Batman V Iron Man V Hulk

Marketing and the freshness of IM will give it more money, not too mention the bigger market. Sure batman has more fans, but the general public is much bigger than any fanbase, If a mother wants to take her two 8 year olds to a movie, it's gonna be IM, not TDK.

Not sure on hulk's BO yet, from what I know about all the films, I'm expecting it to be higher quality than the rest(except hellboy 2).

Yea but quality doesnt always turn into box office success, TDK probably wont be any darker than B89 was and B89 made 250+ mill (US ALONE), I think IM will be big, dont get me wrong, but I think TDK has more to worry from HP(if it comes out next year) than it does from IM.

The subtle humour and character play works very nicely, as do the well handled action sequences.

It's more character than action, hence why Hellboy is not regarded as highly, that and the smaller popularity of the character.

Oh I know quality and BO are miles apart, I think TIH wil be great quality, but it's BO could be quite low. IM will be Ok-decent quality, but high BO. TDK will be OK and have decent BO.

My thoughts, and hellboy 2 will be high quality and have OK BO :(

I have no problem with character, in fact I welcome it over continued action. Just found it underwhelming and not particularly interesting.

Fair enough.

Changing the topic slightly, what Del Toro films have you seen, and your thoughts on them?

The Mandarin won't be in Iron Man. It has already been confirmed they went with Obediah Stane, and left out Mandarin for a possible sequel.
Oh Ok, thank you for the info, I don't know Obediah Stane, so I still stand by my post.

Batman is known by everyone in America. Iron Man is known by the select few. That alone gives TDK an advantage.

Plus you would be surprised about the indifference many mothers have these days - everytime I saw 300, there were many pre-pubescent boys enjoying the sex, blood and beheading with me.

The Devils Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth. Very interesting, absorbing pieces, loved the mixture of fantasy and real-life, and the Spanish Civil war setting is great. haven't seen Cronos or Mimic.

I know this question wasn't for me but I'll answer too. The only Del Toro film I haven't seen is Devil's Backbone. I've seen all the rest and like them all except Mimic.

To me if each movie is successful then thats all that really matters, but it is nice to see comic-book movies starting to get treated with some respect.

Yes, because when I think Transporter - I think quality

Yes, Hulk has Roth and Norton - but nothing else promising. The script was so bad, Norton had to re-write it.

I think TDK will draw in HUGE numbers!... and I know you're just comparing superhero-flicks here... But I truely think all of these movies will get their butts kicked by Indy 4!... and on another note; I can't wait for this Harry Potter **** to be over! I'm getting really tired of that franchise!

OK, think trasnporter, think about the DIRECTION, not the script, from what the script was, it was made the best it could be from a directors POV really.

Unleashed, solid direction and a nice style.

Not necessarily a bad script, but a more character based one.

And here I thought I was the only one.

I'm not dissing Indy. He's a cool character for sure. But, I don't think the first two movies are interesting. It's that constant conflict with his father that really defines his character and makes it interesting. Connery was like the Caine(BB) of the Indy films. Sorry = little chinese boy and miriam annoy the hell out of me. Characters can be annoying to other characters, but they shouldn't be to the audience.

The third one is the only good one IMO, so if the 4th one is anything like the 3rd I'll love it.

I'm not much of a fan of the second (who is?) and I'm also a big fan of the third, but the original easily defines the character and the franchise for me.

Cover of empire, pushing INDY 4 and TDK to small sub stories was IM. The marketing is gonna kick up etc. We don't even know what rating TDK will be yet. I'm sure it'll get cut up so it's a lower rating, but still, it could be something other than a 12A/PG13.

Mimic is an OK horror film, but nothing special.

Cronos is his best film, it's pretty '***** hot'. Nice to see a successful director taking on framing and juxta positioning unlike most. (He wasn't a successful director till he made this film obviously, but yeah, you know whaty I mean.)

Devil's backbone is prob his second best IMO, with Pan's following VERY closely behind. Definately worth picking up Cronos though. Second best mexican film I can think of! (still miles behind the best though!)

Guillermo Del Toro is probably the best director working today. He is so similar to Nolan in the sense of always over-delivering his film(s). Go Toro! You can make one kick-ass Hellboy sequel!

Because Iron Man was, as you said, fresh. That doesn't improve his rather low name recognition in the country.

As far as it not being PG13 - no, it really couldn't.

I love Del Toro, but I'd disagree here.

Alfonso Curion. Children of Men > Pans Labyrinth

I'm not saying that, just IM will be more accessible for children and as a family film than TDK.

I'll say again, as for family film. No. It definetly won't be as dark and mature as TDK but using the term family film is a little too much.

Marketing and exposure is building for IM.

And TDK is claiming all these horrible dark things etc, yet if it gets such a low sissy rating, i's obviously gonna be toned down to a degree where the joker's maniac action fail to be that 'dark' like it claims, which will effect it greatly, as that's basically the draw to the film.

I'm not saying IM is gona be a family film, but it's gonna more like a family film than TDK, and when it comes for parents choosing between the two for family etc, it's gonna be a simple choice.
