Batman: The Telltale Series

interesting.

and I don't really play that genre of game. In fact, I think the Telltale Batman demo was the 1st time I've really played a "visual novel" game.

And I have mixed feelings about it. I did like the story and art style and it definitely got me intrigued. I'm just not sure if an entire game of QTEs would hold my interest. I'd much rather have direct control of the character, be able to walk around and interact, engage in combat, etc.
Basically what telltale has started is something that breathed new life into the genre where it's was only accepted by a few who were open-minded to try the old school version of Vn's in the west., they only appeal with visual novel's, were the out come of chose's inthe middle of games and the multiple endings . that was the cool feature and which the RPG genre (the good ones) fallowed.. it was born somewhat from there.

But where the JVn were involved in the west. it become stagnant cause to certain gamers just reading isn't good enough for a game.

which is what was said with that "Xblaze Blaz VN "came out. and this was during the 2000's

which the sword-wielding character "Es" is from before she was put into the Blaz Blu central fiction game.

I remember there were video review's and gamer's not loving the old school style of that game with VN's, cause there wasn't enough action just pur reading. so it wasn't well received . And then tell tale broke out with the wolf among us.

it's good that Telltale has made the genre popular in the West.

I wouldn't mind seeing more JVNs come West, too.

Really wish they'd slap some red lipstick on this Joker. Hopefully by the end of this season, he's more fully-formed.

Pretty good overall. It's amazing how intimidating Harley Quinn can be if played as the main power in her relationship with Joker. Bane's enjoyable, even if I personally think he should look less like a luchador gangster; JB Blanc is still my favorite voice actor for the character, and I like shaving him using an injector gun for his venom.

This is a really interesting, different take on Quinn. Never quite seen the character written with such a dominant role before, particularly as it relates to John. The roles are completely flipped with them, though I suspect by the end of the season they'll be in a more traditional form. John evolving into a fully formed Joker.

Agreed on both counts. I tire of luchador and cholo Bane. I'm also over how literally every incarnation messes with Bane's mask. No one messes with Spider-Man's mask, so why do they keep adding a mouthhole to Bane's?

Loved hearing JB Blanc again, though I still prefer his Alfred Pennyworth. :cwink:

I wouldn't hold my breath. Some people kept expecting the Waynes to turn out to be framed, but they never were. This series really likes to take risks with the established mythos. I think John will become more dangerous and harder to control, but I don't see Harley bowing down to him.

Luchador Bane is pretty silly in this looks-wise (they even gave him a bloody moustache :woot:), but I really liked how they went about the glaring weakness of exposed tubes/gas mask with the injector. Pretty smart.

Also, at least he's not the dumb ginormous buffoon from the Arkham games. And JB Blanc is great, I agree.

Anyway, I just recently finished the first season of Telltale's Batman, really enjoyed it. Much like others have mentioned, being able to choose to influence things as both Bruce and Batman is great and the format was perfect for actually fleshing out Bruce's character.

Additionally, I got to say that the True Detective undertones towards the end of the season were kind of uncanny for me - grisly murders, child abuse, creepy foreboding moody ost, not to mention the journey through 'Carcosa' to get to Vicki at the end. Anyone else pick up on this?

I'm not a big fan of the Luchador take on Bane overall, but I did like his design here, particularly the prison tattoos. You can see a little bit of Nolan influence in the clothing and the vaguely militaristic vibe to his men.

I didn't realize until after I finished that either Bane or Harley could be captured. For me, Harley was captured and I kind of regret it. It'll likely make John harder to deal with and it has left the leadership of the gang to Bane, a guy with more animosity for Bruce than Harley.

I feel like the take on Venom that Telltale has gone for is pretty Nolany too, as he doesn't inflate to ridiculous proportions once he's on it, it looks like what it does is pretty much make him impervious to pain and make him pack an even greater punch. The militaristic angle is a nice touch as well.

I kind of felt the tattoos were too much first time I saw them, but they're actually pretty badass.

Overall, I enjoyed the characterization of Bane but I'm in the same boat as those who weren't digging so much the mask. I've just dug it more so when the mouth would be closed off, just made him more intimidating looking in my opinion.

As far as the ending goes, I ended up with [BLACKOUT]Bane getting arrested, it just makes sense since he didn't vote for my Bruce to be a part of The Pact in my story. [/BLACKOUT]

Looking very much forward to the next episode, especially with the [BLACKOUT]return of Catwoman considering that my Bruce was head over heels with her in the first season.[/BLACKOUT]

The full season is on sale on Xbox for $15. I picked it up. I'll probably start playing when every episode is released.

Without delving into any spoilers or anything like that, I must say Ep3 was a little bit underwhelming compared to the previous one, but at least some of the Joker scenes (and Ingruber's performance) were entertaining enough.

Finally getting around to playing S2 and at first it was VERY weird to have a Harley Quinn who is fully developed before we have a Joker but they somehow make it work and this is probably the best take of bringing Harley into the modern world. I can only imagine once John becomes Joker, they will be a power couple who will be a force to be reckoned with.

Currently playing the first Season, since I got it free with PS+, and I'm already not in the mood to continue, because it acknowledges choices I haven't made.

It's January 23rd, for anyone who doesn't want to click that link.

As in it registers different choices to the ones you intended to choose, or just ignores what you chose?
