Perception is everything.

Perception has nothing to do with the 39% right now.

It is these days.

You clearly don't get how he meant it. The perception is directly responsible for the 39%.

Yep. It's amazing how often you can read reviews on a film and see various critics directly contradicting each other. It's like they didn't even see the same movie. And I'm not talking about just THIS movie, I mean EVERY big movie. It's wild. Even one that's 93% fresh, the 7% accounting for the rotten reviews will directly contradict the other 93%. It's not a simple matter of what a movie is or isn't.

It's like when Luke Skywalker asks Yoda what's in the cave.

Only what you take with you.

That's your bias attempting to justify it.

Bias is a noun.

The word you want is "biased."

I apologize for singling you out but I've been back on the Hype for three days and I have seen lots of people talking about biases and to a one they use the word "bias" when they mean "biased." I'm a writer and stuff like that rankles.

And while bias often plays a role in these conversations, I don't think he's being biased at all. See my previous post.

How is a 39% aggregate rating based on critical reviews NOT about perception? That's literally all it is! It's in the ****ing definition!!!

Look, I went into this film with so much excitement (I absolutely love the approach, style and vision of the DC EU) and came out quite disappointed, depressingly so. But it is absolutely about perception. My perception is that the editing ruins the film. Others may say the story or scripting or directing ruin it, or help it. It's all about perception. After all, it is a review of a movie you've seen.

Which is why I'm going to see it again (at an earlier time than 10pm the night before three major assignments were due), so that I can get a better feel for the movie, and perhaps whether or not my perception of the film will change.

Good reviews:

Variety
Forbes
Rolling Stone - 3/4
EW - C+
The Sun
Business Insider
Entertainment.ie - 3/5
Newsrama
Cinema Blend - 3,5/5
Cosplay Chris
Hey U Guys - 4/5
Roger Ebert - 2,5/3
Den of Geek - 3/5
Herald Sun - 3/5
Superman Homepage - 8/10
Grace Randolph
Comic Book - 7.8/10

I imagine some people around here forget these exist and don't bother acknowledging them.

The BOF review was good actually. Basically says it's darker than expected, good overall but feels like there's too much going on. I can see that being the consensus.

Which, ultimately, is really not that bad. It's a pretty big crossover event that combines mythologies. I'm guessing most fans (especially of DC) and people who have been waiting years to see the movie won't be complaining that they wish things were cut out.

I'm surprised (and glad) to see Superman Homepage liked the movie, since I seem to remember they seemed pretty disappointed about MOS.

"Snyder's action sequences are a major disappointment"...This is why just because someone went to the effort of posting a review doesn't mean it's worth anyone's time.

From a lot of people who seem to abjectly hate the movie, they've mostly grudgingly admitted that it's visually good. This is a fantastic example of someone who clearly had a preconceived idea of what they were going to write before the movie came out, pretty much patronizing the reader and deriding the actors and characters throughout.

You're right. He goes out of his way to criticize every point even cynical critics praised. That's the sort of negative bias you should lose your job over.

I like hearing that there's a lot going on, makes for great repeat viewings.

I throughly enjoyed this film. I'm very pleased with how the core narrative from Man of Steel was elaborated on and a lot of what that movie is about is addressed and continued in this one. MoS actually is better after seeing this movie and is the perfect foundation. It's definitely a sequel to MoS, even though Batman steals the show. I understand the complaints people/critics have, especially with the tone, but it didn't bother me as much as it did for others. I suggest not letting their opinions get in the way of your own enjoyment of BvS. I no longer need to get my Batman fix from any other incarnation of the character. That is not a knock on the previous Batman films, I just think he was perfect in this movie. Wonder Woman was great and I am really looking forward to her solo film. There really is A LOT in BvS, and sure it could've been "handled better", but I feel Snyder and co. did their job overall. 9/10 for me and I'm certain that will be higher with the Extended Cut.

For those of you who keep throwing around the word "bias"...

Or maybe someone is allowed to not like how the action looks in the film.

I knew the story was going to be a mess when Zack stated that he Terrio rewrote the script while drinking a ton of diet-coke at night.

I don't know, that just screams "Disaster" right there.

Just saw that Roeper gave it a positive. Interesting, considering he gave MoS a negative. I feel his reviews often tend to reflect the mainstream opinion.

Exactly...it becomes a bit of a can of worms if you really get into it, but I'm talking generally here...the most comics accurate suit, a Batman who has lived similar experiences as the Batman of the comics (faced the rogues gallery, dead Robin, etc.), "Batgod" level fighting and detective skills.

That's not to say there won't be some changes made, in fact from the sounds of if there's at least one very controversial choice.

It's not that accurate.

I keep saying this and it needs to be repeated; this is WATCHMEN theatrical cut all over again. It just is.

Sooooo here's my review: https://***********/gothamnews_/status/712436593001373696

If you only care about ratings it's 2.5/4 for me

Balanced and level-headed review. Good write up.

Okay, I cannot stand her. I'm sorry, but I can't.

She's PRAISING this movie for being "so adult oriented." Um, yeah ... Didn't she try to start this internet campaign for Fox to make a PG-13 cut of Deadpool for some 8 year-old boy whose mommy told him he couldn't see the flick? She's the same chick who said that Deadpool appeals to "video game stabby stabby" audiences.

Yeah...I find her unbearable. I don't know why she has such a following. She liked all the trailers for Terminator: Genisys and her reaction to the new Ghostbusters trailers was "Aw that looks great! You guys (haters) are mean!" She's super fake and tends to have bad taste in trailers and movies.
