integral to any given version of Batman. He undoubtedly should become a central figure in this Batman's life, and Telltale has certainly earned the right to go all in with this character.

Thankfully, it doesn't seem like they'll be ignoring the rest of the Rogues Gallery and pushing others aside to make way for The Joker. Looks like they're taking the slow burn approach and building him up little by little all season.

I think the 3rd silloutes looks more like Hugo Strange.

Yeah, I don't get where people are getting Freeze from. He's not wearing a bulky suit or a dome. Those would make him more recognizable.

Or if Telltale really wanted to troll people, it would be obscure Batman villain Cypher. :oldrazz:

"Here we have BANE! You all know Bane as 'The Man Who Broke The Bat', and here we have the one, the only, the infamous HARLEY QUINN! And then we have this RANDOM BALD GUY..."

That wasn't her organization's name until the New 52 (it was Checkmate) and the less they pull from the New 52, the better.

I see, I see. Thanks guys. That said, I think ARGUS is a cool name and a bit more original than "The Agency" anyway.

Yeah. Although Telltale has been pumping out episodes really quickly lately. Season 3 of The Walking Dead was released in full over a period of about 4 to 5 months.

Hmm, maybe. Although there the circular neck collar and what appears to be bulky gauntlets. Although I suppose that could easily be a stylized lab coat and lab gloves, as I know Strange wears at times.

Its weird to have Harley and Strange featured so heavily in the same episode, considering both are essentially psychiatrists turned super villain. But I suppose that fits with the themes of season 1. But in that case, Bane is kind of the odd man out. Why not go all in on the psychiatry theme and use Scarecrow in that spot? Strange's history with Bruce's identity could explain the final line of Episode 1.

Lol oh, that only that's done in the story with in any medium's talking the spy or super heroes having similarities to it like marvel & wild storm's team's that have heroes go into it at times and have a lot in common with it. it's when they don't want the organization to be recognized or to keep mysterious or cause the show or what format it's in has decided on a name yet or to throw character's with in the story cause they don't want to people to know who they are cause their operration is covert (even for the good guy's with good intentions) .

so they say the word agency used and it's moniker the CIA had at one time and some people still use it.

it's like how MI5 used to be called the circus. I did a lot more looking into that whole thing than most think. I should but like most thing's that medium is just as popular as the super hero scene with the manga and anime scene following it and now video games.

I hope there are many seasons for this game. Pretty good for Batman fans with this, Arkham, Injustice and the Lego series all ongoing.

And DCUO too. That's been around for long while withte same voice actor production as injustice & Arkham and more simlar to the comic's then the other lego that are on equal footing there to a degree.

Yeah true, I haven't put many hours into that.

Finally got to play.

Overall, a very strong start. I'm already enjoying this more than season one, mostly due to noticeable polish, actually running without glitches or slowdowns, and a very meaty story (more than two hours). Plus, I'm curious to see how the relationship system works.

My only complaint is that I wish Riddler's puzzles felt more like actual puzzles, and that his riddles (besides one) felt like actual riddles and not very obvious questions.

I have a strong relationship with Gordon and Alfred, though the latter is grieving. I was shocked that you could even make the latter vengeful. I'm on bad terms with Waller and Avesta is traumatized, though I don't think you can actually prevent that. John Doe is ecstatic, which I'm already regretting, and Tiffany is comforted. I know it will end up worse that I lied to her, but I figured I'll have to work with her, considering how strongly foreshadowed it is in her scene with Lucius.

Speaking of that, not a fan of how on-the-nose that foreshadowing was. The fact that Lucius dies immediately almost feels like a bad joke. Riddler getting killed off is a bit more surprising and worked a bit more with me.

Also, I think the game messed up some of my choices from the previous game's save file. My trophy room has the Penguin's gauntlets and Lady Arkham's mask, even though I fought Two-Face first and interacted with Lady Arkham's doll in the basement. The tickets are there as well, even though I ripped them in season one.
